Shit is crazy. I guy at my work knows a savant...he is oppsessed with solar eclipses. If you tell him where you are from (any city in the US) he will tell you exactly when (month, day, year, minute and seconds) when the next solar eclipse will be visible from that location. He travels the world watching them and I guess has thousands upon thousands hours of video of eclipses at his house. Unlike the guy you linked, this dude cannot really communicate with other people.

don't get me wrong, these people's abilities are amazing, but none of them ever became a great scientists

being a genius requires much more than just being able to memorize a lot and work with big numbers in your head

if they can reduce or negate the negative side effects that autistic people usually have, they would simultaneously create a superior class of humans.

i agree and honestly I was thinking the same thing yesterday after I saw this. Why dont these people develope new theories? or Math sequences?
I found it real interesting how he sees images in his head when he thinks of numbers. He drew a picture of what Pi looked like to him.
