It was the refs fault. It wasn't the same situation as the Floyd/Ortiz thing because he fouled Floyd then got what was coming to him. The ref is there to protect the fighters. The headbutt was obviously bothering him pretty bad and he said time in...got taxed. It is what it is, and ultimately you're supposed to protect yourself, but the ref should have made sure he was really okay before calling time in. Maybe he did that and I missed it though?

This is from the unified rules..

B. Accidental fouls.

1. If an accidental foul causes an injury severe enough for the referee to stop the bout immediately, the bout will result in a NO DECISION if stopped before four (4) completed rounds. Four (4) rounds are complete when the bell rings signifying the end of the fourth round.

2. If an accidental foul causes an injury severe enough for the referee to stop the bout after four (4) rounds have occurred, the bout will result in a TECHNICAL DECISION awarded to the boxer who is ahead on the score cards at the time the bout is stopped.

a. Partial or incomplete rounds will be scored. If no action has occurred, the round should be scored as an even round. This is at the discretion of the judges.

13. A fighter who is hit with an accidental low blow must continue after a reasonable amount of time but no more than five (5) minutes, or he/she will lose the fight.
The ref checked for a cut and had to call time in. Nowhere in the rules does it say if a headbutt occurs that the fighter gets time, it specifically says low blows. If Sod would've been cut then he would've got some time by getting looked at by a Dr., but there was nothing that he could really do. It's just bad luck.

It seems like there would be more that would need to be done. The ref isn't a damn doctor. He should have the doctor check for pupil dilation and have the doctor ensure that the fighter is fit to continue if that's the case. Not sure if/where that's in the rules or not. Doesn't surprise me though, it's not like boxing has the best rules in the world sometimes.

Honestly it didn't even look that bad. Yeah I'm sure it stung and dude was complaining but whenever that happens the fight goes on.

So because UniMas is awesome I got to watch the fight in HD. I don't feel too bad for Sod anymore, not sure what he was thinking. The headbutt was bad mostly cause he was lunging into Rigo and then he walks up to Rigo while the action has been started with one hand down and one hand trying to touch gloves.

People can say dirty or sucker punch as much as they want but someone that's compiled a 63-2-1 record going into this fight + his MT fights should know better than that.

Every headbutt is different. It all depends where you get hit. I got a concussion playing basketball going for a rebound and accidentally bumped heads with a dude and everything in the room went black. I couldn't see for over a minute and had memory loss over the next few days. I can't imagine a trained fighter punching me in the face after that headbutt lol

I hope Geale isn't afraid to engage but I can't really blame him if he tries to keep the fight at range.
He shouldn't be afraid but at the same time it probably wouldn't be wise to engage that often. Geale needs to box and box well.

Kinda funny Geale said Golovkin beat him in the amateurs which he claims he doesnt remember much but said "I seem to recall being put down in that fight". He said it doesn't matter now though since he's much better. Also says he's been training/sparring with Sakio Bika who roughs him up quite a bit which Geale claims will prepare him for GGG's power.

That's hard to believe. I want to see Fury fight someone good. Chisora isn't horrible, but I want to see him fight a top 5 guy at least.

He beat Chisora a few years ago not sure why they were rematching in the first place. Well, they both talk hella shit and it would have sold well there That's why.

Fury called out Deontay Wilder. I'd love to see that.

Fury is obviously a big giant goof in the ring, but he's fucking hilarious. He's just good entertainment. Hughie Fury could be better. I think he fought 12 times last year.

And then there's Dempsey Fury. He probably sucks but Fuck, they have the best boxing names this family.

Yeah, you said it. Money talks. I wondered if Fury would ever make a run at a title or just be one of those side show acts in boxing that draws well but never challenges himself. Especially after seeing him get dropped hard by Cunningham, that really made me wonder. I think every real fan of boxing would love to see Fury/Wilder. I really am not a fan of heavyweight fights but I'd love to see that one. Seems like Wilder is chasing Stiverne though. I'd love to see that fight too. Really, if Wilder or Fury is fighting a decent opponent, I'd definitely watch it.

Fury is going to try and milk it as long as possible. Fighting up and comers, fringe contenders etc until one day he gets a Klitschko fight and cashes out. That is if he can stay unbeaten that long.

Although he did challenge David Haye. And Haye pulled out. Twice. So he obviously has balls because I'm sure Haye most thought Haye would knock him out cold.
