Former world champion Danny Garcia will fight former two-division world champion Robert Guerrero on Jan. 23 at Staples Center in the "Premier Boxing Champions on Fox" card.

Garcia (31-0, 18 knockouts) vacated his light-welterweight belt this year before defeating former welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi with a ninth-round technical knockout in August.

Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs), from Gilroy, Calif., participated in the PBC main event on NBC in March, losing to unbeaten Keith Thurman, and beating Aron Martinez by split-decision in June at StubHub Center.

Fox, which will broadcast three PBC fights in prime time through June as part of a multifight deal with manager Al Haymon's organization, will also televise the fight on Fox Deportes at 5 p.m. PST. Tickets, ranging from $25 to $300, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday on axs.com and at the Staples Center box office.

Guerrero, who lost a unanimous decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013, previously claimed featherweight and super-featherweight belts and boasts victories over Andre Berto and Joel Casamayor.

Garcia, from Philadelphia, has defeated Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, Erik Morales twice, Zab Judah and Lamont Peterson since 2012.

Adonis Stevenson's Promoter Reacts To Ring's Decision Adonis Stevenson's Promoter Reacts To Ring's Decision - Boxing News #boxing

Yvon Michel, promoter for WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (27-1, 22 KOs) was disappointed with Ring Magazine's decision to strip his fighter of their light heavyweight title. The magazine explained that their decision was based on Stevenson not facing any boxers ranked in their top five in the last two years. The last opponent that Stevenson fought within their top five was Tavoris Cloud in September 2013.Michel hopes their decision is not being influenced by rival promoter Golden Boy Promotions, who own the magazine. Golden Boy is involved in a legal dispute with Al Haymon, who manages Stevenson. There is also a legal tug of war between Michel and Golden Boy over the promotional contract of former middleweight champion David Lemieux. ;Due to a combination of circumstances, the champion did not face any of these boxers [in the top five]. We respect The Ring, which confirm that their decision was made according to its rules. We hope that this decision has nothing to do with the fact that the owner of the magazine, Golden Boy Promotions, is currently in legal dispute with the manager of Stevenson and his promoter; Michel said.Adonis Stevenson is and remains to be the WBC light heavyweight champion. He is also the linear champion of the division. His goal is always to unify the belts in 2016. Michel also explained five different items that prevented Stevenson from facing several highly ranked fighters in Ring's top five.

Kovalev was the mandatory challenger for Stevenson, but withdrew from the purse bid scheduled for May 2015.

Hopkins preferred to face Kovakev instead of Stevenson in 2014 and he confirmed his intention to fight at 168 pounds.

Pascal was the mandatory challenger to Adonis and the fight was scheduled for April 2015, but he preferred to fight Kovalev in March 2015, then he has an agreement for a rematch in January 2015.

Braehmer is happy to defend his Interim WBA Belt in Germany and after short discussion, he has shown no interest in confronting Adonis.

Alvarez fights against the No. 6 Isaac Chilemba on Saturday in a clash where the winner will become mandatory challenger to Adonis.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER'S ADVICE TO TERENCE CRAWFORD ON PACQUIAO: "IT'S NOT GOING TO BE EASY...HE'S A LOT BETTER THAN WHAT I THOUGHT"
By Ben Thompson | November 25, 2015
[IMG]

"If Terence Crawford happens to fight Manny Pacquiao, I want to let him know that it's not going to be easy. Even though I know I made it look easy, it's not going to be easy," stated retired undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, who cautioned undefeated jr. welterweight champion Terence Crawford about a potential clash with 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. Although Pacquiao has yet to decide the opponent for his anticipated return to the ring next April, Crawford is one of the frontrunners to land the assignment.

"The motherfukker can fight. He's a lot better than what I thought he was. From me being in the ring with Manny Pacquiao, I take my hat off to him and I can see why he went so far in his career. Terence Crawford gotta realize that Pacquiao is bigger and stronger than Yuriorkis Gamboa, and he hits harder," Mayweather explained during a recent conversation with FightHype.com. "Not taking anything away from Yuriorkis Gamboa because I think he didn't fight Yuriorkis Gamboa at 100%, but I don't ever want to take anything away from Terence Crawford because I like that kid. I really, really like that kid. I don't want to take anything away from him because he can really fight. He can fight, but I don't want him to think that just because I made it look that easy with Pacquiao, it's going to be that easy."

Former boxing champ O’Neil ‘Supernova’ Bell killed in Atlanta

A man killed Wednesday in an early morning robbery and shooting along a southwest Atlanta street was a former boxing champion from Jamaica who was living in in the metro area.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the man killed as 41-year-old O’Neil Bell.

Bell, whose nickname was “Supernova,” held the WBA, WBC and IBF cruiserweight boxing titles during a 13-year career that ended in 2011.

1 dead, 1 critical after shooting near bus stop

Channel 2 Action News reported that Bell and another man had just gotten off a MARTA bus on Harbins Road shortly after midnight and were walking down the street when a vehicle drove up with two men inside.

“We’re being told that there may have been some type of vehicle involved, a PT Cruiser, and robbery may be the motive,” Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton told Channel 2.

Responding officers found Bell dead in the street with a gunshot wound. He had also been stabbed, according to Channel 2.

“We actually had another victim who was shot in the right hip and transported down to Grady [Memorial Hospital] who’s in critical condition at this point,” Hampton said.

Police have not released the second man’s name, but his sister told Channel 2 that he was not with Bell, and that they only got off the bus at the same time.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 11/25:

Canelo-Cotto:
- Figured for Cotto to win he would have to outbox Canelo, so not entirely surprised the fight wasn't a slugfest.
- No official PPV numbers, but has been told it will be at least 900k.
- Not all PPV numbers are created equal regarding success/failure. A PPV needs to sell enough to cover costs, the total number isn't always most important because costs vary. The reason why a 900k (not official) number for Canelo-Cotto is a success vs. why a 900k number for a Floyd PPV is considered a failure.
- Had Jay Z assisted in promoting the fight certainly would have done even more buys.
- Canelo likely could be fighter of the year and have the KO of the year.
- HBO is going to replay Muira-Vargas, Canelo-Cotto, as well as Klitschko-Fury on Saturday.
- There is a rematch clause in the contract, so a rematch is certainly possible.
- The right fighter won, but thought the scorecards were too wide. Nearly every media person ringside had it 116-112 or 115-113 Canelo.
- Canelo vs. Bradley is very unlikely because Canelo is just too big. Now Cotto vs. Bradley would be interesting, but doubts Arum would make it.
- Nothing on who Canelo will fight next, but RN said he would fight on Cinco de Mayo weekend.
- Canelo vs. GGG, Cinco de Mayo weekend at Cowboy Stadium is not improbable, but most likely GGG and Canelo do not fight next.
- If Lemieux rebounded and got a couple wins, then a fight with Canelo would be interesting.
- More likely GGG gets the winner of Lee-Saunders, than Canelo.
- Cotto has always been a sore loser, just like Tito Trinidad.
- Canelo and GGG can negotiate a catchweight. If the fight goes to purse bid, they cannot negotiate a catchweight.
- GB fought against having the concert during the PPV, it was all Roc Nation. Thought it was a crap fest.
- There was a loud bang (sounded like a bomb) during the concert and many people in the stands ducked for cover. Many ringside didn't know what was going on. Roc Nation should apologize for it as it was dangerous and tasteless.
- Julian Jackson vs. Canelo? Jackson could KO anyone in boxing history at 154 or 160.
- Believes Weeks stopped the Muira-Vargas fight at the right time.
- Canelo likely to be mostly on PPV going forward, but his contract does allow him to be on regular HBO.
- In person very obvious how much bigger Canelo was vs. Cotto.
- The atmosphere in the arena was excellent.

The rest of boxing:
- Wlad KO's Fury in the mid-rounds.
- Does not know if Wlad-Fury has a rematch clause, but knowing Klitschko's camp they likely have one and paid well to get it.
- Wlad has told him he will fight for as long as he feels healthy. Not thinking about retirement.
- Bute will make a good account of himself, but DeGale will win. Picking DeGale by KO.
- It will be quite a while before Rigo is on HBO again. His performance actually made him not interested in a Lomachenko fight. His style remains amatuer and it is not fun to watch. Why did he land only 21% of his punches against a journeyman? Rigo did win every second of the fight. The judge who gave the opponent 3 rounds, must have dozed off.
- Arum said Manny should decide his next opponent in the next few days to week.
- JMM is not in the running to be Pacquiao's next opponent because JMM does not care to fight again.
- Thurman vs. Porter is apparently being moved to a later date TBD.
- Garcia vs. Guerrero is an okay fight, but not the one you want to see from PBC. Guerrero has looked done as a fighter his last 4 fights.
- Angel vs. Ruben is slightly more interesting than the fight, but is over their nonsense and not particularly interested in their antics.
- Thought Abraham beat Murray 7-5. The WBO ordered that Abraham fight Gilberto Ramirez next. A Hopkins vs. Abraham fight could not happen until after Abraham-Ramirez.
- Nothing new on what is next for Beterbiev. He is recovering from shoulder surgery.
- Kathy Duva says she is trying to work on getting Stevenson-Kovalev made in the summer.
- Rank Morales, Barrera, and Marquez? 1. Marquez, 2. Barrera, 3. Morales.
- Anthony Joshua is the best up and coming HW.
- Teddy Atlas was the one who voted Ward #1 in the ESPN PFP rankings.
- He was surprised Wlad is so low in their PFP rankings.
- Wilder and Glazkov are finalizing their fight. Espinoza is not right in saying the fight is signed. They are currently working on a rematch clause.
- Nobody gives a crap about Charlo vs. Campfort. There were better fights for Charlo/PBC at 154.
- Inoue will fight again on Dec. 29.
- Martinez vs. Salido 3 is happening next year. Don't expect a Muira-Vargas rematch right away.
- Robert Garcia and TR are very high on Saul Rodriguez.
- Unlikely Vargas gets a rematch with Bradley in 2016.
- Bradley vs. Ali is still a possibility.
- GGG would decapitate Lara.
- Ronnie Rios could possibly be on HBO again with the right fight.
- Ring magazine stripping Stevenson is completely pointless. He doesn't respect Ring magazine. Adonis is still the lineal champ, which is more important.
- Bob Foster was a true gentleman and nice guy. RIP.
- Thurman should be promoted to regular WBA champion next month when the WBA finally gets around to addressing the Floyd, belt situation.
- HBO likely not to show Lee-Saunders. There is a dispute between the promoters on who gets the US TV rights and HBO will not get in the middle and risk litigation. They would rather just pass on the broadcast.
- Haymon will not be hiring Taffert (HBO).
- They never announced the PPV buys for Mosley-Mayorga. Would have been lucky to do 10k.
- Spence vs. Brook? That fight is a long ways off...but Spence can compete with anyone at 147.
