Fat Dan Wrap 2/27:

Mayweather - Pacquiao news:

- Mayweather-Pacquiao was harder to make than Lewis-Tyson.

- Tickets are not available for Mayweather-Pacquiao yet. They have not done a seating chart or priced seats yet. The seats that are "available" are brokers pre-selling tickets that they hope they can secure tickets (when released) to fill those orders.

- Very likely there will be little to no public sale of tickets for Mayweather-Pacquiao.

- As what usually happens, Mayweather and Pacquiao's camp will be consulted on judges, and then the commission makes the final decision.

- There will be 7 fights on the card, 3 televised on the PPV.

- No confirmation yet if this PPV will be shown in theaters.

- He was told the gloves negotiation was done very easily and early on in the negotiations.

- No word on how much closed circuit tickets will be. Would not be surprised if they were $200. If the closed circuit was as big as it was for Mayweather vs. Hatton, there will be over 30,000 seats sold.

- Believes that fighting each other helps both fighters legacy, even if they lose. See: Hearns, Leonard, Hagler, and Duran. Fight the best and it adds to your legacy.

- Bob Arum and the MGM do not have a good relationship. It was likely one of the issues that had to be overcome in negotiations.

- From those involved, Manny and Floyd meeting at the Heat game wasn't critical to the fight getting made, but it definitely sped the process up.

- Arum and Haymon met face to face at Moonves' house in Beverly Hills. It was critical to getting the fight made. Les Moonves is credited as being the hero in helping get the fight made.

The rest of Boxing:

- TR looking for a new date for Nicholas Walters.

- Dulorme could be a difficult opponent for Crawford, but Crawford has elite talent and should win the fight.

- The winner of Matthysse-Provodnikov has a good chance at fighting Crawford, if he beats Dulorme. Thinks Matthysse is a tougher fight for Crawford.

- If Brook beats Dan, there is a good chance we could see Brook vs. Khan in the Summer.

- HBO wants GGG to fight 5/16. There really are no quality opponents available for that date. Possible opponents could be: Tureano Johnson, Willie Monroe, Hugo Centeno, or Sebastian Heiland...maybe even Korobov.

- He would be mildly interested in seeing GGG face Arthur Abraham.

- GGG and Cotto are not close in negotiating a fight.

- Best unmade fight right now? Cotto-Canelo.

- There was no bad blood between Cotto and Canelo in the negotiations. Fight could still happen later on. It would not shock him if it happened in September.

- Next opponent/date for Andre Ward? No updates and the schedule is starting to fill up. Fan questions he gets rarely have anything to do with Ward.

- This week's Sports Illustrated had advertising for Thurman-Guerrero, Broner-Molina.

- Has heard Rios, Bradley, and Bundrage names as opponents for Cotto in June.

- Gerald Tucker is training James Kirkland for the Canelo fight. Kirkland's manager prefers that he would train with Ann Wolfe.

- Boxers who wasted their talent more than Kirkland? Francisco Bojado and Ricardo Williams.

- Chris Arreola will return March 13 on Spike.

- Bey vs. Shavikov is going to a purse bid.

- Haymon is working on a time buy with ESPN. ESPN pays about $2-3 million to put on fights each year. Haymon could be offering $8 million to buy time.

- Ricardo Lopez was easily the best Strawweight of all time.

- Diego De La Hoya has looked good and is a prospect to watch. Has potential to be a top fighter at 122.

- He believes JCC ducked GGG.

- Seldin vs. Garcia? Seldin by KO.

- It appears as if Haymon is trying to setup Mares vs. LSC. Very possible for later in the year.

- Frampton vs. Avalos? Frampton.

- Don't expect Frampton to fight Rigo.

- Named his two cats after boxers: Popo (Freitas) and Thunder (Gatti).

- Roc Nation has no cards scheduled, although they do have 2 times buys left with FS1.

- Linares vs. Gamboa? ODH wanted to make the fight, but Gamboa wasn't interested and didn't want to fight at 135.

Former champ Oscar Diaz dead at 32

SAN ANTONIO -- Oscar Diaz, a former welterweight boxing contender whose career ended when he suffered a debilitating brain injury in a fight nearly seven years ago, has died. He was 32.

The Bexar County medical examiner's office confirmed Diaz died Thursday. The agency had yet to determine a cause of death Friday.

Diaz was in a coma for two months and spent seven months in a hospital after collapsing before the 11th round of a USBA welterweight championship fight against Delvin Rodriguez on ESPN2's "Wednesday Night Fights" in 2008. Diaz was 25 at the time.

After emergency brain surgery, doctors were unsure how Diaz would recover. His brother, Fernando Diaz, told the San Antonio Express-News recently that Diaz had been living in a San Antonio nursing home and could not walk on his own.

Fights with Haymon and TR won't happen. But I do believe TR and Showtime will start working together again. There is slots now on Showtime and fighters like Lomachenko, Donaire, Diego Chaves I can see TR fighting on Showtime. We'll see

The best fight at 122? El Chacal vs The Jackal??

I think Frampton can give Rigondeaux a run for his money. I bet this would be a tough fight to score. They fight in Ireland, hell, I can potentially see Frampon's hand being raised.

Forgot Leo Santa Cruz, this is the fight I want to see. Plus we all know LSC would get whooped by either of these guys.

Frampton would beat LSC if they fought. Frampton is legit, always thought he was. He won't fight Rigo next though, a fight with Scott Quigg is huge over there and they've been hyping it up for quite some time. Now that Framp fought his mandatory they can make that fight happen and it's big money for them both.

Frampton is not getting killed real quick by anyone at 122.

To answer the question I think Rigo beats him, but the way Rigo seems fond of hitting the deck at times I think Frampton can put him there and make it interesting.

Rigo would kill Frampton real quick. I think he feeds his ego and fucks around for 12 rds but vs Frampton, he'll do him worst than he did Donaire.
I don't think you know what you're talking about breh. Download Framptons fight from today, watch it, and watch his last fights against Kiko Martinez too if you haven't already, then come back and make a comment.

Dude is fast, has great footwork, good power, he's legit man. I'm not saying he'll beat Rigondeaux, what I'm saying is I bet it's a real close fight and that it's the best fight at 122.

Yeah he already said Quigg is next because of how big it will be there, but yesterday he was saying Rigondeaux is the man to beat and that's the fight he'll want after he takes care of Quigg.

I've been really impressed with Frampton, obviously he looked great against Martinez and today he made such easy work. I like what I see, he's clearly very talented.

Yeah I think he'll fight him, just won't be next. Rigo already said in that interview on A Los Golpes where he crushed LSC that he'd go to Ireland and fight him.

I'm surprised Rigo hasn't announced a fight yet, especially since he supposedly had some offers in Japan. Wake fought last night and won in a round, still think if he fights in Japan his next fight Wake coming.

I hope Rigo/Frampton does happen though. If Framp goes on to beat Quigg, which he should don't see the big hype for Quigg, it'll be clearly the two best fighters in the division.

Easily. I think they're the best two now, don't see anything special about Quigg at all.

Yeah Wake is going to be next for Rigondeaux, saw this from Gary Hyde a couple days ago:

Yeah, well right now Shingo Wake is the guy we were supposed to fight over there. He has said openly that he wanted to fight Rigondeaux. Now he fights on 27th February in Tokyo, and if he comes through that, they'll be reaching out to us, and then we'll be reaching out to them as well of course, and we'll make the fight there because there's nothing else for Rigondeaux right now. There's nobody else out there who'll fight him, and we have to go to Asia for it.

So makes sense for Frampton vs Quigg, Rigo vs Wake, and hopefully unify late 2015.

I'm not saying Frampton is not good, I'm saying Rigo would embarrass the crap out of him. And yeah I've seen some of his fights there is no need for DL any fights just watch youtube so I've been watching Frampton. There's too much talk of him not to watch him.

With Donaire, Rigo fought fire with fire. He sent Donaire to the hospital. Frampton has that type of power that Rigo would do the same to him, but the difference would be how Frampton would react to that? I think he would take the fall rather than get sent to the hospital. Framton would have problems with Rigo's stance alone he just won't connect and when Frampton puts his 1 out to measure Rigo, Rigo will uppercut him to the body. That's how he gets his opponents to drop their arms. framton does measure out more than he feints.

But is Maidana better than Bradley?
Not sure although would be a very interesting fight if those two fought and i think Maidana could beat Bradley. But regardless Maidana is much better than Algeri and Rios so whats your point? Got Em!!

^^No he's not.

Hey CZAR @CZAR curious on your thoughts about Manny getting a min of $80 million. Remember you and others were calling Pac an idiot for not accepting a flat fee of $40 million?! He's getting a minimum of double that now.

I dont have any thoughts about it. I knew Arum was the problem from the get go and Floyd was basically trying to get Manny to get out from under Arum. Like Bay Area said at one time Manny couldve gotten 50/50 so he still lost out on some loot. I just wanted the fight made as did Floyd and with Arum pimping Manny anyway he wont see all of that 80 mill lol. My question what are your thoughts about Floyd making the fight when alot of yall said he was scared and that the fight would never happen lol? See how this can go? The fight is here so talking about all the different offers and breakdowns are pointless now. Now its time to shut the Manny fans and Floyd haters up but delivering one of the greatest boxing lessons of all time. Got Em!!

The only way Cotto fights Floyd in September is if he drops the MW belt. The WBC has ordered Cotto (or whoever wins) to face GGG after his next fight.

President Mauricio Sulaiman says: ‘We have instructed Miguel that he must fight Gennady, as his mandatory challenger, next after his April fight, assuming of course that he wins."

And that was said yesterday so you can kiss Floyd making history for the belt goodbye.
