Depends on the contracts. Floyd has it written in his contract the opponent must do USADA testing. If Bradley is being truthful I'm sure his contract states both fighters will be tested under vada/usada.

Now of course, maybe top rank sent them both different contracts but even then if it specifically says in the contract that Bradley received BOTH fighters must be tested then he would have legal grounds to pull out if those requirements arent met.
Right.
I am saying Marquez may not have to do it because there is a strong chance he never agreed to it in the first place. His contract is still good. Then he can seek damages claiming he never voided his contractual agreement, and it was Bradley who pulled out due to something other than an injury. Seems like a dropped ball on behalf of TR.

I doubt Marquez is sitting there personally going against something he already agreed to. Seems like a legal dispute.

If I was Marquez and could get paid without fighting I may do the same.
It's not like Bradley is some huge ass pay day anyways. I don't think he could sell out a high school auditorium.

Bellew: I’ll beat Adonis Stevenson in style; he won’t get near me
July 31st, 2013 | Post Comment - 7 Comments

Bellew Stevenson Bellew vs. Stevenson tony bellew adonis stevenson By Scott Gilfoid: Britain’s Tony Bellew’s close 12 round decision win over Isaac Chilemba last May seems to have gone to his head, because Bellew is now talking nonsense about how he’s going to easily beat the talented WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (21-1, 18 KO’s) if and when the two fighters meet up on November 30th in Montreal, Canada.

It’s still not a dead certainty that it’ll be Stevenson that Bellew (20-1-1, 12 KO’s) will be facing on that date, because it could be former IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud if he gets past Stevenson in their fight in September. But Bellew will be facing one of those two, and either one is going to be a nightmare for the Liverpool fighter.

Bellew said to RingTV “Adonis Stevenson will feel something he has never felt before when I hit him. This guy is just a midget and he will struggle to get anywhere near me…It’s going to take a few rounds but at the end of the day I’ll win that fight in style.”

See what I mean? Bellew’s unimpressive clinch-filled win over Chilemba has Bellew acting like he can walk on water now. Some fighters are better off when they have zero confidence because once they get an insignificant win, it goes to their head and gets them thinking grand thoughts.

Let me be the breath of fresh air for Bellew. Look, you don’t have a chance against Stevenson, not one. Heck, you don’t even have a chance against Cloud. Both of these talents are too good for you. Just go back and fight Chilemba again, but this time without god awful clinching. I wish Jay Nady was working their 2nd fight because I think he would have had a field day taking points off for all that clinching Bellew was doing.

As far as the height thing goes, Bellew, 6’2 ½”, is shorter than the 5’11” Stevenson’s last opponent Chad Dawson, and we saw what Stevenson did to him in starching him in one round last June. Stevenson can land with major power no matter where he’s at. He can be in close in a clinch and still land with monstrous power. Bellew would have nowhere to hide against Stevenson

Andre Ward still with no opponent for September 28th
July 30th, 2013 | Post Comment - 65 Comments

andre ward By Scott Gilfoid: HBO has no interest in former WBA super middleweight champion Dimitri Sartison, Caleb Truax or interim WBA World super middleweight champion Stanyslav Kashtanov to face WBA 168 lb. champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO’s) for his next fight on September 28th, according to Dan Rafael.

HBO wants a fighter with some kind of name to face Ward, and the above mentioned fighters aren’t recognizable names to casual boxing fans in the U.S.

That leaves the 29-year-old Ward with very few options.
One less than appealing possibility for Ward is former WBO super middleweight champion Zsolt Erdei. His promoter is pushing hard for the fight with Ward. However, Erdie turns 40 on Wednesday, is coming off of a loss to Denis Grachev, and he’s just as much of an unknown as to U.S casual fans as Startison, Truax and Kashtanov.

If HBO has no interest in spending money in putting on a fight between Ward and one of those three fighters, then it’s hard to imagine them jumping for joy to see Ward fight 40-year-old Erdie given that he’s the same boat as the other unknowns.

Erdie was a decent champion years ago, but he never fought anyone good, so it was hard to really know how good Erdie was in his prime. He’s clearly not in his prime anymore, and I’d very surprised if HBO says yes to that mismatch.

Edwin Rodriguez would be a good option to fight Ward, but his promoter Lou Dibella isn’t interested in letting Rodriguez fight Ward, according to Rafael. I’m not surprised about that either, because Rodriguez would be easy pickings for Ward with the way that Rodriguez leaves himself open with his badly telegraphed looping shots. Ward beat him with straight punches and make him look silly.

There’s not much left in the division. If they could get one of the Dirrell brothers to fight Ward, I think that would be an outstanding fight, but the Dirrells know Ward and I don’t think it’s a fight that can be made with either of them.

Some of the other guys like James DeGale, Thomas Oosthuzen and Badou Jack would be decent opponents. But I can’t see HBO saying yes to those fights either, and I doubt any of them would want to fight a talented guy like Ward.

It might be that Ward and his promoter will have to scout out a light heavyweight to look for a fight, because if not they’re going to end up with an awful opponent that HBO won’t say yes to. They need to get someone like Lucian Bute, Jean Pascal, Ismayl Sillakh or Denis Grachev.

Ward’s problems trying to find an opponent that HBO would say yes to would be solved if only Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler were to say yes to a fight with him, but neither of them are in a hurry to fight him now. It’s not surprising because Ward spanked both of them with ease in the Super Six Tournament. Ward also can’t get WBO champion Robert Stieglitz to face him either.

WBC gives Vitali an extension on purse bid for Stiverne fight
July 30th, 2013 | Post Comment - 29 Comments
9 1 20 Share 4

Klitschko Stiverne Klitschko vs. Stiverne vitali klitschko By Allan Fox: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) has reportedly been given an extension by the World Boxing Council after asking for one for his purse bid with mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO’s). It’s unknown what Vitali is waiting for as far as the purse bid goes. He seems to want to take the fight, but he’s postponed the purse bid twice.

Stiverne’s manager Camille Estephan isn’t happy about it, and he’s wondering what’s going on with the 42-year-old Vitali. Estephan doesn’t understand why Vitali keeps getting extension after extension for the purse bid.

Estephan said to ESPN “It’s a bit frustrating to hear only two days before the scheduled purse bid that it has once again been postponed. We are waiting for a new date…the longer Klitschko plays politics rather than man up and fight, the more ready we will be and the older he will get. Bermane will KO him.”

The WBC needs to be firm with Vitali and give him one last shot by setting a deadline. If Vitali can’t make it then they need to strip him of the title and let Stiverne fight one of the contenders for the vacant WBC title rather than having Vitali postpone the purse bids.

Vitali hasn’t fought since last year when he beat Manuel Charr in an optional title defense in Moscow, Russia. Before that, Vitali had another optional title defense in beating Britain’s Dereck Chisroa by a 12 round unanimous decision last year in February.

Vitali really had what you’d call a big fight since he captured the WBC title against Samuel Peter back in 2008. Vitali has successfully defended his WBC title 9 times, but without any of the fights coming against big names or against guys that had a chance to beat him. Vitali recently had the option to fight David Haye, but instead he chose not to take the fight for some reason.

Stevens On Ggg : "he Hasn't Faced A Puncher Yet

By Ryan Burton
On Saturday, Curtis Stevens will face Saul Roman in Connecticut in a bout that will be broadcast on NBC Sports. Stevens visited with us on the latest edition of BoxingScene Radio to talk about the fight and his future plans.
The Brooklyn, NY native said that he respects Roman and knows he's a good fighter. He does however doubt that his opponent can withstand hia power.
"I got Saul in front of me. He's a Mexican. He comes to fight and I do too. People will see a good fight on Saturday. He's been down but he gets back up. We'll see if he can handle my power," Stevens stated.
Stevens feels that he is ready to fight for a title but doesn't think there is much incentive for the belt holders to face him right now so he wants to increase his profile.
"I would love a shot at the end of 2013 but it's not really up to me. The champs have to give me a shot. I am high risk. I have devastating power. I can end a fight with one shot," Stevens explained.

A fight that has been mentioned as a possibility is Stevens facing Gennady Golovkin on November 2nd at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Stevens said he would love to face him and is curious to see if GGG can take his power.
"I would love it. We haven't seen him get tested yet. We haven't seen him get hit by a decent puncher. He caught Macklin with an excellent body shot but we saw that he (Macklin) was already scared sh*tless. They are trying to make him into a monster. Not taking anything away from him. He gets it done in there but they haven't put him in with a guy who can punch," Stevens told BoxingScene Radio.

Have you seen/read the Marquez interviews? He's using really slick language saying he agreed to the extra testing, but Nevada uses "the same protocol" so what's the problem (which obviously isn't true). Here are some recently JMM statements:

Jorge: "At any point did you refuse to undergo anti doping?"

Marquez "At no point at all, in the face off we accepted. Wherever, whenever, I'm open for either VADA or USADA to come test me. I've been a pro for 20 years and I've never turned up positive for anything"

Then he goes on to say,

"I don't know where Bradley is getting any of this from because whichever agency decides to do the testing...it's gonna be the same protocol, be it NSAC, WADA, USADA, VADA"

Jorge: Why is the NSAC involved when they have nothing to do with VADA or USADA

"Look, this is all voluntary, none of this is an obligation but I'm very willing to do this to clear my name, I understand that rumors have been circulating about me in the U.S, so again the protocol is the same regardless of which agency does it but the NSAC wants to participate because after all...the fight is in Las Vegas, the commission has to take part, and it will be an examination that consists of both blood and urine testing, not solely urine where we know things can go undetected where as through blood...that's impossible, so again...the protocol is the same, I don't know what Bradley wants"

Dude tried to choke El Mexicanito at the weigh in, but Kameda wins helping to set record

The Kameda family is now forever etched into the history books.

Tomoki Kameda bested Paulus Ambunda by unanimous decision to win a* bantamweight belt Thursday evening in Cebu, Philippines. The feat makes the* Kameda brothers the first trio in boxing history to have all won a major* title.*

Scores were 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112 in favor of Kameda, who also becomes* the first ever fighter from Japan to win a WBO belt.

Kameda literally had his family in corner for the anticipated historic* moment. His father served as chief second, while older brothers Koki (presently* a bantamweight titlist) and Daiki (former 115 lb. beltholder in pursuit of a* second title*reign) served as corner assistants. All sported pink t-shirts* with "3" on the front and references to Guinness Book of World Records on the* back.

The 22-year old*certainly did his part to ensure the family's place in* boxing history, utilizing his three-inch height advantage as he boxed* beautifully in the early rounds. Ambunda, an unbeaten titlist from Namibia,* tried his hardest to leave as champion, but simply couldn't work his way inside.* Worse, his leaky defense made for an inviting body attack on the occasions when* Kameda chose to stand and trade.

Ambunda punched his way into the fight in round five, the first round he won* outright on all three scorecards. Kameda spent most of the round avoiding the* incoming, tactics which would lose him rounds even in his native Japan - where* such movement is regarded by the nation's officials as "giving your ground."*

Any chance of momentum swaying in favor of the defending titlist came to a* screeching halt one round later. Kameda was back in control by round six,* alternating between lateral movement and banging Ambunda's body like a drum.* Ambunda hit the deck towards rounds end, but the sequence was correctly ruled a* slip.

The second half of the fight was similar to the preceding rounds. Kameda* remained in control for as long as he wanted, building up a massive enough lead* to where he could afford to take a break whenever he felt the need.

With three minutes to go, though, the adrenaline began to flow as he saw* history well within his reach. Kameda emphatically sealed the round, complete* with a last second knockdown which either went undetected or virtually ignored* by the referee as the fight came to a close.

The reading of the scorecards was a mere formality, other than to cement* Kameda's place in boxing history for his nation and for his family on a much* larger scale. The youngest of the fighting brother trio was understandably* emotional once officially announced as winner and new bantamweight titlist.

"This is a dream come true, for myself and my father. All brothers*have* now become champions," said a tearful Tomoki before turning to his family for* his final shout out. "Thank you for aiding me."

Ambunda, who turns 33 next week, falls to 20-1 (10KO). The fight was his* first outside of Namibia.

Kameda's win marks just the second time*in boxing history where brothers* simultaneously reign as titlists in the same weight class. Both moments are* currently in the present - Tomoki and Koki both serve as bantamweight titlists,* while Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko are in possession of all of the alphabet* hardware.

The Kameda family could have company on its tail. The thought of three* brothers winning titles - even in an era of splintered championships - is a rare* feat, but the Morales brothers are within reach of the same goal. Ivan Morales* is a rising super flyweight contender; a future title win would join Diego* and*his far more famous older brother Erik Morales*as family members* who have claimed champion status.

Still, there is more history to be made for the Kamedas. Middle brother* Daiki, previously a super flyweight titlist, is a month - and a win - away from* a potential second title reign, as he faces Rodrigo Guerrero for a vacant belt* in September.

A win by Daiki would mark a feat that will most likely never be matched, as* all three brothers would simultaneously serve as active title holders.

Nothing is forever - there will be future fighters from Japan to win WBO* belts. As mentioned, the Morales family could become the next trio of brothers* to claim championship status. There could even be another set of three brothers* to win belts at the same time.

But the thing about history is that there can only be one first for each* category. Tomoki Kameda's efforts Thursday evening in the Philippines secured* that right for his family.

Mosley: If $1.5 Million Is In Writing, I'll Retire Mundine

Rick Reeno

Former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley (47-8, 39KOs) is ready to pack his bags. The veteran is reportedly being offered $1.5 million to face Anthony Mundine (44-5, 26KOs) at 154-pounds in Australia. If the offer of $1.5 million is sent in writing, Mosley is ready execute his portion of the deal. Mundine has stated that he already signed his side of the deal.

Mosley last fought in May and won a twelve round decision over Pablo Cesar Cano. Mundine (44-5, 26KOs) dropped a twelve round decision in his last fight, which came in January against IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale.

In a recent interview, Mundine promised "to retire" if Mosley defeated him the fall.

"If that's what he wants to do, then he's going to retire. I'm going to retire him because I'm not losing again. I'm not going to lose, so he's going to retire," Mosley told BoxingScene.com.

WBO orders Roman Martinez vs. Mikey Garcia

Garcia Martinez Garcia vs. Martinez roman martinez mikey garcia By Dan Ambrose: WBO super featherweight champion Roman Martinez (27-1-2, 16 KO’s) has until October to fight against #1 WBO, Mikey Garcia (33-0, 27 KO’s) or else they’ll strip Martinez of his title.

The World Boxing Organization ordered the mandatory defense for Martinez despite the fact that he recently defened his WBO title against his mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Burgos 6 months ago in January. It looks like the WBO is in a hurry to have Roman Martinez face Mikey Garcia for some reason.

Mikey lost his WBO featherweight title last June when he failed to make weight for his mismatch against Juan Manuel Lopez. The fight still went ahead with Mikey destroying Lopez in the 4th round, but they WBO featherweight strap was stripped from.

Surprisingly, Mikey is still talking about wanting to possibly move back down in weight to featherweight depending on how things go with his bout against WBO super featherweight champion Roman “Rocky” Martinez.

It looks like Mikey sees the featherweight division as a safety net for him to fall back to if he starts getting punched around at super featherweight. Mikey should do well at super featherweight, because most of the really solid fighters have left the division and moved up in weight. Mikey would have BIG problems if Adrien Broner and Yuriorkis Gamboa were still fighting at that weight.

Mikey would have to be steered around those guys because they would no doubt beat him. That’s not to say that Mikey wouldn’t have his moments early in this fights, but once he started having to eat big shots from either of those guys, I can see Mikey getting hurt and maybe suffering another injury that requires to be stopped like his fight with Orlando Salido was last January when Mikey started getting hit.

Martinez, 30, has not looked good lately, beating Diego Magdaleno by a 12 round split decision last April, and fighting to a 12 round draw against Juan Carlos Burgos last January. Martinez appears ready for the taking, and Top Rank is going well to position Mikey to fight him.

Marcos Maidana to Adrien Broner: 'Shut up and fight me'

By Scott Christ S @scott christBLH on Aug 1 2013, 7:23p 39

How long does it take to get Marcos Maidana's attention? Not long, apparently.

It didn't take more than a few hours for Marcos Maidana to get wind of Adrien Broner's latest verbal tirade, which was directed toward Maidana (and to a lesser extent, Lucas Matthysse), as Broner said that anyone who thinks Maidana can beat him is a "damn fool," and that after he was done with that fight, he'd take out Matthysse.

Maidana (34-3, 31 KO) is not one for poetic statements, nor does he care for the shocking or titillating trash talk that often rules the day and steals headlines in boxing's rather perverse little world. Instead, he kept it simple:

Screen_shot_2013-08-01_at_7

Well, that's about all he needed to say, I guess. It's certainly no secret that Maidana definitely wants to fight Broner (27-0, 22 KO) for "The Problem's" WBA welterweight title, and a lot of fans have talked up that potential matchup, too. It seems a dangerous style clash for both men, and with Broner struggling with Paulie Malignaggi, there is some belief that he's not yet ready for a puncher like Maidana at 147 pounds.

Maybe we'll actually find out, if they both just shut up and fight.

Adrien Broner: 'When I'm done with Maidana, I'm going to f*** Matthysse up'

By Scott Christ S @scott christBLH on Aug 1 2013, 6:56p 71
USA TODAY Sports

WBA welterweight titlist took to Twitter today to vent about Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse, and his "haters."

Adrien Broner is taking Twitter aim at two fighters that fans have said they'd love to see him face soon, Argentina's Marcos Maidana and Lucas Matthysse. There has been some talk about making a Broner-Maidana fight for later this year for Broner's WBA welterweight title, but it also seems possible that Broner will move back down to 140 or even 135, as he has not vacated his WBC lightweight belt yet.

This evening, Broner had this to say on his unpredictable Twitter account (extremely edited for clarity):

"I see a lot of people hating on me and my decisions. Well listen, I ain't perfect, but I know one thing I'm undefeated and young and on top. ... I love my haters and the ones who love me. You're a damn fool if you think Marcos Maidana can beat me! And when I'm done when this bitch Maidana I'm going to fuck Matthysse up. Easy money."

Broner (27-0, 22 KO) is coming off of a debated split decision win over Paulie Malignaggi in his welterweight debut on June 22, and said after that fight that he'd let the fans decide his next opponent. That didn't mean a vote or anything, but if it meant anything it all, it seems to be that he'd listen to the talk and go from there. Maidana (34-3, 31 KO) has been one of the top names mentioned. He holds a minor WBA title and is promoted by Golden Boy, so he's available. Maidana stopped Josesito Lopez on June 8 in California.

This fight has already been talked about a good bit, but now that we're a bit removed from their recent performances, who would you pick if it goes down? Is Maidana too strong, or can Broner use his speed and craft advantages to overwhelm the gritty contender?

As for Matthysse, that's just idle talk for now. Lucas is teed up to face Danny Garcia on September 14 in one of the most highly-anticipated fights of 2013

Klitschko vs Povetkin: HBO to air fight in United States

By Scott Christ S @scott christBLH on Aug 1 2013, 5:11p 11
Alex Grimm
Stay connected

The biggest heavyweight fight of the year will come to the biggest boxing carrier in the U.S. in October.

Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin are still on to finally fight on October 5, and Dan Rafael of ESPN.com reports via Twitter that HBO will air the fight live from Russia that afternoon. The fight will be for the WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles, all held by Klitschko (though Povetkin holds a lesser version of the WBA title, too).

Klitschko (60-3, 51 KO) hasn't fought on HBO since 2011, when his much-hyped fight with David Haye was an in-ring dud. HBO has largely gotten out of the heavyweight business, but with Golden Boy no longer doing business with the network, star fighters like Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko could be featured more frequently on HBO airwaves again. Vitali's last fight in September 2012 was shown on HBO, but via tape delay, and partially used to help promote the airing of the Klitschko documentary.

Both Klitschkos have been featured on Epix in recent years, too, as has Povetkin. For now, Epix is reportedly out of the boxing business, which is hardly a surprise given the lack of buzz they were able to build and the relative unavailability of the channel.

Povetkin (26-0, 18 KO) has actually not been seen on HBO since January 2008, when he beat Eddie Chambers. That fight was supposed to set up Klitschko-Povetkin, which was originally scheduled for December 2008, then later in summer 2009, and neither fight actually happened.

We have two months until fight night for this one, but so far, so good. HBO will also have a doubleheader from Orlando that night, featuring Miguel Cotto vs Delvin Rodriguez and Terence Crawford, so a tape delay airing will likely also be paired with those bouts.

Rafael Marquez vs. Efrain Esquivias & Josesito Lopez vs. Aaron Martinez on September 6th
August 1st, 2013 | Post Comment - 1 Comment
15 1 26 Share 3

Marquez Esquivias Marquez vs. Esquivias Lopez Martinez Lopez vs. Martinez rafael marquez josesito lopez By Dan Ambrose: As part of the Chris Arreola vs. Seth Mitchell card on HBO on September 6th, 38-year-old former two division world champion Rafael Marquez (41-8, 37 KO’s) will be facing Efrain Esquivias (16-2-1, 9 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout, and welterweight Josesito Lopez (30-6, 18 KO’s) will be trying to halt his 2-fight losing streak against Aaron Martinez (19-2-1, 4 KO’s) in a 10 round bout at the Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California, USA.

This really isn’t much of an undercard. Marquez is way, way past his prime and Josesito Lopez’s 15 minutes of fame appears to be over now that he’s been stopped by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Marcos Maidana in back to back fights.

Marquez’s career has really gone downhill after his four fights with Israel Vazquez. Marquez has lost 3 out of his last five fights and looks nothing like the fighter he once was in his 20s and early 30s. He’s coming off of a 9th round stoppage loss to Christian Mijares from last October in a fight that he didn’t look good at all in after the first few rounds. Marquez was also beaten by Toshiaki Nishioka in a 12 round decision loss in October 2011, and beaten by Juan Manuel Lopez in an 8th round stoppage defeat in November 2010.

At this point it’s difficult to figure out why Marquez is still fighting other than the paychecks he gets for the fights. His chances of winning another world title are slim at his age, and even getting another world title would seem out of the question unless one of the featherweight champions choose to fight him due to his name recognition value.

Esquivias, 30, has lost two out of his last three fights in defeats against Rico Ramos and Jhonatan Romero. In his last fight, he fought to a 2nd round technical draw against Victor Sanchez.

Josesito Lopez needs to stop the bleeding with his career, as he’s lost his last two fights to Maidana and Canelo.

Those are two good fighters, but the fact he lost those fights. Joesito doesn’t seem to have a place at welterweight, and he would be far better off moving down to 140 and using his size against the smaller fighters at that weight. At welterweight, Josesito doesn’t stack up against the top fighters in the division.

lol Maidana knows the deal. You can run your mouth all you want, you still gonna catch an ass whooping when Broner steps in the ring with him.
