Ward was the one who went public with his support. He put it out there in the public and Floyd responded. Why is there a problem when he spoke the truth? Outside of hardcore boxing fans, the bay area and one or two people who keep up with the Olympics, no one knows of Ward. And I don't think it's a matter of color but more of a "who the fuck are you again?" type of thing.

don't get me wrong floyd did Ward a favor by mentioning his name but he came off a little hurt that ward was cheering for guerero and I was with Floyd about the whole religion thing. I hate when fighters use their religion and act like God is on one person's side over the other.

Exactly. It was meant to be disrespectful, even though NOTHING Ward said was disrespectful (based on reading the article you provided), but you have to turn it into an issue. If Floyd had said, "Yeah yeah, it's ok" it wouldn't be an issue. He's just creating issues to generate talk about the fight, nothing more and now more people are going to ask about Ward, his career, his relationship with Guerrero, etc. Has he ever gone out in the public and voiced his support of Guerrero in a pro fight? I don't think so but he is doing it now because this is the biggest stage in boxing right now, so he has to have an opinion.

Floyd has had that type of relationship with EVERYONE except Roger at some point. People think I don't like him because I'm a fan of some other boxer. I don't like him because he frequently hurts the sport by not making the best matchups, is a woman beater, and throws bitch type tantrums like this on the regular. It's the reason why he's homies with people like Judah and 50 Cent then they put him on blast not long afterwards.

Floyd has always supported Ward though and has called him on numerous occasions before his fights to wish him luck and boost him up. Nothing wrong with the way that Ward answered.

Where did Floyd say Ward should be rooting him on because he's black? Did I miss something? Floyd has said something like that in the past in regards to Manny Pacquiao but I didn't see anything with this recent interview maybe I missed something.

But it doesn't look like Floyd cares about who Ward is rooting for to be honest.

If anything... Guerrero's dad is trippin' talkin' about being 30-0 in street fights and being raised in the barrio.

I hear you bro. It doesn't seem far fetched. But anybody can get it. If his dad was that good of a fighter then why didn't he fight professionally? Not saying he's a bum but obviously he's been beating up on tomatoe cans on the street or hood/barrio he's from. 30-0? lmfao....

I live in the bay area and a while ago my cousin used to live in Gilroy. They moved because he said that someone got shot in the apartment below. I grew up in a tough area too and used to always get into fights because these older mf's wanted to see us as kids fight just to fight. I been in plenty of fights instigated by other people. I had to fight so I wouldn't look like a punk.

My point is... everywhere you go has their tough hoods. I've never been to Detroit but it's probably tough and rough there too.... probably tougher than Gilroy. So I really don't see Ruben's point. OG Floyd used to push dope and went to the pen and like he said, he was street fightin' before he became a professional boxer.

Dawson Stevenson Dawson vs. Stevenson chad dawson adonis stevenson By Scott Gilfoid: Having failed to get IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch to face him in the ring, #1 IBF 168 lb. contender Adonis Stevenson (19-1, 16 KO’s) will be moving up in weight to face WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (31-2, 17 KO’s) in a fight that will be taking place in June, according to Steve Kim.

Nemzetisport.hu is reporting the fight will take place on June 8th, provided that the 35-year-old Stevenson get past journeyman Darnell Boone (19-20-3, 8 KO’s) this month in their fight on March 22nd at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Boone already knocked Stevenson out 2nd round three years ago, and Stevenson wants to avenge the fight.
Normally, that would be pretty much a given that Stevenson would beat someone like Boone, but Stevenson likes to slug and that’s not something you want to do against the powerful Boone.

Dawson, 30, had been hoping to get a rematch against former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, who beat Dawson by a 11th round technical decision three years ago in August 2010, but Pascal has opted to face former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute on May 25th in a battle between two Canadian based fighters.

If Stevenson can get past Boone, then he’s a good bet to beat Dawson if he can land one of his big shots. However, if Stevenson is unable to KO Dawson then he’ll lose that fight because Dawson will have a huge height and reach advantage over the 5’10” Stevenson. Adonis is a good fighter, but he’s no Andre Ward, and he doesn’t have great boxing skills.

You’d have to think that Stevenson will lose his #1 IBF ranking at 168 by challenging Dawson. However, it really doesn’t matter because it’s not as if Froch or Mikkel Kessler is going to ever fight him. I can see Froch vacating his IBF strap in order to avoid fighting Stevenson, and Kessler certainly won’t fight him either. Kessler has an excuse not to ever fight Stevenson just based on the fact that he’s not ranked in the top 5 by the WBA.

By the time Stevenson does get ranked, if that was something he wanted to do, he’d be nearing 38. It’ll take years for him to get ranked by the WBA, and like I said, I don’t see Kessler agreeing to fight him. Froch and Kessler will never voluntarily fight a slugger like Stevenson. As such, Stevenson might as well move up to 175 for the fight with Dawson because it isn’t as if anyone will fight him at 168. I mean, Andre Ward would if Stevenson got ranked high enough by the WBA and WBC.

matthew macklin julio cesar chavez jr By Dan Ambrose: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says his fighter former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32 KO’s) will be back in the ring on June 22nd against possibly Brian Vera or Matthew Macklin in a fight that will be televised by HBO from Texas.

The interesting part about this is Golden Boy Promotions is also scheduled to have a fight televised by HBO on the same night between WBA World welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi and WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner.

These fights can’t happen on the same network on the same night because they’re different promotional shows. One of them will either have to fight on Showtime or look for another date.

Arum said to esnewsreporting.com “We wanted him [Chavez Jr] to fight on June 15th. The Nevada Commission took the position that the suspension doesn’t run out until the morning of June 16th. Instead, HBO is giving him the date of June 22nd, and we’re going to do the fight in Texas. Lou [Dibella] has a fighter [Macklin]; [Brian] Vera had some victories.”
There’s no way Chavez Jr. will be fighting on the same HBO broadcast as

Broner-Malignaggi. One of these two fights is going to have to be moved, and my guess it’s going to be the lesser fight involving Chavez Jr. His fight is going to be a mismatch anyway involving Vera or Macklin, so he shouldn’t mind having his fight moved off to another date or network.

Chavez Jr. has been looking really heavy recently in his training photos. He tweeted photos of himself working out on a stairmaster and a treadmill yesterday, and looked to be at least 200 pounds. My guess is he’s weighing in the neighborhood of 210. He’s huge. He’s got three months to take off the weight, but he’s still likely to be at least 190 when he steps inside the ring on June 22nd to face Vera or Macklin.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t make weight for the fight. It won’t matter all that much because this isn’t a title fight given that he lost his WBC middleweight title in his last fight against Sergio Martinez last year in September. Chavez Jr. is still serving out his suspension for that fight for failing the post-fight drug test after testing positive for Marijuana.

Chavez Jr. will have little problems with Vera and Macklin. Those guys can’t move very much, and they tend to come right at you. Vera might come into the fight weighing in the 180s, but it won’t matter. He’s not in Chavez Jr’s class and he’ll get taken out.
