I know, tell me about it. One of my favorite fighters.

The details are interesting though, shows how easily one can avoid testing by cycling off at the right time. Even if you have Olympic style testing you can easily avoid getting busted since they only test you during training camp. Donaire is the only fighter in the sport who is above suspicion since he's tested randomly year round.

DEMARCUS CORLEY: "TO ALL THE LIGHTWEIGHT FIGHTERS...TAKE THE NIPPLE OUT OF YOUR MOUTHS"
By John Russell | January 30, 2013

"To all the lightweight fighters, tell your managers to stop pacifying you! Take the nipple out of your mouths and tell them to let you fight. If any one of y'all fighters are man enough to step in the ring and get blessed, come on, I'll bless you nicely at 135, lightweight. I'm not at 140 no more. If any of y'all lightweights out there are ready for a test, come on and get blessed," stated former jr. welterweight champion DeMarcus Corley, he made it clear that he's ready, willing, and able to take on anyone in the lightweight division. Check out what else he had to say about his future plans and more!

JR: Demarcus, I understand you have an announcement you want to make.

DC: To all the lightweight fighters, tell your managers to stop pacifying you! Take the nipple out of your mouths and tell them to let you fight. If any one of y'all fighters are man enough to step in the ring and get blessed, come on, I'll bless you nicely at 135, lightweight. I'm not at 140 no more. If any of y'all lightweights out there are ready for a test, come on and get blessed."

JR: Is this announcement due to an issue of money? How soon are you looking to get back in the ring?

DC: I don't need the money. I'm looking to get in the ring immediately. I'm working with Angel [Garcia] now. He's in my corner, he's training me, and he's still training Danny, so I'm ready.

JR: So you're looking to surround yourself with a new team?

DC: It's time for me to finish my career on top. I need to be with a team [Garcia] that's going to push me and be in my best interest when fighting and outside of the ring. As far as me working with Angel and Team Garcia, it's about a 80% done deal right now. We were working and talking every day when I was in camp with Danny. Angel is working on finding me something. We are going back and forth with DiBella Entertainment. DiBella wants me to go back to fight for a title that I vacated. Why would I fight for that title again? I'm not 140 no more. When I was champion, they didn't want to come fight me. It's a no-win situation for me and I've been in that boat too many times.

JR: Speak to me more on the DiBella situation. What's going on there?

DC: I have one fight left on the contract with DiBella, but the people at DiBella keep on saying to me that no one wants to fight me in the United States. I'm like, how is that possible? I'm an old man. Anybody can beat an old man, right? Isn't that what they say?

JR: You are right, however, there were rumors circulating for a while about you possibly fighting Paul Spadafora in 2013. Was this just a rumor? Where are you at regarding that fight?

DC: We haven't heard nothing back from Roy's [Jones Jr.] people. Roy hit me up on Twitter saying he wanted to make the fight. We told him we'll do it, just send the paperwork over and go from there. Roy and his people never put the paperwork up to my promoter, so there is no fight with Paul Spadafora.

JR: Is there anything else on your mind Chop Chop?

DC: Yeah, if they're still looking for an opponent for Vicente Escobedo, I mean, I'm available.

JR: I think he has Edner Cherry for that February show.

DC: Well, I'll take the winner of that match. 135, lightweight, I'm ready!

DANNY GARCIA: "AIN'T NOBODY SCARED OF HIM...HE'S A NOBODY...HE GOT FEMALE GENETICS"
By Percy Crawford | January 29, 2013

"Ain't nobody scared of him. I just got injured and that comes with the territory of boxing. We are in a contact sport. Some people break hands, pull muscles, and some break ribs. It's just what happens. I'm in the best shape of my life. I was only 5 pounds away from my weight when I got hurt. I felt great…Why would I be scared of him? He's a nobody…we gonna shut his mouth. I don't even know why he talking because he know he ain't gonna win (laughing). He talk more than a female. He sound like a female. Only females gossip like he is. He sounds like a female. He got female genetics, but we gonna handle that in April," stated unified jr. welterweight champion Danny Garcia, who spoke about his rib injury that forced the postponement of his fight and addressed recent comments made by Zab Judah. Check it out!

PC: A lot is being said about you right now; most of it coming from Zab Judah. Just explain the injury and how it happened if you can? From what I understand, you wanted to go ahead with the fight, but Angel brought in a doctor and said it was a no-go.

DG: The fight is not cancelled; it's just postponed to another date. We are gonna fight in April, so I wanted to clear that up first off. I suffered a rib injury last Saturday during sparring. When I got done sparring, I felt a pain in my side and I went and got an X-Ray and they said I had a bruised rib, which was a bruise in between my muscle and my rib, which is really painful. So every time I would work out or something, it would hurt me, so I said, "You know what? I'm going to give it another week to work itself out," and I tried to spar the following Saturday and I couldn't because the pain was too severe.

PC: I'm not sure if you have read some of the things Judah is saying, but one of the things he said is that he heard you weren't in shape and you're scared of him. Can you address that?

DG: I'm in the best shape of my life right now. Ain't nobody scared of him. I just got injured and that comes with the territory of boxing. We are in a contact sport. Some people break hands, pull muscles, and some break ribs. It's just what happens. I'm in the best shape of my life. I was only 5 pounds away from my weight when I got hurt. I felt great. I was in great shape and the best thing is the fight is still gonna happen. It's just gonna go down in April and I'm not pulling out of this fight for no other reason than the fact that I got hurt. I wanted to fight. Why would I be scared of him? He's a nobody!

PC: If memory serves me correct, this is the first fight you have ever had to pull out of, so it's not like people can say, "Danny Garcia always does this."

DG: Yeah, and I had to pull out of this one because I can't go into the ring at 50%. My ribs are hurt, so I can't even jog. Anybody that has had a bruised rib before knows exactly how I feel. It takes the same amount of time to heal as a broken rib. The only thing I can do is rest. I can't do anything to it or ice it or anything. The doctor said I gotta just sit around and do nothing.

PC: What was the time table you were given as far as training and getting back in the gym?

DG: 4 weeks, and it's already been 1 week, so 3 more weeks.

PC: Like I said, Zab had a lot to say on Twitter. I even think he went back and forth with your man Matthew. Is there anything you want to say directly to Zab at this point?

DG: Man, I ain't got nothing to say to him, but injuries happen in this sport. I was in the best shape…I'm still in the best shape of my life, and I would never go into a championship fight out of shape or injured. I was in the best shape and I just got injured. But the fight is still happening, so I don't know why he is acting like the fight is not happening. We still fighting in April. He just gotta…honestly, that gives him a little more time to be in the spotlight because after this fight, there ain't no more for him.

PC: I know Zab is the guy in front of you and you are only focused on him, but I saw so many tweets after the Lucas Matthysse knockout of Mike Dallas with people saying you were probably scared to death of Lucas. What did you think of the knockout and of Matthysse?

DG: I mean, he scored a good knockout. It was a clean shot. He did what he was supposed to do. Mike Dallas is my friend. I knew him since the amateurs. He's a good dude. But you know…he did what he had to do. To me, he didn't really beat nobody. Every time he stepped up to a championship fight or a top level fighter, he lost. Even though it was controversial, it doesn't matter, he still lost. He is a good fighter, but if he want it, he can get it too.

PC: I won't keep you. I know you are resting up. I appreciate the time. Is there anything else you want to say before I let you go?

DG: No doubt, man. I will be back in April and we gonna shut everybody up and we gonna shut his mouth. I don't even know why he talking because he know he ain't gonna win (laughing). He talk more than a female. He sound like a female. Only females gossip like he is. He sounds like a female. He got female genetics, but we gonna handle that in April.

PC: Before I let you go, because I hate to just address the hate, you do have a lot of fans and support. Is there anything you want to leave them with?

DG: To all my fans, I'm sorry that I can't fight on February 9th because of my injury. Injuries happen in this sport. But on April 27th, it's going to be an epic night for me and my fans and we are gonna be on top of the world again. It's going to be easy work that day.

PC: No matter what you do, you are that guy that will always have doubters it appears.

DG: I'm always gonna be the underdog. It's crazy because all I do is keep winning. Whoever they put in front of me, I'm knocking out and they still never pick me, but I don't even care about that.

PETER QUILLIN: "I'M PRAYING FOR GUERRERO TO STAY FOCUSED...I'M COMING FOR HIM ON APRIL 27"
By Press Release | January 29, 2013

His first world title defense has been delayed, due to the postponement of the originally scheduled Showtime Championship Boxing event on February 9, but undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight champion Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (28-0, 20 KOs) is rollin' with the punches and preparing for his April 27th fight against challenger Fernando Guerrero (25-1, 19 KOs) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The Feb. 9 card was postponed because of an injury to Danny Garcia, who is fighting Zab Judah in the main event. Quillin vs. Guerrero remains the 12-round co-feature.

"I'm praying for Danny to get better, as well as for Zab and Guerrero to stay focused," a disappointed yet understanding Quillin said from Los Angeles where he was training at Wild Card Gym. "I'm praying for Guerrero to stay focused, too, because I'm coming for him on April 27."

The popular Cuban-American fighter will soon be returning to Manhattan. He knows what's happened is out of anybody's control. "This is what I do and things like this happen sometimes in boxing," he remarked. "You never expect it to but it does happen. I'm just rollin' with the punches. I'm setting up my schedule for the next 1 ½ months before I go back to camp. I'll be teaching four classes a week at the Trinity Boxing Club (in Manhattan) for regular people (non-boxers). They want to train with the champ; I want to keep my mind focused and stay sharp by being in the gym."

Injuries - like it or not - are part of boxing. "It's very disappointing," Quillin's co-manager John Seip commented, "considering the hard work and dedication that goes into preparing for a championship fight like this, not only for my fighter, but for all parties involved. Peter was ready and he had only one week left in camp. Peter lost 18 months due to unforeseen injuries, so he accepts and understands that injuries are part of the game. Danny was a true professional who tried to get through his injury, but Garcia's team made the right decision. Injuries play a big part in professional athletics and some, like this, are unavoidable. A professional athlete needs to take news like this on the chin, no pun intended, remain focused and move on. It's the nature of the beast and must be accepted. Peter will be ready April 27th, no doubt."

Quillin will be the guest of honor as the 2012 Fighter of the Year at another rescheduled event, the 26th annual Ring 8 Awards Dinner, on February 10 at Russo's On The Bay in Howard Beach, New York.

Why do they get their chems from companies that keep lists and sell to other athletes? One company gets busted and all the names come flooding out. I don't understand. Go to any local gym get a local source. They go to these high profile doctor offices and end up getting busted, all the time.

Get your own supplier, know how to monitor and administer your own chems, and you will be fine...

I wish more fighters would go to the body more. Those type of shots can really break a fighter down. Of course they arent as glamorous as head shots but potentially more potent. Got Em!!

Abner Mares Dumps Wbc 122lb Belt, Moving Up To 126

By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com has been advised that WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares (25-0-1, 13KOs) is vacating his title and moving up in weight to the featherweight division. Mares' decision comes on the eve of the WBC's order to face mandatory challenger Victor "Viking" Terrazas (36-2-1, 21KOs). A purse bid was scheduled for this coming Friday.

"I accomplished my dreams of winning titles at 118 and 122 pounds," said Mares in a statement to BoxingScene.com. "I'm ready to fight as a featherweight and to achieve one of my goals of being a world champion in three different divisions."

Mares had previously discussed the possibility of moving up in weight, but he was sticking around at 122-pounds in order to secure a unification with WBO champion Nonito Donaire. Golden Boy Promotions, who promote Mares, offered promotional rival Top Rank a sum of $3 million dollars for the services of Donaire. Golden Boy's contract terms were rejected and no counter-offer was given. Additionally, a deal is close to finalized for Donaire to face WBA champion Guillermo Rigondeaux on an HBO televised date of April 13th.

"We did all we could to make the fight against Donaire happen," added his manager Frank Espinoza. "It's time to move forward with Abner's career. He always said he wanted to be a champion in three divisions and we're going to do everything we can to make that a reality. At this point we have to keep Abner's career moving forward and upwards. That's what's important."

ZAB JUDAH TO DANNY GARCIA: WHERE IS YOUR X-RAY?
By G. Leon

GL: What are your thoughts about Danny Garcia's injury forcing him to postpone your bout? "He's a coward dude. It's a strategy move their making thinking they're going to catch me off guard, but that's not going to happen."

GL: How does this postponement effect how you'll train?

Zab Judah: "I was peaking at the right time for sure, but people that know me know that I train year round. Lately, as of a couple of years ago I changed my life up and this is what I do. I have the ability and the desire to win and I will keep working. I will tone it down a little bit, but I'm going to keep doing me. I'm not giving them too much."

GL: The last time we spoke you accused the Garcia family of snitching on you..

ZJ: (Cutting in) "I didn't accuse them of nothing, that's what they did."

GL: Well I have to pick my words carefully when I ask the questions.

ZJ: "Listen, they snitched on me. I don't know why. I'm a fighter and I wasn't coming to hurt nobody. First he called the cops, then he pulls out of the fight, he blocks me on twitter. It's like come on already with these little girl moves."

GL: He allegedly suffered this injury while sparring with DeMarcus Corley. Are you and Corley on speaking terms? Have you tried to reach out to him?
ZJ: "I'm not reaching out to anybody for extra information. If he didn't get hurt in training camp, he would have gotten hurt in the fight. One thing I want the people to know, no matter what he's trying to say to the fans, the fight is February 9 and I am 100% ready. They can say Zab's a girl and Zab this and Zab that, but I was ready to fight, where were you? What happened to you? Last time I got hurt was before the Shane Mosley fight, I had 57 stitches to show for it, what you got? That little picture you got isn't it. Where are the hospital x-rays? Anybody can stand there and have their rib pop out, I had three people in my training camp who can stand and do the same thing. We don't care to get into he say, she say. If the little girl is hurt and needs more time, that's fine, the outcome ain't going to be no different."

GL: Do you expect him to pull out again?

ZJ: "I hope not. I feel bad for the fans. I feel bad for the fans who traveled from out of state and paid their airfares and hotels to have the fight postponed. But I don't feel bad for Garcia."

GL: Did you try to save the show and fight somebody else on February 9?

ZJ: "Yes. I spoke to everyone and told them I could fight somebody else. They just got Lucas Matthysse a last minute opponent, but they couldn't find somebody for me. You have to remember I'm not a Golden Boy fighter. They expected to see an old man on TV last weekend. I don't know if you saw my interview on Showtime last week, but I broke it down for them. All of these so called guys in boxing that they consider still great are all older than I am, so how am I old? Bernard Hopkins is almost 50 and he's fighting somebody 32, so how am I old. "

GL: Closing thoughts?

ZJ: "Whenever the fight happens, if it's April 27 I will be ready. I vow to punish and I will keep my word on that. He's got a big mouth and I'm going to shut it on April 27. Every dog has his day and his is coming soon."

I gotta side with Zab on this one

Fury-Cunningham Nearly Finalized For 4/20 at MSG, NBC

A source informed BoxingScene.com on Wednesday that a
deal is nearly finalized for an April 20 heavyweight

between Tyson Fury and Steve Cunningham.

The Fury-Cunningham fight will take place in The
Theater at Madison Square Garden and will be televised
live by NBC during the afternoon.

Facing Cunningham in New York would mark Fury’s debut
in the United States, but his transatlantic trip will be well
worthwhile because of the national television

he’ll receive. Other than a fight in Quebec City two years
ago, the 6-foot-9 Fury (20-0, 14 KOs) has fought only in
his native England, Ireland and Northern Ireland since he
turned pro in December 2008.
