Katsidis-Guzman bout on May 26 postponed

Junior lightweight titlist Joan Guzman of the Dominican Republic suffered a hand injury in training, forcing the postponement of his May 26 fight against Michael Katsidis on Thursday.

Guzman was moving from 130 pounds to 135 to challenge Katsidis, an Australian who was to make his American debut, for an interim lightweight title at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Guzman (27-0, 17 KOs), who was training with Floyd Mayweather Sr. for the first time in preparation for the bout, injured the hand a few days ago and, after a visit to a doctor, was advised to postpone the fight.

HBO, which was to have televised the bout on "Boxing After Dark," will go dark that night. HBO and promoter Golden Boy hope to reschedule the show later this summer.

The co-feature pitting former junior featherweight champion Oscar Larios (59-5-1, 37 KOs) of Mexico against 21-year-old rising contender Jorge Linares (23-0, 14 KOs), a Venezuela native based in Japan, for an interim featherweight title will also be rescheduled.

^^^this article is funny, peep:

Edison Miranda: "Pavlik is a Very Unlucky Guy"
Recommend this page Printable version

With just over one week to go before his big showdown against Kelly Pavlik in Memphis Tennessee on HBO, Edison Miranda, the 'People's Champion', took some time to talk about his thoughts for his upcoming fight.

"Kelly Pavlik is a very unlucky guy. I had a goal after I saw the horrible performance that Jermain Taylor gave when he undeservingly took the belt from Bernard Hopkins. My goal was to get in the ring with Taylor and show him how a true champion fights. I spent a lot of money flying to Las Vegas, getting a room and going to this fight. It was a waist of my money and I want a refund," Miranda said.

"I will pick Jermain up and shake the change out of his pockets if I need to. Now Pavlik is the last man standing in front of me before I have this shot. Nothing is going to stop me. When I step into the ring I will turn into a monster and destroy him. I have never been so motivated or trained so hard for a fight. I will not stop my attack until Kelly Pavlik is laying on the ground for good. If he is stupid enough to get up, he will get hurt badly."

This will be Pantera's 3rd consecutive fight on HBO and his 4th fight against top ranked opponents in less than 8 months. Some fighters say they will fight anyone anywhere, but not many stand behind it. After a highly controversial decision in Germany against Arthur Abraham last September, Miranda has been out to prove he is the best in the division. Should he get past Kelly Pavlik, Miranda's last 5 opponents will have had a combined record of 134-4 with 111 KO's. That equates to a 97% win rate with a 83% KO ratio!

"I have fought top competition at the 160 and 168 level and destroyed everyone. I train hard and get better with each fight. Kelly is going to see an Edison Miranda like no other. Like Green, Gibbs and Abraham, I do not think he will make it to the post fight press conference. I will embarrass him in front of the world!" The fight is titled "The Right To Fight" with the winner getting the next shot to ! face Jermain Taylor in the ring. "After I knock out Pavlik it will be my turn to face Taylor. He just better hope I take my gloves off and leave the ring before he steps in or I may be the first boxer in history to get two KO's in the same night."

This very anticipated fight will air live on HBO on May 19th on the undercard of the Jermain Taylor vs Cory Spinks middleweight title fight.

Pantera is a foolio ! You know he can talk it, but at the same time he can bring the pain too...I honestly think he's got a good chance at beating Taylor. Hahah...I like how he's already looking past Pavlick. That shit must bug the fuck outta Pavlick...

Should be a good fight. I remember seeing Pantera's first fight here in The US on Friday Night Fights the day after my B-Day in 2005...now he's fighting on my B-Day ! Can't wait !

um, i dunno about that. He has a great punchers chance but Taylor has Manny in his corner and he understands how to BOX. I think it will be a good fight. I think we should see Miranda vs Calzaghe and the winner gets Taylor!

If anyone fights Calzaghe, they'd have to take the trip to the UK because everyone knows Joe won't leave his homeland for shit! Hatton made the jump across the pond and fought both Collazo and Urango in the US, and his upcoming match with Castillo will be at the Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas. It's obvious he cares about creating a legacy because he could easily make his money selling out the M.E.N Arena in Manchester fighting mediocre competition. I'm just hoping Calzaghe will follow suit and make the jump, it could only help his career and legacy if that's what he really wants. With that said, I'd like to see Calzaghe and Kessler unify their titles at 168 with the winner facing the winner of the upcoming Hopkins - Winky fight which is at 170.

^^He might be out here now, but I won't give him credit until he actually fights out here. Another thing that's pissing me off is that he's trying to call out the 160lb champ rather than trying to unify with the 168lb champ. I'd like to see him and Kessler fight in the US on neutral ground, it makes sense to me.

^^Yeah, that was one of the most brutal fights in boxing history right there.
A great fucking fight.

I have it on DVD but the quality isn't that great, been looking for a better version.

Maybe it's the percs in me, but us boxing fans should get a thread going and we can post our collections and share fights. That way we can let eachother know what fights are really entertaining and worth downloading. I'm sure I've missed hella good fights on torrent sites cause I don't know who the fighter is or whatever

The majority of the fights I have are all on VHS (haha) and put away in my storage. I haven't really looked into transfering VHS onto a computer so I could burn to dvd, but I'm going to have to someday since there's alot of old fights I've been wanting to watch. You ought to make a thread and get 714KaliHydro to post, because from what I recall he's got a pretty big collection of fights.

I just found another site with a thread filled with download links. I checked a few of the ones I wanted and most of them are still alive. There's quite a few old school fights I've been wanting to get onto DVD on there too.

HERE
