The Charlotte Bobcats are in the process of changing their name back to "Hornets," a source with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com's Will Brinson, including arranging digital assets that would allow a return to their original nickname.
There is no timetable for the switch though NBA commissioner to be*Adam Silver told Bobcats season ticket holders in April that such a change would take at least 18 months to implement.
Moreover, the change is not unexpected and would likely be popular with the North Carolina fan base.Bobcats chairman and owner Michael Jordan confirmed in February that*the team hired "a national polling group" (previously reported as Harris Interactive) to determine how fans felt about a change back to Hornets. Jordan called the reaction to the poll "very mixed."
Numerous*grassroots groups have pushed for a return to Hornets.Charlotte's NBA team was known as the Hornets from its 1988 inception through 2002 when then owner George Shinn moved the team -- and mascot -- to New Orleans. When the New Orleans franchise changed its nickname to Pelicans this past season,*it opened the door for "Hornets" to return to Charlotte.Silver told season ticket holders re-acquiring the name "Hornets" would not be an issue, stating that the NBA and not the Pelicans owned the moniker. Acquiring and rearranging the necessary digital assets would be a major part of any change. Hornets.com and CharlotteHornets.com are owned by NBA Media Ventures, LLC and currently redirect to NBA.com/Pelicans.However, a WhoIs.net search for the domain name NBAHornets.com shows that the URL was created and registered very recently -- on May 15, 2013 to be exact......

The NBA should just get rid of a few teams instead of moving them. There's too many teams for the amount of good players. I read somewhere that 20 of the last 30 championships were won by like 5 or 6 teams. I can't remember the exact numbers. Less teams would equal more good teams and bigger fan bases. The talent and the fan base are spread out too much and there's too many perrenial terrible teams. IMO

Some teams just don't have a fuckin' clue. lol

They should lower the salary cap and put more emphasis on player development in the D League. Stop paying those guys chump change down there. Make it worth their while to stay here and actually develop for the good of the league. Stop letting all these quality college players get stolen by leagues overseas because they'll actually pay em. Who in their right mind would chose the wood pennies of the D League over a couple million of tax free money to see the world and play over seas?

I actually believe there is alot of good players out there, its just that there isn't enough rotation spots to go around for all of em.

It's really hard to get good in the NBA if you stink. Everything is stacked against you. For instance if you wanna rebuild by trading someone for draft picks, the only teams that will give up their draft picks are the contenders and a late first round pick is practically worthless. NBA draft is weird even top 5 picks are kinda hard to hit on. There's just not enough star players. Even if you have the worat record you can get hosed in the lottery. It's hard, you gotta get lucky like OKC and hit in the draft like 3 straight years and that's tough. It's always the same teams with top picks and they still never get good. Everything's set up for good teams to stay good and bad teams to stay bad. Good teams acquiring a superstar from a bad team that can't resign the dude and all the good teams give up is some shitty journeymen with expiring contracts. What a joke.
