the speeds jump, it may go slow then shoot up to like 50kbps...im not sure what the highest speed was for me, i know it was quick tho...all depends on who you are dl'n from an how many people...

you have an upload speed because while you dl somthing, someone may also be dl'n the same thing as you. so that person gets bits of the file...with bittorent u really dont get a file from just one person you get them in different peices from alott of people...thats why u see an upload, your just sendin little peices of what u have to the person who is downloadin the same shit as you..

also check out http://www.shareaza.com/ its compatable wit the torent so if u dl shareaza you can see the people you are downloading from, how many people your dl'n from and there info....

this is a nice program tho!

Good lookin out pimp, thanks for the info. Do you limit your upload? my shit varies from 8-10kbps and I got dsl, the fastest upload for dsl is only 15kbps for me, so it's already takin up half my shit. I'm a download shareaza rit now thanks!

One more thang, do you leave your computer on all day and night? or do you turn it off and resume your download whenever you come back online?

i dont know how to limit the upload, so i just let it do its own thing...im dl'n templates right now and there is no upload speed..so alott times you wont get an upload speed..im dl'n at 44kib..i have dsl too, you may just be downloading off someone with a slow ass connection...

i leave my comp on from when i wake up too when i go to bed...when i go to sleep i turn my comp off...i dont think leavin your comp on 24/7 will do anything..i know alott of people who dl big ass files like movies..so they leave there comp running all night..

i dont resume my dl's...i wait until there finished then i turn it off...if i ever did dl a huge file i would just leave my shit on all night..

Damn dogg that shareaza shit fucked up my comp. Shit froze my computer after installation and my bit torrent was downloading at 20kbps too. After it fucked up my comp I could still see the bittorent's progress and shit was going downhill all the way to zero. So I ended shareaza's task now my comp is back to normal and bittorent is at 20kbps. I don't think I'm a use shareaza again, unless you can tell me how to use it while I'm using ABC torrent and if I can incorporate ABC into shareaza. Also what torrent do u use? And what's the avg rate of your upload speed?

Mean, you may want to limit your uploads to about less than half of its max speed, so you can dl at full speed. I have gotten max speeds of around 400KB/s. I limit my uploads while I am downloading to only 10KB/s and let it max out when I am finished dl'ing my file, which is only around 32KB/s. If you are behind a router, you may want to open some ports.

To limit your uploads on ABC go to Action, Global Upload Setting. Since your max uploading speed is around 15 I would set your "Maximum overall upload rate when downloading" to 5; and put the box underneath it to 0, which means max uploading(15KB/s for you).

I'm tellin ya'll right now...that bit torrent shit is nothing but problems. I'd been downloading and and everything for years and years and years...but with bit torrent while you're downloading you're also uploading to numerous people at once so your ISP is interested in this...less then a week after having downloading sutt from bit torrent I got a letter in the mail from my isp telling me exactly what I've downloaded, what time, how big it was, etc, etc, etc. They said if I didn't get rid of it or if I kept downloading illegally they would take action....this was about a year ago...I'm downloading more then ever now, just without bit torrent and no problems....heard the same shit from a ton of others that started using that program as well....

@187 dayum. I'm just tryna get this one dvd and I'm done good lookin out homie. BTW what was your ISP? SBC DSL?. Good lookin hobgoblin, you always come thru homie, much appreciated. BTW WTF connection do you have? and how much do you pay per month for it? Currently I got about 300K ADSL from sbc yahoo and my bro in-law said I can call them up and upgrade to a faster dsl for free. He said he has sbc yahoo and people that order it don't know what to get so they get the adsl by default. Anyone know about this free upgrade?

@187, this is why programs like Protowall and PeerGuardian were created. They prevent bad IP's from connecting to your computer. Whenever I choose to download a movie, TV show, game, music, that the MPAA and RIAA have control over, I open up Peer Guardian. I have yet to get a letter of any sort or any kind of notification that I have been doing (illegal) things. I also use a proxy address when i surf the net sometimes. I have been using Bit Torrent since 2002.

@Mean, I have Comcast. I pay only 45 a month. It seems like alot, but I have had cable since 98 back when it was AT&T @home. I was talking to the guy at the local office here in Livermore and he said that our connections should be upgrading again, from 3mbit connections to 5mbit. 5000/8= 625KB/s.

Edited: I just checked out my bittorent version which is ABC and it automatically kick/ban clients that send bad data.
