EAST PEORIA -- A former NFL player and Fox Sports Commentator was arrested in East Peoria Saturday night.

Illinois State Police say 45-year-old William Maas was pulled over at a roadside check point on Route 116 and Highview Drive.

Police say Maas seemed nervous so they asked to check his car.

He gave them permission to do the check and that's when police found a loaded 22-caliber revolver hand gun, 5 grams of cannabis, 6 grams of cocaine and 28 ecstasy pills.

Maas was arrested on felony drug and felony weapons charges.

Police say this was a very unusual arrest.

"We do get arrests for DUI, we do get drugs, controlled substance from that- its just the magnitude of who the person was, a lot of these arrests are normal at a roadside safety check that's why were out here to do it to get the stuff of the roads the impaired drivers, the drugs, the alcohol and stuff like that but its just the magnitude of who the person was," said Illinois State Police Trooper Tony Halsey.

Maas' passenger- 27-year-old Sarah Murphy of Missouri was also arrested.

State police confiscated Maas' 2005 Hummer.

Both Maas and Murphy will be in bonding court Sunday morning.

Maas played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1984 til 1992, and he played for the Green Bay Packers in 1993.

Good job dick.
