Get an LCD if you have a lot of natural light flooding the room, because the finish on the screen absorbs the light and prevents any kind of reflection, as the plasma shines like a motherfucker with its mirror finish.

If lighting isnt a problem in your room, go plasma, it looks like it has more vivid color because it accentuates the blacks and whites more accurately.

what size flat pannel are you looking for? from what i've read the reason you get plasma is because you can get a much larger TV. That is quickly changing with LCD available at the 42” mark now. Plasma are still around at 50+ range where LCD is not though.

plasma large screen = pioneer

if you're buying electronics a lot of brands manufacture the same (or nearly the same) product and then at the end of the line put different names on them.

LCD for example Phillips and LG have a joint venture to produce LCD's. So in the grand scheme of it all if you buy a phillips and your friend gets an LG, you both got the same shit.

Plasma superior brightness, wider color range, and wider viewing angles, when compared to LCD TVs, especially good for HDTV. Improvements in LCD have closed the gap. LCD is lower weight, price, and power consumption. Plasma is very fragile. Plasma TVs can be viewed from a wider angle than LCD TVs. Generally, 160 degrees for plasma and about 130 degrees for LCD TVs. Beyond 90 degrees the LCD picture degrades, particularly in holding the blackness of black. As a whole they, don't last longer or less long than LCD TVs. LCD TVs are somewhat less likely to have screen "burn-in" than are plasma. LCD TVs are superior to plasma TVs for use as a computer monitor, even a very large computer monitor. Plasma TVs are technically not as well able to handle computer inputs, so their text typically appears jagged on a computer. But for moving images, such as for computer games, plasma TVs produce a better image, in part because LCD TVs can leave a trailing effect during fast moving action on the screen.

The life on plasmas are about 10,000 hours...LCD is 15,000.

I have never witnessed traling or bluring on my LCD, and the picture rivals that of any Plasma I have seen. Most LCD's now have close to the deep black that you see on Plasmas, especially the upper level ones. Samsung has the best LCD's on the market for pedastrians...but Hitachi makes the dopest overall...but they cost between $7,000 and $15,000...depending on size.

Samsung LCD's now have a 25,000:1 contrast rate...the highest of any LCD availabe in stores to consumers.

lcd and plasma are flat panel televisions (around 4 inches thick), DLP's are not. thats why they are much cheaper. I own a LCD and am pretty satisfied with it. play my xbox 360 on it and the colors are great. its a 32 inch sharp aqous 720p tv 6ms (so no motion blurring). 1080p is the best tv's can get right now and if i was to buy a tv today id make sure it is 1080p becuase everything from now on is going to up to 1080p (like its going to be the standard in a couple of years).

plasmas are generally better if you want a bigger tv like a 50+ inch tv then go with plasma.

and only fuck with name brand tv's cus i bought a cheap ass lcd tv one time and the quality of it was horrible and so was the sound.

bottom line get a lcd 1080p tv and enjoy it, stay away from a DLP unless you like having a tv that takes up most of your room (not to mention it weighs a lot more then plasma and lcds and it cant hang on your wall if you ever wanted it to)

also wait til around thanksgiving or after and you will see the prices drop a lot compared to what they are now.

1080p is the resolution, its basically how many lines of information are displayed on the tv. the difference between 720p and 1080p is minor until you get a tv over 42 inches.
