ummm ok! sure DEM Hoodstarz if you pull BDS is on 9 stations right now with thier single Code of the Streets, and Selau had THE biggest INDY record on the west coast last year 'A MAN THAT GOES" it spun 90 times a week on wyld at one point and 3 other stations that many times, her new single just got released friday so you'll hear that.. and now you do e a favor.. Tell me what other label in the bay has FOUR ARTISTS Currently on the air/TV and doing consistent shows at the same time? alot of labels have 1 maybe even 2 but thats it thats what wrong with the bay its not LABELS its alot of artists you dont have a LABEL if you dont have a staff!, If you dont got some one in charge of Promotions, someone else in charge of Marketing, someone else in charge tour support, a publicist, a radio promoter. YOU ARE NOT A LABEL!!!! And right now the game has changed it aint about just putting out albums songs sell more than albums and they make more money.. there is some free game
^^Oh shit yea i forgot about Dem Hoodstarz...I guess to really "debate" this topic we have to define what the critiera for the Best Label in the Bay is....If it's just having the most people on TV/Radio then cool, but if it's having the best rappers who are releasing the best material....If we're talking about the latter I'd go with the Liverwire camp, if we talking about airtime I'd go with DD.
yeah exactly it means if you go off 'Best music" you cant everybody has different likes and taste that cant make the best, radio tv doesnt really mean the best but what it does do is measure success, there ISNT ANY ARTIST OR LABELS that dont want to e successful and without radio or tv you are not recieving publishing royalties, and residuals, and if you arent doing that you can be selling a couple thousands units.. there are hip hop groups ut the bay that might sell 5k units in the whole US, but tour all year in the states and in europe and make a great living! or you have an Artists like Andre Nickatina that doesnt care or need the radio but when his album released he sells 10k+ self distributed and tour all year for 5-to 7k a show! soo if your favorite label has artists thats getting checks, doing these shows or feeding thier families off of their mouth piece then that should be your critieria
Thizz has soundscanned over 300 thousand units independently the last 3 years. NOT including Mac Dre titles. And continue to break new artist. And has one of the few Bay artist with a major deal. We have and continue to set the standard for bay labels. And most importantly we have highest profit rate per project.
stretch come on my nigga im not gunna publicly put no business out there but 300k units in the last 3 years thats a bit fetched and please dont add hanny and psd album as Thizz release lol and if you go by sells then thats not fair cuz 40 last album sold more than all the bay labels combined in the last 3 years.. major or not.. And just like me ad you talked about before there aint no deal until it comes out you know we both know the business and the real especially on them deals.. And the real on which labels is eating and makeing money and set the standard????? you know my resume on that 1st bay label to put out a mixtape real one with a dj! , 1st wrapped vehicles way back in 197 with fully loaded, 1st label throwing concerts, 1st label to do a all bay tour, shall i continue???!st label to shoot a 35mm Video with NO label paying for it own doe! , first Indy from the bay to Get JAM OF THE WEEK, i got more.. 1st label to put MAC DRE back on the radio!!!!!! its not an arguement stretch is my nigga and alot of truth to what he is saying but a friendly horn tooting contest i got credentials that im just stating and stretch know they are all real, Thizz is definetly a factor in this shit, i thought he got offended at what i said and said check the sound scan nigga so made me defensive but he cleared that up.. like someone said earlier whats the criteria really its ur own individual opinion there is alot of noise being made by i few labels, like noone mentioned nickatina label, MAKE MORE MONEY THAN ANY OF THE INDIES, noone mentioned mescalen prolly makes the most at smc consistenly doing #'s mess is eating, heiros, iys alot of people handleing their business, Short label about to make noise.. And sick wid it scans units too with just 40 and turf talk not to mention the older catalog shit they are the biggest label of bay History!
Chuck sunce 2005 we have put out over 70 records! 70! NOBODY else can say that and I have the soundscan to prove the sales. Ask Ghazi he pulled em for me. And I didn't but shouldve counted Hanny's record cuz the same way Dem Hoodstarz record is Street Cred that record is Thizz. And nobody could ever try to take anything from 40 but I said independently. And as far as the deal FAB has a label deal with Atlantic records not a artist deal a label deal. And he did release a single and video for it so the deal should not be in question cuz the check cleared a while ago and if proof is needed ask Craig
