...MJ was great, but he was also the NBA\'s biggest marketing tool, which caused him 2 be extremely overrated by the general public. step it up.
Fuck that! There's obviously no way to say who for sure is the greatest player of all time, but Jordan was good enough to where the word "overrated" should never be used in the same sentence as his name.

6 championships, 6 time NBA Final MVP, 5 league MVPs, 10 time scoring champion, 3 time steal leader, 14 trips to all star game, 3 time all star MVP, 1 Defensive player of the year, Rookie of the year, 2 time slam dunk champion. Anybody that says he is overrated is a fuckin moron. Don't come back with some he didn't have any real competition bull shit either.

well, when most people claim him to be the undisputed GOAT, and hands down greatest player to ever play, it is hard to say he\'s not overrated. many people dont realize that there were players before jordan that were on his level, as well as players with his talent that came after. he was an amazing player, one of the greatests, no doubt, but he is not what Nike and the David Stern tried making him out to be (a once in a lifetime Godly talent)...............u may not feel me, but its the truth.

In the 90's ALOT of the "Awards" had already turned into a big popularity contest. I have discussions with 90's babies all the time who live and die, and SWEAR that Mike Jordan is GOD...why do they think that? Most were not even born or too young to have sat there and watched the epic Utah and Chicago battles...They think that he is GOD the way he is marketed to them and to the world. GO study when he got drafted to arouynd 1990...Where was the greatness? EVERYONE has to start somewhere...

Kobe got cheated on a lot of "popularity" awards because the NBA didn't want the face of the NBA to be a guy with rape charges. Those years really hurt kobes rep. That was also the time Kobe was in his prime. Also Kobe reminds me of Barry bonds where hes never been a media favorite. Where as Jordan had everyone in the media swinging from his nuts.

I witnessed the Michael Jordan era firsthand, and it was fucking amazing. Too bad I can't say the same thing for the Kobe era, nothing but yawns for that one.

Kobe is a great player, but he will never be viewed in history as "great" as Michael Jordan... period.

Personally I think Jobe had more help around him then Jordan, Esp when Shaq was balling with the Lakers.

Jordan embodied more then just a great player, he is far more iconic then jobe bisont
