I remember this cat that had big names sayin' good shit about him because he paid them well, but in reality he had no game, no spits, and no real talent.
The fact of the matter is, anybody can go pay for features and put an album together. SHIT, that was the story of the Bay Area for the end of the 90's and beginning of the new century. What did it do? It hurt us, because not one rapper coming out could hold his own. If he could, it didn't matter because he got outshined by his features anyway. Point is, this young cat is captivating an audience with nothing more than a video camera and his own spits. He has no flashy covers or big name features, and he's doin' just fine on his own.
I'm not sayin' this as a dickrider. I've been in this game for a minute now and I've seen a lot of dudes come and go. The cats that promoted themselves based on who they've worked with are not really around these days.
