Everyone is saying how the Bay needs to move on, try some new shit and stop trying to re-create a sound from 10 years ago, right?

I can pretty confidently say that I haven't heard many albums recently that sounded anything like the stuff from our golden age in at least 5 years. I could probably count 'em on one hand. Sure the lyrics might still be about the same shit, but that's the same everywhere. Musicwise, the Bay is completely different than it was back then. Show me anything from recent years that sounds even remotely like "In A Major Way" or "Fiendin' 4 Tha Funk", etc... People have been trying to come different and it isn't working.

Everyone is saying we need to come anew and stop trying the same sound, but I'm not hearing the same sound.

Very true!
I understand that radio stations have to spin what they are paid to spin by these major record labels.
All this East Coast shit that they play and stuff, I understand that this is how they make their money.

But what about in between? They can easily play some local shit, but what do they do?
They play that techno bullshit!
And that's what pisses me off!
Who in the fuck listens to techno?
Club hoppin hoochies! Along with these faggot ass DJ's....

It's fucked up how they play only what they like and give a fuck about the public....
That's why I say we need to get these biased ass holes out of our local stations.
These muthafuckas ain't showin us no love....

Fuckin faggs, do you guys know that only the Bay plays this techno bullshit on the radio?
Fruits!

I don't care to beat the "music sounds the same" horse into a pulp again.

But, like it or not, the music industry DOES revolve around New York City. It's just a fact to come to terms with and stop denying. I'm not saying NYC music is the best, I'm saying all the powermoves revolve around what's there. The labels are there, the radio is there, etc.

Nahh miggidy truthfully techno has a huge following, especially in the bay area. Aint saying im down with them playing that over our rap, but it definitely is just as huge in the underground scene as the bay artists we want to hear. They gotta appeal to as many people as they can if they want to be successful.

Some of our DJ's are but not all of them. And you dont have to necessarily be a club hopper to like techno - there are at least 20 million in this country itself who listen to it on the daily. And worldwide its one of the most popular music genres, especially in germany and a lot of europe. Definitely more popular than our underground rap, and I guess the DJ's are paid to play what will give them higher ratings/listeners/fans/etc. I know they have some say in what they do, but not in the overall gameplan of the local radio stations.

lets juss say this.... fuck bittin off everyone cuz everyone dose it.... second, the bay will never blow up and hear are the reasons
1. no artist will sign to a marjor cuz they'll make less than what there makin or they dont want to sell out
2. its hard to be independent and be on the radio/mtv,bet
3. dirty south controlls the club bagers
4. east coast controlls the radio
5. the bay keeps it real and as mac dre said it "too hard for tha fuckin radio"!!
point being, bay will never get love anywhere else but in the bay... we might have some cats over on the east coast likeing our shit but they'll never bump it.... cuz theres too much bay pride in our music, always talkin about.. bay luv, and frisco and oakland..ect, no one on the east wants to bump that shit, so only tru bay area fans luv bay music, im not clowin cuz thats the type of music i love but face the fact that no one wants to bump the bay... only one song the bay put out that east coast bumps...."5 on it", dirty south might seem annoying at sum points but thats what they play at every club, weather its ludacris, lil jon, nelly, ect... majority or music in clubs is from the drity south.....bay music was/and still is music to smoke to, to chill, and to bump in your ride!, thats all im gonna say.. late

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean.

@Psilo,
Again who outside of club hoppers is into Techno?
Now remember, club hoppin is very popular, so I know that there is a big fanbase for techno.
But the Yay ain't no different then L.A., they have as many clubbin muthafuckas as we do. Yet they don't plague the radio waves with that Techno shit as these local stations do.
Fuckin discos....
Man they're every where.

"Ugh! Discos, every where! Discos!"

@Psilo,
Again who outside of club hoppers is into Techno?
I cant really come up with a reasonable answer for this because it doesnt make sense in reality. Like... I know a lot of people who like techno but arent club hoppers at all. What do i call them? "Normal people" I guess?
The hundreds of thousands of trance and house heads arent even usually clubbers i'd say. Maybe 20% or so. Its just another form of music that can be listened to by any type of person if they are into it.
I listen to gangster rap, so many people who aren't knowing me might be thinking im a gangster, or a thug, whatever. But that's not true at all, that's pure generalization and its basically the same thing that we are saying towards the electronic people.

Im not sticking up for anything really, im just stating the reasons (the way i see it) on why our stations do play a lot of electronic at night. It just makes sense to me, even if i dont agree.

.Who is to say the nation doesnt want to hear my fav. underground rapper? When I go down to Socal and bump some Yukmouth they go crazy for it. Dont make assumptions.

2. 1994 was ten years ago...who's still on that tip...the bay reinvented itself about 2 years ago....

3. And Ive visited plenty of other regions, and to be honest, we got a lot to be proud of....
First off let me say that #3 is the only intellegent logical thing ive heard in that post. anywayz.....

Now If we "re-invented ourselves" and nobody is on the 1994 tip, then why is your favorite rapper and your example, a rapper that made his/they debut and name during that or right after that period?I dont agree with you maddogg because i really dont see how anybody can consider Yukmouth "Underground." I guess it depends on your definition of "Underground". Does it mean absent from BET or MTV rotation? is that what your "underground" means? I mean, In the south Yukmouth is bigger than E-40 (with all the people i knew or met from Texas, Alabama, and while living in Georgia for a short period of time. Down south cats love Yuk). Are you gonna try to say E-40 is underground too? You act like your putting cats from L.A. up on Yuk like hes a best kept secret and your lacin them. Im not sure but he probably spends more Time in LA than he does the bay anyway (like alot of factors from the bay to sac) so your one up on anywhere. Im from the bay, and i love the bay. I love how bay cats have so much pride in being from the bay or for their bay artists. But some of these cats take it too far and thats what i think the cat that started this thread meant. some bay cats feel like they own these rappers. Like, "i let them hear some E-40" lol. damn, dogg. Just cuz you grew up within a 100 mile radius of where an artist grew up (and not even in the same city) does not mean your the bionic man. It doesnt mean your cooler than anybody else, it doesnt mean your part of a secret society like the movie "the skulls". You think that cuz they are from the Bay they are like a part of a fraternity that no one can be a part of. Get over it, KC has higher soundscans for most artists than any bay city does for its own artists. Seattle metro area usually surpasses the bay in soundscan numbers too. These cats you call "underground" or consider local like they are your discovery are not underground. They just arent mainstream posterchildren. That's just my straightlaced opinion. Honestly, im a real young cat. But when i see shit like this it makes me feel old. Cuz i actually used tolisten to these artists when they were underground (Luniz were NEVER underground for any period of time after releasing "operation Stackola") Thats like saying Kriss kross is/was underground. One major hit then fell off is not underground. Seriously, what do you consider underground? Maybe im trippin. Maybe i'm way off. I would like to know what other people think.

underground to me = not being distrubited by a major label. yuk aint an underground rapper cuz of his history, but to me, his last two releases have been on the underground tip because the label aint there anymore. now this is some real subjective shit anyways but there are some clear cut choices for undergound or non underground. 40 definitely aint underground, lynch and yuk might be, Seff The Gaffla (random name to use) is definitely underground. but alot of the people we listin to our inbetweeners anyway. but that just poses more questions, was jt not undergound cuz he was on priority for a year?
