Just because someone says "get low" in their song, doesn't mean they're biting JT.

The nation doesn't want to hear your favorite underground bay rapper instead of 50 cent or Dre or Ludicris.

1994 was nearly 10 years ago. Leave it in the memory and strive for a new "golden age" for bay/n.cal music...without trying to revive a 10yr old formula.

Visit other regions of the country.

There's not much money in the independent rap game, do it cause you love it and don't depend on it as your ticket.

And the bay bites on everyone else, it's not like every region ONLY uses their own slang...such as whips for cars, that shit didn't originate in the bay..the word dope didn't originate in the bay, and many more words that bay rappers use didn't originate in the bay.

Believe it or not, your ideas and thoughts have been posted several trillion times on this board, but thanks for trying to be original.

Biting is saying Get Low in a song, its calling your rap label Get Low Records when you already know there is a Getlow Records in SF.

Who is to say the nation doesnt want to hear my fav. underground rapper? When I go down to Socal and bump some Yukmouth they go crazy for it. Dont make assumptions.

1994 was ten years ago...who's still on that tip...the bay reinvented itself about 2 years ago....

And Ive visited plenty of other regions, and to be honest, we got a lot to be proud of....

but hes not using get low as the same thing so its not really biting....thats where context and different meaning come into play...just cuz someone across the country uses a phrase doesnt mean its copyrighted and no one else can use it

ANYONE ELSE AGREE THATS THE WORST COMPARISON OF ALL TIME? theres a big difference in copying a business name as compared to saying two 3 letter words in the english language....come on....

Agreed. One other thing I wanted to mention, though:

@LeonKage--couldn't it be argued that the reason why the nation buys Dre, Ludacris or 50 Cent is not because those artists are any better than Underground-type Rap, but because THAT'S ALL THAT MTV AND THE OTHER VIDEO CHANNELS ARE PLAYING? If you don't KNOW something is out there, that poses a problem.

In my expierence, a certain majority of listeners don't know how(or don't have the patience) to THINK FOR THEMSELVES and dig deeper into Rap (or whatever music they like) and they take the easy way out and assume that just because something is played on MTV or the radio means that said artist or song is "dope," even if it isn't all that...A majority of the audience will accept whatever is given to them on the video channels or radio, regardless of quality.

But like MaddDogg said, this topic's been discussed before, so I don't want to beat a dead horse. PEACE!

nah, the problem ispeople aint on that tip anymore, and wether some of u want to admit to it or not, the bay needs to go back to that mentality. plain in simple that mentality brought us rawer beats, less copy catting, way less features, radio play, record deals, flat out better music.

So it ain't biting when Jay Z takes a beat Dru Down used (even though it wasn't original) which put Dru Down's name on the Bay map but then uses the same beat to help him get on the Nationwide map?

It ain't biting when Jay Z jacks a phrase used by 3X Crazy makes millions off of it utilizing his mainstream status and then says he borrowed it from Snoop?

Over and over again, these East Coast "Hiphop Superstars" jack/take from the Yay, put their name on it and sell it to the world as their product....
You cannot dispute the facts.

I understand that Hiphop's roots stem from freestyling over wax.
But the Bay ain't hiphop, the Bay is RAP!

If they're gonna borrow from the Yay, then they should at least show us some love....
But no, they give the Yay the cold shoulder.
Hiding the Bay in the basement, hiding the truth from the whole world. Naw, they don't want nobody to know that they get their concepts from the Bay. No never! It's not good business....

"Believe it or not, the world doesn't revolve around the Bay... "

Well shit the world don't revolve around New York either and everything that happens there gets hyped up like nothing other. Straight up BS.
