BEING PATRIOTIC

What do you think being patriotic is? Is it following the country into anything even if you dont agree with it? Just "riding till you die" out of loyalty and because you love it. Or is being patriotic speeking out against the government when you dont agree with some of their policies.

Ive noticed recently that people all over the country are so quick to label someone anti-american when you speak out against the governmet. But doesnt exercising your right to speak out, make you a better American. Leaders need to be questioned, they need to have people put pressure on them and make them at least think harder about what their doing. Without people speeking out America is doomed. (If its not doomed already)

We need countrys like N. Korea to help keep us in check. And they need us to help keep them in check. Good needs evil. If it wasnt for a signifigant threat like N. Korea who knows what Bush would have done by now. And without the US who knows what N. Korea would have done by now. Neither of us (hopefully) are gonna do shit because if we do, were both majorly fucked. There simply cannot be one super power. When your high up, your just setting yourself up for the biggest fall.

Too many Americans got the idea of patriotism twisted. They think staying loyal to the governments decisions no matter what is being patriotic. Thats actually the attitude of a dictatorship. REAL patriots are the people who live by the ideals that America is based on...the freedom to SPEAK OUT out against those who run the country when you think they are wrong. I am not a fan of the U.S. government I think there is major corruption within' it, however I believe in this War on Terror and the proposed war with Iraq. In a time like this it is important 2 weigh the good and the bad, and I think overall this war will be a cleansin' of the middle east, so that the Iraqi people can chose their own leader. If its over oil it wouldn't happen, I'm sicc of all these people sayin' that, as I said be4, that might be part of it, but that ain't the whole enchilada.
