it's crazy to me how people can oppress a culture for so many generations, taking everything from them- their homes, their children, their culture, their lives… almost completely exterminating an entire race…
and then as soon as they finally get basic human rights and some sort of attempt to make amends… after everything that was done to them, you people have the audacity to bitch about them getting "handouts" and not magically being able to get back on their feet right away after everything they went through??? WHAT THE FUCK. fuck you.
and from what i know, they still face so much prejudice today.
yet so many white australians have the nerve to complain about them not all being "productive" members of the SOCIETY THAT OPPRESSED THEM AND STOLE THEIR FUCKING CULTURE EXTREMELY RECENTLY IN HISTORY! ugh.

i didn't say you were directly responsible for what happened in the past, obviously that's not logical.
what i said, is that you were racist and insensitive. just because you weren't directly responsible for the terrible things in history doesn't mean it's cool for you to be hella racist now. what i have a problem with is your whole mentality: blaming them for being "lazy" and getting so many "handouts" and not living wonderful independent lives now that all that crazy genocide stuff & baby stealing is "all in the past". basically saying that they "should get over it because everything is better now". when it's still so recent and they are still extremely discriminated against.

slavery, GENOCIDE, rape and destruction of entire cultures and societies is despicable no matter where it occurred! i am not denying that in any form. i also am not complaining about "handouts" or saying "oh that was so long ago why don't they just get over it and be more productive members of society". i think what happened in the past and the foundation this country was built on is extremely fucked up, and i completely understand why they give native americans benefits and the whole reasoning behind affirmative action. i also understand that no matter what they do, it still can't magically make things right.
