the state can not sponsor suicide. If they did, even once, all sorts of people would come out of the woodworks saying they need to die too. As sad as it is, suffering is part of life. If she truly wants to die then she will kill herself but the government cannot do it for her. I cannot imagine what she is going through and it is very sad but if they kill her then so many other people who are sick or depressed will ask for the same service, it just can't happen.
No they wouldnt, that's bullshit. They have regulations when in place, like in Oregon state where it is legal and in the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland .
In the Netherlands, the basics requirements are as follows:
* The patient must have already been in the doctor's care for a period of time.
* The patient's suffering is unbearable, and she or he has no hope of recovery.
* The patient makes a deliberate and voluntary request that she or he has discussed thoroughly with the doctor.
* The doctor consults a colleague who agrees that these criteria have been met.
In Oregon the criteria is even much more strict than that and it's very difficult for one to even be considered.
