Bad Boys II
Thursday - July 24, 2003
Albert McCluster III
Martin Lawrence and Will Smith reunite with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and
director Michael Bay for another exhilarating and high-intensity action
adventure in Bad Boys II.

In this new installment as Miami narcotics detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and
Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) become part of a high-tech task force assigned to
stem the flood of designer ecstasy into Miami. They unwittingly uncover a
deadly conspiracy involving a ruthless Cuban drug lord, Tapia played by Jordi
Mollà, who is determined to expand his empire and take control of the city’s
burgeoning narcotics trade, killing anyone...to include the Russian Mafia and
Jamaican Drug Pirates who stand in his way.

To make matters worse, Marcus’ sister Syd (Gabrielle Union), an undercover
DEA agent, gets caught in the crossfire. The car chase featuring Union, a
group of Jamaicans and a semi-truck car carrier is beyond words. Also, there
is the slight problem she and Mike may encounter when they tell Marcus that
they are romantically involved....but, I digress.

The problem is that after 8 years of working with Mike, Marcus is no longer
willing to charge headfirst into the MAJOR gun battles that occur throughout
the film. During a gun battle with the Jamaicans, he tells Lowery he should
try and talk with them. Lawrence's character has mellowed with age and has
become and even more devoted husband and father, who wants to be able to come
home and relax in his "thiry-nine, hunnert dollar pool".

While Smith's character(who by the way has an especially potent type of
weed named after him) is even more off the chain. Going from mowing down Klu
Klux Klan members to racing at 100s of miles per hour through busy Miami
streets. Smith brings raw intensity AND humor to his role as Mike Lowery AND
Smith actually curses eloquently throughout the film.

This film was well worth waiting for at over 2 and a half hours of running,
Director Micheal Bay keeps you interested in the plot and the characters.
You want to know what's going to happen to these characters.

The chemistry that exists between Smith and Lawrence is beyond unique...
There's one scene in an electronics store in which Mike and Marcus have a
rather personal discussion that is witnessed by the entire store AND there
is the scene where Will and Martin verbally intimidate a young man who has
arrived to take Marcus' daughter on her first date.

The ending borders on unbelievable to ok this is an action film pumped
with steroids, ecstasy and crack...but it's a helluva a ride. Speaking of
ecstasy...you will have to see the scene where Marcus accidently ingests
some ecstasy, if you aren't laughing....you're dead.

This film is action, action and a WHOLE lot of shooting. After 8 years...
the boys are back...Ride or Die, Bad Boys for life. A MUST SEE
