i know this is a few days old, but i just found this out...i think this is great, getting rid of Rhodes, whos like 36 or something and pretty much garbage, and mark redman. Its good they got a reliable catcher and it allows to bring up some more young guys for the pitching staff (Blanton, Huston Street, free agent signee Seth Etherton). This could be another trademark Billy Beane move. any thoughts?

that was a good move... they needed another strong right handed batter + they got another catcher this past draft i believe who is pretty sick... i forget his name and school though, besides they are not gonna resign dye for 10m+ a year...

Yup, unloaded garbage ass Rhodes and mediocre Redman for an all-star catcher, I know the Pirates were looking to get rid of Kendall but I dunno how Beane pulled that off...

Huston Street and Joe Blanton will probably take their places next season

Kendall is a career .306 hitter, he can hit leadoff and steal bases. He'll hit leadoff next year with Kotsay behind him. It's an improvement over Damian Miller and huge considering the unloading of Arthur Rhodes worthless ass.
