Probally only 15-20% of the music I listen to now is rap because of the sad state its become and because I've progressed as a musician myself.
Im all about funk, soul, jazz, reggae, trip hop, drum n bass, cinematic etc.

Same here....I attribute it moreso to me just gettin older and gettin bored of hearing dudes brag about what they own, how they buy out the bar at the club and about how their dope is the best on the block....

WHat I listen to depends on what day it is... THe other day I was listening to S.O.D. Yesterday, Red Hot CHili Peppers, today is Hieroglyphics/ reggae shit like Peter Tosh, Rancin Scroo, Black Uhuru, etc. Anyone named Marley always slap... Santogold + M.I.A. = the Truth.

Its just sad that rap is stuck in a time warp not evolving like other genres have...

Why does rap 10years ago, sound almost exactly the same as rap now? Minus it having new keyboard synths?


Myself as an artist is drifting more to a indie state of mind with a strong rap influence... Fuck ima do about maken songs about rims and clubs? I just do drugs, stay home and go for walks seeing things that sent really there...

In a way im kinda glad rap sucks right now and the radio is unlistenable,its forced me to broaden my horizons.I been bumpin alot of Tricky lately,his shit gets me in a zone.Aesop Rock,old Metallica.....
