I grew up on Army Street and we used to kick it on 2-4 sometimes with the Samoans from time to time.

partly....but i wouldnt consider myslef any more of a solution than a problem.....i make political statements in my music.....the thing is they're my own politics and views for folks like me and not neccessarilly accepted by everyone.....whiich brings me to the point of what is "good" cuz everyone has a different definition of what is "good" in thier eyes......

ive made some deeper traccs talkin about society's problems....ive tried to put messages in some of my music and tell these kids somethin that might help them out if they actually listen.....ive gone lightweight gospel and spoke on God and the errors of my ways......

but then on the next tracc i'll "gang bang" as the media calls it.....which a lot of folks would see as a negative thing but to me its political and i take pride in stating my affiliation and what ive grown up a part of......

the thing is if you stress what is considered "positive" in rap you dont seem to make the same impact or get as much attention as the "negative" aspects do.......

i never planned on being a rapper.....i started out wanting to get into prduction cuz i loved hearin tight beats.......my 1st wacc ass beats didnt have anyone to bust on em so i jus taught myself to rap.....mainly while incarcerated cuz you have nuttin but time to write and learn.......and this was all after i was already 21 years old.......i aint one them cats that was born wit a mic in my crib and been dreamin of being a rapstar since i was like 10 and wrote my 1st song at 11......i jus studied what i liked to hear and implented my own voice and mentality into it......over time ive gotten a lot better at it and the public response pushed me to take it more serious cuz its somethin i like to do ....my production has improved greatly and im gettin a steady demand from local rappers workin on projects who want beats so i know my shit can only go up from here......i got into graphics and went to school for a while but had to drop out cuz of financial problems but i still got skills in that so im gettin that on locc too.......if i can make some decent money independantly then i dont need a job workin for somebody else makin them rich while i keep livin in the hood......thas my reason for rapping .....for the love of life and money......which are pretty much one and the same these days.......

oh yeah and cuz i also noticed since i started producing music and doin graphics i dont get locced up no more...lol.....minus the occasional drunk tank......

my reason,

I enjoy expanding people minds on different angles to look at situations aka minipulation through mind. Since i have been a emcee/poet i give people another reason to live the life right and for a bright future instead of for the moment with dirty money.

So far it has been doing good and our music is labeled world hip hop because of the wind intras and strings (from baboo, sway, tech, rev,) they feel its different then what your used to hearing.

I started writing to keep my mind off my best friends death, and carry on with something that him and I started together. Now, instead of dwelling on it, I make music to reach out to people and show kids that EVERYBODY goes through it. What do I have to offer the rap game? MYSELF! By that I mean, I'm not sayin' the same shit the next man said because it's cool...I'm sayin' what's in my heart and mind because I know EVERYBODY can relate to it. Not everybody can relate to slangin', bangin, gun clappin', gettin hyphy, goin' dumb, etc...and it seems like every new rapper is talkin' about one of the above quite frequently. So, who am I? Just an everyday cat with a gift and a love for music and people all over the world.

If I spark ONE PERSONS mind, I've done my job...because that ONE PERSON might change the world...or have a part in changing the world.

I don't know, positive is what a LOT of people are looking for right now. People like violent movies...but they also like movies with positivity as long as the message is STRONG!

My example would be KONTAC...he's doing something EXTREMELY positive, and he's all over the place right now. It all just depends on how you approach it.

i think our label just keeps things simple.....rap about what you know and what takes place in your life.....

the reason people gravitate towards certain artists is emotion. when you listen to mary j blige, you feel what she sings about, when you heard kanye's first album you felt where he came from.

thats what people want. all great artists, no matter what type of music are succesful because fans can emotionally connect with their music.

Music is Therapy, we are our own therapists. I feel we all do it to sooth ourselves and others just happen to feel the vibe and relate too it.

I don't try to impress anyone else.

No doubt...I think that's how artists should see it, feel me? We may be speaking, through music, to the next Ghandi or MLK...

"But still they play me, maybe, they'll see what raised me/another day, hopefully before a coward sprays me/with strays from an A-K, a deal gone shady/I gotta make a mark on this planet, before I fade, see"

This is an interesting thread. I wounder if what people THINK they are bringing to the table matches what THE PEOPLE THINK about them as an artist.
That is why I made this thread.lol. To see what artists THINK they are bringing.
