There's enough white boys in the game now to not have to use it as a hook. Rap officially has no color lines. Also we have established that young dudes have heat too so we can all stop saying shit like "he's only 15" and shit.

Im sick of weak rappers period. There's weak rappers of every color. The best white guy I heard rap is this cat Politics. He got flows and yall probably heard his beats by now.

it's the industry that applies those labels, and it's the "rappers" with questionable skills that apply the labels to themselves.

if you dig a genre of music, and want to create some of your own, you shouldn't feel like you have to have criteria in order to do it. Of course it makes no sense for someone who has never lived the lifestyle, to go out and make shoot 'em up raps, but that doesnt mean that the person couldnt talk about their experiences.

the problem is, that no one wants to hear boring songs consisting of obscure samples and big vocabulary anymore. unfortunately, a good chunk of hip hop's audience doesn't understand WTF is being said, and instead of taking the time to listen and catch up, they move on to something that slaps and has dumbed down, mono-syllabalic lyrics or chants.

we need to change shit in our own minds, because when I hear cats like Indo, Moe, Young Dru, Klump, Dutch, etc....the last thing I think about is what's the color of they skin. Bottom line is, the music slaps regardless of the heritage.

I agree with you on the "gimmick" thing. As a white dude who is and has always been serious about the art form, it definitely pisses me off to see anyone handed a deal as a "gimmick" or an attempt to capatalize off of skin color as a novelty. I'm wit everybody that has posted so far. I don't like people getting put on on some William Hung shit and I don't like shitty rappers in general and there are those of every race, color, creed, size and shape. Its getting tougher for A&Rs and other execs. to weed through all of the B.S. to get to the goods, fell me, but I think in the end true talent shines through more often than not.

and the moment the white mc trend fades itll be another race thats taboo when it comes to rapping.

See Haji springer.
cough. jin.
terriyaki boys.

what happened to black people acting like other races in rap? like wu tang and fu-schnikens? keith murray attempting to use big ass caucasian 13 letter words and failing miserably? (beautifullest is NOT a word.) we need more of that.

that said, fresh kid ice from 2 live crew was NOT a gimmick, he was just a real ass chinese nigga and we embraced that.
