whats wrong with making mixtapes without sfx and without starting the track over or bringing a line back? I support and actually buy the cds and its just "not bumpable" when you gettin the feel of a track and it gets rewinded or adding a louder sfx then the actual music, cop sirens, car horns honking, i cant tell u how many times that messed me up driving. You guys cant just have the demolition men muthaf*ckaz sfx in the middle of each track but not over powering the sound of each track? blend the tracks to eachother so the dj feel is still there... imma still buy but im just sayin tho I buy them for full price at rasputins i dont gettem from the streets. thats bad biz to just to tell us not to get it then.

Yes sound effects can be overkill sometimes. As one who has listened to literally hundreds of reggae mix cds I have come to hate the fog horn.

Yall should give more respect Devro & Imperial though they're the best bay rap got when it comes to artists mixtapes. Demolition Men pull a lot of tight sound effects like broken glass or the monkeys screaching for animal planet. hella dope. oh and pulling up a track builds up needed anticipation and should be used sparingly imo.

As any music business exec in this game, I do appreciate this thread for the fans perspective and feedback. For one, I do believe that a hosting dj shouldn`t try to dominate the project, but should try to make the project whole, complete. Bring it together and make it your delivery style, but don`t over do it. I have never heard a radio dj do it over the air, why do mixtape dj`s feel the need to do it over tracks? Ego maybe? Not sure.

Also, paying full price for promotional material is ridiculous! PERIOD!! A mixtape is used for a dj to promote new artists and cuts to the masses. The key here is PROMOTION. I will NEVER pay 2 peaces of copper for a mixtape. Give it to me to promote, or take your recycled hustle somewhere else.

Just my 2 bucks on the subject. Now where`s my mixtape?!
