AP-9

AP-9 returns with a vengeance on this anticipated album said to be the best of his career by some. The album contains tracks like "Streets" which is a deeply moving track ...wow...this reminds me of the old AP from Headshots I've been waiting to hear for years, ..the AP that grabbed a hold of the listener and pulled you into his world with his lyrics. The sample in the backround blends together with the beat like coke and baking soda in hot water... forming a solid rock of a track overall...

Jacka start off the next track with his laid back vocal tone followed up by Fed-X..Bobby Valentino blows the chorus smooth as hell.....So far this is a pretty solid album.

On songs like "Automatic" AP basically talks about his new Lamborghini....while the beat isn't the albums best, AP fills it in with clever lyrics and a overall boastful tone...the confidence on the track is delivered as smooth as the interior of....well, a lambo. The features of this album include a gumbo mix of some of the rap games hardest street hitters including Goldie, Killa Tay, Clyde Carson,Marvaless and T-Nutty.

All of which help the album shine instead of outshining the main artist, always a plus. The most unexpected feature of the album is definitely Aaron Carter, who manages to actually help create a very well rounded album...the song "What it is" is definitely one of the album more mainstream and radio singles, anyone that doubted the caliber of this song I'd have to say...you were wrong.

Tracks like "Wit the Shit" and "Mob Nigga" are like a full clip of hollow points loaded into a fully...hitting play just unloads nothing but heat that's bound to hit you....while tracks like " My Swag " and "Fast or Slow" show off AP's confidence and smooth delivery. The "old AP" comes through in full spectrum on tracks like the title track "Reality Check" where he pours out his thoughts over the track...

While indeed a very impressive album, I would have to say it comes in at a close second to "Headshotz" and does reflect AP9's growth both financially and mentally. The album gives the listeners quite a few different types of tracks, covering many aspects of AP9's life from laying low in Lambo's to laying in the hospital gripping onto the last thread of life.

Perhaps I'm still stuck on the old AP-9 from Headshotz....an album which didnt leave my deck for at least a month and classics like "In the Line of fire" and "Growing up" were on constant repeat and really hit home in many ways.. But I do feel this is AP's best album in the last few years that I've heard, both lyrically and production-wise.....but his best album overall I would have to disagree as its very hard for any artist to top their first hit or return to the original mindstate they were in. There are maybe 2 tracks I tend to skip through, which isnt bad and about average for what I consider to be a decent album...which two tracks?....who gives a fuck, go buy the album and see how you like it,its worth the 10 or 12 bucks or whatever CD's cost nowadays.

Damn...I need some weed...smoked up the last of it listening to this AP shit....can a nigga get a sack?

Nice work AP

All of which help the album shine instead of outshining the main artist
- this should be a motto for all the artists who fill their so called "solo albums" with dozens of featurings.

but his best album overall I would have to disagree as its very hard for any artist to top their first hit or return to the original mindstate they were in.
- another gospel truth

Great review. Thanx!
