always save your work as photoshop or illustrator files and when you are done you can save them as either .jpg, .tiff or .pdf files depending on who you are going thru to print (some spots require it to be CYMK, but also remember to at least have the file as 300DPI)

dont forget the bleed...and yeah you cant go from smaller to bigger...what i do is ill design the poster and bout 50% the final size and then save, flatten then double it...i havent noticed any pixelation on my 18x24 posters...

i know a lot of designers that design their covers twice the size just in case they may have to do posters later...

Wait so you make it half the size they want it, then resize it larger then it was when you print it? And it looks fine?

yeah...its not as crisp as it would be if i had designed it actual size but some of my clients dont have the best quality pics so i have to make do...

but i have a lot of posters on my wall and i have my designs next to major label artists and they diff is very minimal...

i also did it that way cuz i had an old comp that would take forever to render...

but most of the time what ill do is flatten everything but the text and resize the psd that way the text stays crisp...
