(1) Throw personal life out the window.
(2) Forget everything you think you know.
(3) Buy glasses.
(4) Don't listen to ANYBODY in your classes.
(5) Find 2L with outlines.
(6) Pray.
(7) Go to doctor for stomach ulcers.
(8) Watch economy fall and lawyers get laid off.
(9) Come to a firm understanding of why lawyers have the highest suicide rate of all professions.

Law school is 99.9% reading and writing. The first year they scare you to death, the second year they work you to death, the third year they bore you to death.

Aside from that, try to get on law review.

The 4 most important things you need to know in order to do good business in China is also something they don't teach you in school.

1. Eating
2. Drinking
3. Singing
4. Girls
Yup same with basically all of Asia. Here, they always take prospective clients out to a restaurant, drink some soju, then head to room salon or booking or whatever, which is basically more drinks and some singing with girls. If you can't provide a client with girls, well then you must not be able to do business.

BA in Spanish. Bad fuckin move. I should have added Finance, or Accounting, or something useful to that.

I got a 140 or something score on the Pre-LSAT (no studying), so if I studied hard and took the real thing, I'd probably grab a mid-150 and go to Law school at a decent place (Gonzaga or UW)..... can't afford it though.

I want to end up either teaching Linguistics....or helping legalize Immigrants. I can't make enough money to even get into that without a stint in business. Kind of sucks being from a poor family.

I really can't comment on that. I just graduated today, so I haven't locked down a job yet. It really depends what field you want to get into. If you go into business or IP law, you'll probably be able to find a job somewhere. If you go into personal injury it might be a little harder, but still easy.

I have an international law certificate in addition to my JD, and I focused on constitutional law, civil rights, and human rights. Its really goddamn interesting, but not very easy to find a job. I went to a top 50 law school that slid down into the 70s by the time I graduated...I wish I would have gone to one of the other schools I got accepted to, but oh well. Either way, the recession should let up by the end of the year, and I've never met a 50 year old lawyer that was unemployed.

I'm not trying to discourage you with the stuff that I said. But it really is as hard and intense as people make it out to be. All you gotta do is weather the storm and it comes to you. Its a lot like getting thrown into a foreign country without knowing a single word, and being expected to give a speech in that language by the end of the day. Or getting thrown into water without knowing how to swim, and then learning to swim before you drown.

Either way, the LSAT is a good indicator of ability. Law school admissions office are very good at determining whether or not you will be successful. If you've been accepted to a school, you will be able to do it. Just make sure you have a thick skin.

I would say the opposite is true....
you do realize the economy is shit and business jobs aren't the hot priority now right?

it's all software, programming, IT shit.

poly sci will get you further than business right now. unless you happen to be in the few spots that are still hiring.....

nobody is lookin for an assistant or any of that. going to college for that, when there's waaaaaaaaaay more people out there with that same fuckin degree is ignorant.

it's like buying microsoft stock hoping to get rich AFTER everyone else already owns shares. no point.

get a degree that will set you APART from others, not lump you in with them.

I think the key is that these old heads need to die or retire...give their job up to the next guy in line.

Sure, then we can pay for their social security and put the country in $70 Trillion worth of debt. Either way, we're all pretty much fucked. It's gonna end up coming to the point where you either fight, or surrender to the gov't like during WW2 in Germany.
