ANYBODY WITH A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN HERE?

I have so much so called "useless knowledge" from reading newspapers, magazines, surfin the Sicc ( )etc., but when I meet somebody from whatever country, I will find a subject I can talk with you about. Small talk in business is very important.

I 100% agree, small talk is VERY important, you have to be able to talk about SOMETHING with anyone, from any background at any time. I can talk to a ghetto ass dude from the fuckin projects but the next minute i can talk to a board member about some random shit.

useless knowledge is cool to have, but specializing in a certain professional field (hence the bachelors) is a whole lot more important for a job.

But if someone says having a BA is like having a HS diploma is just not true. Having a bachelors WITH NO experience does put you at a lower level than another candidate though. Not necessarily the high school drop out.

To feel satisfied with all the work u did in college u have to work somewhere in the field u studied, theres been so many times i said fuck it ill just work somewhere else, ill never find a job in politics, but i found one. Its also all about the cover letter, this is your chance to explain why you are right for this position and why u have the experience needed for that particular job.

Which brings me to being a writer. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. you have to be able to write. different kinds of writing. you dont have to sound too eloquent but you have to be able to write proffesionally.

the only shit i hate is that i act completely unlike myself and i hate having to put up a front. I want to just throw on my earrings, sag my pants, throw on my hat slap some jeezy, not worry about my tats, but i cant do that.

I remember the first time my job sent me to washington DC, i was in capitol hill and there was HELLA zack morris looking mother fuckers from the burbs that had there parents pay for them to go to harvard around me and i felt hella outta place cuz i felt like smackin the shit outta them. but its something ive learned to deal with. There are A LOT of bad hoes in the political field.

im five classes away from my bachelor's of arts in business administration with a marketing concentration.

all the core business courses can be applied to management.

Really, your BA/BS doesnt mean shit. 85-90% of college graduates have jobs that have nothing to do with their degree. Its your ability to network, mouthpiece and work hard once your in to move up that gets you where you want to be. Trust me, I went to SDSU and I shit all over kids from UC Berkeley day in and day out.

i work in online advertising. 4+ years experience in the advertising field alone. been goin to school for my bachelors since i got my associates degree in 2003.

ive done stuff from being an advertising assistant to tech support thanks to the program i took at heald. it was a hybrid of business and tech..and that paid off when i got into online advertising/new media.

im most likely going to go to grad school for a masters in intergrated marketing or advertising. i currently go to golden gate university. its a hella good school.

Yea man, I hate college too. Been going on and off for 9 years, lol. I've been in JC for 3 years STRAIGHT now (balls to the walls), 'cause every time I've gone to my counselor the dude told me I need more classes...even after I followed the program we put together. I had enough units and the right classes (minus 1 or 2) to get an AA, and the counselor told me I needed 7 more classes, which would have put me @ 81 units. So, I told him "Fuck your AA, it's not gonna get me anywhere my high school diploma won't...so after this semester I'm done and I'm getting my bachelor's". He wasn't too happy about that.

mine fucked program all up and ive been tryin to fix it for the last two weeks. i dropped my international business concentration and wanted to keep my marketing concentration. so she took IB off. then i told her to add on finance to replace IB, and this bitch still hasnt done it. then told me i had hella other general ed classes to take. i told her i alredy did them and so i made her check my files and she was able to transfer some of them over from my previous college.

so since she fucked up im not taking on finance either..just sticking to marketing and now i have LESS classes to take (less money for the school) and ill be done. so my advice to anyone in that situation is to definitely be on top of your program requirements, and know exactly what you need to take and what you have taken already. that way you dont end up missing courses in the end, or repeating courses you already took.

fuck it. i can study investments and banking on my own, like ive been doing for my entire life.

I agree 100%. In 3 years at a JC I talked to an adviser a total of 2 times. In university it's a little more important because I have university, college, and major requirements that get hard to keep track of. The student needs to keep track of their shit and not just take whatever an adviser says at face value..plus in school we're kinda supposed to learn not to do things like that lol

I got a BA in Journalism with a specialization in Broadcasting.

Along with an advertising minor, and sociology minor.

And I agree, take care of your own shit. Don't expect anyone to do it for you. I kept track of every single course I took, how many credits and when I took it. I checked off a list of classes I knew I needed to graduate...when the list was done, so was I. All cause I kept on top of my shit and made sure people did what they said they would. Stressful, but it's better than NOT graduating or missing out on courses.

I'm trying to figure out which would be best for me. A Bachelor's of Science in Management or a Bachelor's of Science in Business/Management. From what I've read and heard from the school, the BSBM would probably give me a wider range of career options because of all the content I would be learning.

Anybody have any experience with either degree? If so, speak on it.

heald college did that for me. it was cool. but most colleges you schedule your own courses..i dont need an advisor for that.

there are so many opportunities out there with a business degree. the program is very broad they teach you basic GE stuff, and lots of general management courses. for example, i could go into HR, or into sales, or into project management. thats why they give you the option to get a concentration under it to get a focus on something.

Law school is 99.9% reading and writing. The first year they scare you to death, the second year they work you to death, the third year they bore you to death.
