I got a ba in political science and im in law school. I also work with the legislature so im working in the field of my degree as well. The key to getting a job in the field of ur degree is internships while in school. Do as many as u can and ur already a step ahead of others with your degree looking at an entry level job. Masters degrees are also better when ur already in your field because u can get a raise or promotion easier rather than having them hire externally.
which law school do you go to? How is it? how can i prepare? (going in fall)

Also take public speaking classes bcuz sooner or later u will need it and it helps u talk to people without feeling intimidated.
I've put on shows and shit, and I took interpersonal communication a couple years back. I never get intimidated when speaking, because I'm an articulate man and I know how to talk to folks.

i hate college....

fuck asher roth for making that damn song...
Yea man, I hate college too. Been going on and off for 9 years, lol. I've been in JC for 3 years STRAIGHT now (balls to the walls), 'cause every time I've gone to my counselor the dude told me I need more classes...even after I followed the program we put together. I had enough units and the right classes (minus 1 or 2) to get an AA, and the counselor told me I needed 7 more classes, which would have put me @ 81 units. So, I told him "Fuck your AA, it's not gonna get me anywhere my high school diploma won't...so after this semester I'm done and I'm getting my bachelor's". He wasn't too happy about that.

college is a scam, and it creates more assholes in this world. its obvious within this thread, useless diplomas given to mindless drones, who look down upon others.

im gonna hit up a trade school and keep my sense of self, and skip all that douchebag bs entitlement that college has to offer.

Yea, a lot of people with any kind of degree are assholes, but there's a lot of us out here that stay grounded and do this kind of shit to advance in life.

I've been in college for a hot one, and I've never lost my sense of self. I don't look down on my dudes that don't go to school, and I don't talk to them or treat them like they're fuckin' retarded...as I'm sure a few people on here don't. It's just a personal choice that will make our personal situations better. Myself, I thought about trade school, but it's not for me. I'm a business man, and I need a degree so I can advance in my field....feel me? If shit works out right, I'll be the dude with the degree that brought his boys up that didn't have that degree.

I'm not here to make shit better for just me, I'm here to make shit better for my loved ones as well. If I lose a lot trying to do that, so be it...but I'll be broke knowing that I did everything for myself and my loved ones. Not everybody with a degree is a mindless prick.

Really, your BA/BS doesnt mean shit. 85-90% of college graduates have jobs that have nothing to do with their degree. Its your ability to network, mouthpiece and work hard once your in to move up that gets you where you want to be. Trust me, I went to SDSU and I shit all over kids from UC Berkeley day in and day out.
networking and "who you know" is especially important. i am in the middle of getting my master's in business administration (emphasis in finance) and what the degree does the most is legitimize you. for example, if you are bum off the street and try to get a business loan from the bank (no experience, no schooling, nothing) you aint getting shit. however, you walk in with a degree, or two or three, and suddenly people listen to what you have to say.

my mouthpiece game is about a 94 (out of 100). i can talk to anyone (no matter what income level, rich or poor, no matter what race of person, anywhere in the world).

getting a degree may not be the "end all" solution to finding a job, but you definitely put yourself on a different level by doing it. i am reaping the rewards now (finally, at the age of 30). couldn't be happier.

going to JC's/going to college partime/commuting to college = bad experience.
Going to a 4 year school with a good college town and living on or nearby campus = fun

i think thats what asher roth was talkin about.

Trade schools work, but then again, theres a ceiling you hit after a certain point.(there are exceptions obviously)
If you got a MBA, the amount you can make is limitless

and if college is not your thing, i do endorse trade schools. it doesn't matter exactly WHAT you do, but whatever craft you choose, do that shit well. don't try and get by doing the least amount, skating by. the more you contribute to society, the more society will cash you the fuck out.

true talk

having a degree doesn't guarantee you're gonna get a great job, but without a degree a lot of employers won't even bother taking a look at your app/resume

people say... "a BA is just like having a HS diploma"

yeah... ok... so if I don't have a BA it's like I don't even have a HS diploma

and a lot of employers won't even consider you if you don't have a HS diploma

I guess what it comes down to is the time and effort of going to college worth it for you... to me it is... I know one day it will eventually pay off... I may not have a job right after I graduate... but I'll get one eventually

and shit... even if my job isn't in the field I study in college, I can almost guarantee that the fact I have a degree in ANYTHING is gonna help me get a job

it tells employers that you're more motivated and dedicated than this guy without a diploma... now don't get me wrong... I'm not saying that people without a degree are NOT motivated and hard working... because sometimes they are more so than people who go to college... but it's just the way the world works... I've accepted that fact

another thing... I see A LOT of people who are older... in the 40's and up in my classes who often already have good careers... but are going back to school so they can further their careers

a lot of times even if you can only work your way up in a company so far until you hit that point where you NEED a degree...

so I figure might as well just get it now while I'm young... it's better to have one that not have one... that's how I look at it

only life and experience can teach you what you need to know to be truly successful at something.
Right On!

I know people who got the best diplomas and degrees and are dumb as fuck. They were just nerds and studied all their life.

When I hire somebody, I don't look at what that person studied or what kind of grades the person got.

I have so much so called "useless knowledge" from reading newspapers, magazines, surfin the Sicc ( :siccness: )etc., but when I meet somebody from whatever country, I will find a subject I can talk with you about. Small talk in business is very important.
