Shit any former employees of Best Buy get their settlement check?

Anyways after I quit working for bb I got this letter in the mail from a law firm about a class action lawsuit against best buy. Signed and returned a form, 2 months later I get a check in the mail for $732.00 . Just wanted to know if anyone else was part of this.

I don't wanna scare anyone from workin some place, but at Best Buy you are disposable as dollar store toilet paper. The only thing good about best buy is the employee discount which is wholesale + 5%. The reason I quit was because of the pure what-the-fuck-they-complaining-about-now bullshit. I worked full time so there was always pressure for numbers numbers and more numbers. Keep in mind that their is NO COMMISION. They say it's to make sales to customers easier, but it's to keep money in their pockets.

At Best Buy you have to be the salesman that you would want to punch in the mouth. I worked in the computer/home office dept, so ontop of selling $2,000 grand computer packages, I had to convince poor single mothers, students spending there last of their bank, and old folks that they needed the Best Buys famous " Performance Service Plan" aka Extended Warranty which ran another $200. Also a usb cable for the printer (gold plated because it's "better"..yeah) $36. Oh don't forget extra ink because they want you to tell the customer that the ink that comes with the printer is a "sample", but its not $60. Shit dont forget you MUST get them to sign up for internet services and other upgrades.

Anyway Best Buy thrives on taking advantage of customers. I was good at what I did, but couldn't sleep easy at night knowing I just took someones Grandpa for $4,000 worth of electronic goods. And even more worse, if you didn't complete the "complete solution" you had managers drilling you with questions and dumb shit.

Anyway if you are planning to apply for Best Buy I recommend BestBuySux.org and read some of the daily stories from employees.

As for pay and shit:
Depending on the store there are only 2 full timers in each department usually.

I started off at $9.88 hr.

Pay is capped by department so don't expect anything over $15 and that is even rare.

General Managers make bank like dude say they made easy 100k+ a year, mine was cool as fuck so I can't talk shit about her.

It's a popularity game workin there, if you don't make "friends" you ain't lasting.

Oh and the lawsuit is about employees getting robbed of hours on their checks by having to work late, through lunches and brakes and not getting regular or over time pay as from what I understand. This never happend to me because I always kept track of my time, but shit I seen a possibility for a free check and jumped on it lol.

When I was 18 working @ CompUSA, the shit was the same way. IF you didn't sell those fuckin warranties, the retail sales manager was all over your ass. Fuck retail, if people said NO, I said coo and went on with my day.

I can speak for Circuit City cause I used to work there. I started as a CSA, then sales, then warehouse. Circuit City is the shit. $9.00 starting. After 3 month working there you get $10.50. They take care of you and its a friendly environment.

If any of you are interested in sales, try Circuit City first.
