Undefeated 2004 U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward weighed 167 pounds, while opponent Roger Cantrell tipped the scales at 166.5 pounds during Thursday’s weigh-in at the Bay Garden Beach Resort on Reduit Beach in Gros-Islet, St. Lucia.
Andre Ward, 13-0, (8):
“My condition is tip-top shape; we can’t get in any better shape than we are now. I’m just ready to go for tomorrow night. All I’ll predict is a win. KO, distance, it doesn’t matter how you get it. We worked hard to get a win and that’s what we’ve come to get. We’re definitely going to get it.”
Roger Cantrell, 12-0, (8):
“I feel great. I’m looking for a victory. I’m in the best shape of my life. I trained 58 days in Las Vegas at the Top Rank Gym and I’m two pounds under weight and feel good, the best I’ve ever felt in my life. You know Ward’s a great boxer and I’m expecting the best out of him. He is going to get the best out of me. I predict a mid-round knockout.”
