My cousin posts at a boxing website and I had him ask one of the moderators over there that know about that type of shit and here's the response he got.

"It is my understanding that the big fights in Vegas are blocked out by all cable and dish networks, particularly PPV's. Sometimes a black out can occur upwards to a 20 mile radius of the location of the fight. Sucks cuz Vegas cable/dish networks will even BROADCAST promotions for the fight. But if you are in Nevada for a big fight and want to see it LIVE, you have to go to the casino. The reason for the blackouts? Promoters believe that if they didn't do this, everyone would watch on HBO, Showtime, or PPV, and no one would go to the casinos for the fights."
