amish are all over... But all my Amish encounters have been in Ohio.. I was at a big boy or something down there and like 10 Amish people came out of a white van and stopped there.

ohio pennsylvania and indiana is where youll find the majority of amish folks. i had the "privilege" of traveling to middlebury indiana for a month and working with some of those folks. (there was a hitching post at the job site so people could tie up their horses) theyre good people once youre around them. you gotta respect someone who can forsake all of modern civilations luxuries. but dont get it twisted the young ones are allowed to go live as they choose for a couple years at the age of 16 to decide if thats how they want to live their life. a good portion of them give up that life for the secular one. some of them fools are half ass amish tho. i got a picture somewhere of an amish family in a horse and carriage towing a boat with a motor on it.

We used to see them all the time when going on vacation and driving through PA. They give tours of their villages. No electricity, horse and buggy, its like little house on the prairie. The ones I met were really good people. I always wondered what made them stick to that point in time though (probably when their movement started)? They use sewing machines, not electric. That would be modern to someone born in the 1200s. They live more modern than Jesus Christ did. Why don't they emulate that time era?
