i'm kinda use to it but its an artists way around here to let cats know what's up ahead of time to create some anticipation and a buzz

i doubt cats would move more units by just droppin an album out of the cuts without tellin cats about it

Damn Sav. I feel you but I also remember back in the day YOU sayin you had some shit comin that didnt come out for a while. Anyone who does this shit knows that mixing, mastering, pressing, promotions are usually out of the labels control if there are delays. Many many factors cause delays, of course the label and artists never want that to happen. Its just a part of ALL music, independent and major.

I feel you sav but you gotta realize that they gotta make sure everything is lined up correctly as far as record release, ads, etc. or else the album might slip under the radar. the difference between 5,000 and 10,000 sold for an indy is huge and putting it out later rather then sooner might get you those sales

but I'd say at least half the time it is just because the artist is lazy with putting it together. they just arent working at a pace to put it out on time. there have definitely been albums that I was sure I was gonna cop but after a year of pushbacks when it finally comes out, I say forget it and never buy it. basically you can tell with the final product. if it gets pushed back hella times and it isnt a great album, you can bet it was the artist just being lazy.

Bay - I respect your comments. The only thing I disagree with is your line "I'd say at least half the time it is just because the artist is lazy with putting it together". Anyone that puts out albums KNOWS that 98% of the time, an artist comes to a LABEL or someone with MONEY and asks THEM to invest in THEM. So 9 times out of 10, the ARTIST comes on here or wherever and spouts out a date that THEY wish the album would come out but the LABEL has to come out of pocket for all the real money shit that the ARTIST wouldn't DARE invest in themselves LOL. Again, recording, features, artwork, mixing, mastering, promos, etc. I swear boss, artists act like INVESTORS come into this shit HOPING we will LOSE our money for FUN. Shit, if that's the case, we may as well buy a pound of weed for 4,500 and slang it for months in small sacks to make back 1,000 total, completely happy and content with losing 3500 bucks like we have nothing better to do or we have no kids to feed. I am fully aware that 70% of the people who post on Siccness are under 20 and have NO idea how this shit works. Hell, Malice has sold a shitload of units on our label and were just now recouping. If you wanna make some money, invest in a fuckin coffee shop/laundry mat biz, the kind that are makin a killing in the Tenderloin right now. Invest in a fuckin soda machine whose turf is on a fuckin College campus. Shoot a fuckin porn movie GONZOE STYLE. Those are sound investments for the money motivated hustlers on here that know how to make a dollar out of the preverbial .15cents. You wanna make music? Shut the fuck up and have fun, quit complaining, quit blaming others and most of all, quit waitin for a fuckin handout.

dont take what I said the wrong way. when I said half, I was generalizing everyone as a whole. but even still, a lot of artists put a date out way before their album is even done. that is what I have a problem with. the is no reason to say something like "I'ma hit the studio and start recording an album and it should be out by april 20 2005." thats where a lot of the pushbacks happen. at that shit needs to stop. dont put out a date before your shit is recorded.

but when you got someone like san quinn whose last album was supposed to come out like 3 years before it did, I can understand that. he put in the work and was waiting for the right deal, mastering, etc. yeah its very frustrating but in the end he put out a classic album IMO and I really couldnt have asked for more.

but this is all coming someone who doesnt rap or anything. I'm just a fan who buys a hell of a lot of cds. so take my opinion however you want, but remember, the opinion of the fans is what really matters.

and dont think I'm knocking yall at apt3dna at all. I just copped that malice album a few weeks ago and it hasnt left my stereo since. that album is in my top 3 of 2004.

Not at all Bay, nothin taken the wrong way. Re-read my post. I said I totally agree with most of what you say, just not that one line but you have explained yourself and I feel that. We do not take offense at all and we are more than happy that you have supported the Malice cd.

As we speak I'm investing in a laundrymat. My point illmannered666 was that it's a moot issue to advertise some shit 6 months in advance. Every project I advertised has come out within 90 days and I didn't keep hopping on here saying "My shit is coming, here's the tracklisting, here's the features". I may have said it was coming once or twice and then I got around to letting Siccness know about it. I know yall don't really know me but my MAIN focus is getting my shit out internationally and I have said that before. My shit releases in Ireland and other parts of Europe. I don't make Bay area music because I don't have that "around the hood slumping" sound to my shit usually. Even the new Illusive Records project that we completed almost a year and a half ago is gonna knock and I know for a fact it will be more popular in India than here in the Bay We dropped a video for one of the songs and I posted the link for it in here last year. Alot of muthafuckas was hating but some folks felt it. Why do I make music ? Because I got flows...period.

I feel the same way about muthafuckas advertising movis like when they advertised The Matrix Revolutions a whole year before it came out. That shit doesnt make me anticipate nothing.

My other point is this if we're going to compete with other regions and artists we got to stop pushing back our product into the Buck Rogers dates and shit.

I think you need to work on your composing/production skills a little bit more pimpin. How long have you been making beats? That first beat didn't have anything going for it. Sounded like one big wall of sound. The mac dre thing didn't do it for me either. What are you using for sounds?

ive been sayin for the longest that that was the fucked up version for the mac dre tribute song cuz my cpu crashed and i lossed hella shit. as for the other beatz, ive been doin this for almost a year now i am using reason 2.5 and i have hella refills and wav sounds pretty much any sound u can think of..im bout to get the nord lead 2 refill with all the sounds from that machine plus all the sounds from the roland fantom x6 and yamaha motif plus the korg triton, i already have a refill of the korg trinity and im buying new 808 drums
Pimpin I think you should work on your music theory and composition skills. It's cool to have all the latest sounds and what not but it don't mean shit if you can't play chord progressions or know how to properly arrange a song (and i'm not just talking 8 bar intro, 16 bar verse, 8 bar hook etc etc etc). The sounds aren't really interacting with each other meaning they don't "talk" to one another.

BTW if you need sample cd's, reason refills, AKAI, GIGA etc etc etc for CHEAP ($10 A POP) let me know. I'll hook you up with two people.
