HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct. 22 — Actor Fred Berry has died, according to the Associated Press. The comic actor was best known for his role as Rerun on the 1970’s TV sitcom “What’s Happening!”

A PASTOR tells the Huntsville Times newspaper that Berry died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles.

The pastor said Berry had suffered a stroke sometime before the last time he saw him in August.

“What’s Happening!” was loosely based on the 1975 movie “Cooley High.” It told the story of three friends, Raj, Rerun (real name: Freddie Stubbs), and Dwayne, growing up in Los Angeles. It ran from 1976-1979, and produced the 1985 spinoff “What’s Happening Now!”

According to the Internet Movie Database, Berry was married six times to four women, marrying two of his wives twice.

He had been seen recently on the VH1 program “I Love the ’70s,” commenting on fads and pop culture of the decade. Berry and his “What’s Happening!” co-star Ernest Thomas played themselves in the movie “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.”Star.”
