Anything above 5 megapixel's is good. Unless you're trying to go for some outstanding shots but the higher the megapixel the more space the pic will take up on your computer.

Stick to something simple like Canon or Sony

HAHA!

But if you're looking for a good point and shoot, go to best buy and mess with the cameras n, also look at reviews. People are always going to recommend this or that but odds are they've never fucked with that particular camera.

lol.

lemme break it down. you don't need more than 2 megapixels if you plan on doing 4X6's. Right now however 6 or 7mps are the standard so get a camera worth a damn and don't worry too much about the megapixel count.

as far as quality is concerned it has nothing to do with the resolution of the camera. it has to do more with the lense. but even then there are cameras with better ISO counts, focal lenghts, aperture, indoor quality/outdoor quality.

i suggest you go to a store see which cams they got, jot them down, and do your homework. although i would agree with Viz and stick to a Canon or Sony.

Do you know what you want to do with this camera (I know that you want to take pictures with it) but what are your standerds on quality etc, what are you going to photograph, etc, etc, etc. If you could tell us this we might actually be able to help you along your way.
