According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Police are investigating the abduction of an Oak Lane man early this morning near his residence in connection with the murder of Beanie Sigel's stepfather (see our previous news).
About 5:40 a.m., officers were directed to the 6700 block of North Third Street to investigate a report of a person with a weapon. There, they found a neighbor who reported that a man came out of a nearby residence, heading to his vehicle, and was intercepted by two dark-colored vehicles that drew up and blocked him in front and rear.
Three men wearing gray hooded sweatshirts jumped out of the vehicles, pointed guns at the man and threw him into one of the vehicles. Both vehicles sped off.
Police said the man, whose name they witheld, knew 46-year-old Samuel Derry - the slain stepfather - and may have spent time with either him or Derry's brother in prison. Detectives were investigating a report the abducted man had been a cellmate of Derry.
The vehicles raced off and disappeared.
Derry's body had been dumped early yesterday and set on fire near the 8100 block of Forrest Avenue in Cedarbrook. It was later determined he had been shot twice in the stomach and his body set on fire after he died.
