A-Wax: Certified Konvict

" I found this cat A-Wax. He's gonna bring the westcoast back."

Pittsburg's Waxfase has been on the independent hustle for years now. Whether it was packin 65 G'z In a Jordan Briefcase, or letting you know Who Got It, he was set to put his town of the P on the map. While no stranger to battles, off and on wax, he's stayed focused on releasing project after project. This year is no different and he's already dropped a second pre-album mixtape by the name of Rat Trap. In addition, he welcomed two new artists to his Pie-Rx Records camp. Those two are Bubs from San Francisco, and Telly Mac also from SF, who you remember from the crew The Gamblaz. The trio also released a new album this week under the "Pie-Rx Alumni" monker. Bubs and Telly will also be taking over the day to day duties of the label while Wax is out doing his thing--which we're about to get into now.

Back to bringing the westcoast back. Akon, who brought you hits such as "Lonely" and Locked Up", has his eyes set on the P-World entrepenuer, and it looks like he has a new Konvict on the cell block. Wax on a major? It's no rumor.

"I'm workin' in Atlanta right now on a solo album and a few mixtapes for Akon's label Konvict Muzik." said A-Wax about his current moves. And yes, we did say he was an entrepenuer, as he's also going to be the head of a new brand for the Konvict label.

"Look out for Konvict Kustoms in Atlanta, rims & cars for sale! That's a joint venture we got in the works."

So when all is said and done you can expect Wax's new solo record titled "If My Llello Could Speak". Right now Akon, T-Pain, Smigg Dirtee, and I-Rocc are set to be apart of the record. A-Wax also has a few DVDs in the works, including some mixtape pack ins and the Operation Navigator DVD, which if you've been following Wax's music, you should know what is about.

But back to the projects you can already pick up in stores, Pie-Rx Alumni and Rat Trap. We have some audio on the Rat Trap mixtape for yall, one of which features Akon also.

Hmm.. am i the only one that thinks the whole "bringin the westcoast back" shit is a lil corny and played out ? No hate or anything but a-wax bringing the westcoast back sounds just as believable as gucci man beating rakim in a battle.

First of all it aint no such thing as the westcoast its the bay and la. Somebody from the bay blowing up is not going to effect LA's position in the game and vice versa WE TOO DIFFERENT MUSICWISE AND MENTALITYWISE.

And 2nd of all awax being white will be hard enough for him to break trough nationally let alone "bringing the whole westcoast or the bay area back". And besides he doesnt have mainstream appeal (atleast not from the shit ive heard he might prove me wrong in the future) and no real buzz in the bay outside of a few messageboards online and thats only cuz of his lil publicity stunts. With that said cuz is raw as fuck on the mic!

not hating just stating my opinion and facts.

i dont know race really has nothing to do with anything and for how its said bringing back the west coast back basically if he get his foot stepped in the door and start making moves in the mainstream....to other regions the south and ny we mainly all looked at from the bay to la as just west coast

Wow u really serious ? Its a known fact and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to acknowledge that it is alot harder for white artists to break trough in rap like that.... im not saying i agree with that it was just a part of my argument

I dont know why yall insist on calling him white. Is halle berry white? That nigga is mixed. Period. I dont know any white people that look like A wax.
Yeah wax is mixed but he ain't mixed with Black from what i heard the dude is mostly Italian

Wax is hella sick though, I'm just waiting for him to drop a solo album. Hes been on the mixtape grind for hella long now. I hope his next album is as good as his other ones

I'm sayin' though....REGARDLESS of what his heritage is, this is a GOOD thing. True, a FEW more avenues might be available to him because of his complexion, but his TALENT is what got him this oppurtunity.

Another Nor Cal artist gettin' money & exposure is good for the area as a whole.

IN my opinion A-wax isn't all that good. I bought that cd with him and Woodie and wasn't feeling it that much there were a few songs that's about it. To me his flow is way too slow. But if he's making moves then more power to him. Maybe he can get some more attention over here in the bay. Cause bay rap is the best out there period.

If you want to hear tight A-wax fuck with Savage times or 65 Gs in a Jordan briefcase or the first Who Got It comp he kinda switched his style up after that. Its still good but his flow is kinda depressing sometimes. Some of the mixtape shit he did with Smigg was nice too but i don't buy too many mixtapes

Yeah, that cd with him and woodie isnt all that great, he has some decent songs on it though(love is hope saves it.) I like his new style the same as his old, especially when he does the story telling.
