of course but here's the bottom line: selling directly doesn't allow for soundscan.
what soundscan does is keeps track of your total sales. there will always be moms
& pops stores that will sell without soundscan so that's already an un-accounted for
amount of sales. you want to account for as much as possible. based on the more
sales you can prove the better you can strengthen your position in dealing with
distributors & bigger companies; the more sales, the better your deal, the better
your cut, the better their trust in what you decide to put out, etc. it's more money
in my pocket NOW to sell direct; it will be much more money in my pocket LATER
if i push the soundscans. & i plan on winning the war, not just this battle.
