why is this?

U.D.I., I.M.P., Mac Dre, Cold world hustlers, dubee why is it that most peoples first albums are their best and the others are garbage compared to the first one?

^^it definately is true for more than half of artists out there...you can at least make a solid case that their first cd is their best.

the reason is, they got their whole lifetime to come up with this music, and lyrics...then, after it's a success, they have to do it again in a matter of months...

Your examples are fuckin weak homie. First Cold World Hustlers album was Cold Streets, second was Iceland-a straight up classic. If you don't count the two early tapes, the second I.M.P. album was Ill Mannered Playas-straight up classic and better than Back In The Days by far. Second Mac Dre album, if you don't count all the maxi and E.P., is either the Rompilation or Stupid Doo Doo Dumb if you leave out the Romp as a compilation. Either way, both are dope ass albums. Second U.D.I., Drinks On Us, wasn't as good as the first, but it was still solid.

I think its because these guys are at their hungriest before they actually establish themselves.

Then when they get their foot into the door, they lose that sense of urgency...because they know that everything isn't riding on this new release...

But I say the great ones get better with every album..

'cuz on the first album no one knows them so they gotta make sure they come hella clean and hungry. Its like everybody's first impression of 'em. So of course you would want to make sure your first impression is hella dope too. After they taste success though they prolly aren't under the same pressure to make a classic album.

They are under no pressure when making the first album - you don't have much to lose when you nobody => you come tight and original; after that you start worrying if this is going ot sell, will I have a hit, what is hot now, bla-bla and the music suffers

cuz they start smokin alot more weed, spending way more money on that shit and start thinking they're shit is getting tighter but the fact is that being high makes everything sound tight when its loud enough.
