XV3 HUMBOLDT COUNTY STYLE

EUREKA -- A 10-month investigation into two separate bombing incidents late last year has resulted in the arrests of two Eureka gang members.

The Eureka Police Department said Manuel Frank Guerrero, 20, and Thomas Joaquine Frank, 25, were arrested on five felony counts each, including possession of a destructive device intended for a felony, conspiracy to commit a felony and gang enhancement charges.

On Oct. 22, the men allegedly tossed a grenade through the front window of a home on the 1800 block of A Street and ran. The grenade did not explode and was disposed of by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Bomb Squad. A resident of the home told police he believed the grenade was thrown by members of a local gang.

Detective Dave Parris of the Eureka Police Department said the people in the house were not gang members but knew some.

The men are also charged with allegedly throwing a pipe bomb through the front window of an apartment on the 100 block of West Del Norte Street on Dec. 15. The apartment was recently vacated by gang members and was empty, but Parris said the explosion still caused $8,000 in damage.

Both Guerrero and Frank are validated members of the 18th Street gang.

Guerrero was arrested July 8 and Frank was arrested Aug. 23. Both were booked into the Humboldt County Jail and both remain in custody

The gang enhancement charges tack on three extra years of incarceration per charge, if they are convicted.

no it is not...

18th is their own gang....

just becuz theyre originally from LA doesnt mean theyre surenos....
Are you smokin crack dogg? 18th street is the biggest sureno gang there is. They claim the south, maybe not the wannabes in other citys but in LA county that's the way it is. Just because an LA gang doesn't hit up 13 along with their name doesn't mean that they aren't surenos.
