The sweet story of the 106-year-old woman who watches every Lakers game on TV came to an end Friday — one week after she received a box of goodies from Lakers executive vice president Jeanie Buss as a special treat for her devotion.
Charlotte Cross died Friday at her granddaughter’s Mission Viejo home, but Lori Basheda’s story about her in the Register changed the course of Cross’ final days. (More details on Cross’ death here.) Not only did her life’s path actually cross with Kobe Bryant’s when Lakers spokesman John Black informed Bryant of Cross’ affection for him, she spent her last week savoring the memorabilia that had been gifted to her by Buss.
