Yeah the song "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is on the Donnie Darko soundtrack. It's a great song and their most well known but IMO it is FAR from their best. You stated you like "depressing" music then you will more then likely love Joy Division. Must of their stuff is pretty dark and gloomy...
Yeah IMO Alice In Chains is one of the best bands ever. Funny enough I was torn between Would?, I Stay Away, Rooster and Down in a Hole as which one to put for Alice In Chains. I picked Would? because I am also a huge Mother Love Bone fan and the song was written by Jerry Cantrell asking...
I'd be here forever if I did all my favorite songs so here is my top 10 rock (and only one song from each band.)
In no order...
Tool - Aenima
Alice In Chains - Would?
Joy Division - Dead Souls
Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box
Pantera - This Love
System of a Down - Sugar
Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
Mars...

They don't have one official "unplugged" album but on a lot of the live official bootlegs their are quite a few acoustic/unplugged songs. Maybe he just heard one of those.
You sure he isn't thinking of either Alice In Chains or Nirvana? They both put out AMAZING Unplugged albums IMO.
The new Pearl Jam is really good IMO. I am a pretty big fan of their work and it's my second favorite album of theirs behind Ten (which they will never top.)
I like all types of rock music but I agree with you about progressive/experimental bands usually being the best.

Are all those acts on one stage or is there a main stage and then one or two other stages?
Nine Black Alps and The Subways are playing at the event I'm going to as well. I like both their music but I can't speak for their stage show because I haven't seen either live before. Tapes & Tapes and...
I take it you are going you lucky fucking bastard? lol.
Damn I would try to go both days if I was you. I hear AFI put on one hell of a show. Modest Mouse is amazing live IMO...I'm seeing them in August with Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a few other bands at End Fest. I don't know if you like or...
The new Mars Volta is going to be called Amputechture and the band says it will be released late Aug. or early-mid Sept. It's supposed to have a more De-Loused feel to it and less of the ambient/space feel that Frances the Mute had.
I personally can't wait for this album to drop. I'll post up...
Yeah I agree with Johnny Cash's version being better. Both are great versions thought. I remember reading that Trent said when Cash covered it that he felt it was no longer a NIN song but that it was now a Johnny Cash song and that it was one of the biggest highlights of his life to have Cash...
Good looking out Psilo. I've always heard of Opeth too and that they were pretty good but I've never heard any of their stuff. I'm downloading it now and will listen when I get home from work.
Thanks again.
