SNEED: Chicago priest blessed hotel floor after Las Vegas massacre | Chicago Sun-Times

“I felt surrounded by the mystery of evil,” said Kiley, who’d been asked to conduct a special church ritual on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas — a perch used to slaughter 59 people and wound more than 500 others.

A Chicago-based priest who works for the UNITEHERE union of hotel workers, Kiley told Sneed he had been asked to conduct the blessing last week on behalf of the traumatized union members.
“The FBI had already returned the floor to the hotel, but I remember wondering whether the spirit of evil was still there” said Kiley.

So Kiley, a native Chicagoan who works closely with Cardinal Blase Cupich, took a glass of water and a palm branch from a tree in the lobby of the Mandalay Bay hotel, and went to the 32nd floor to conduct a spiritual cleansing.

“As we opened the temporary door installed to seal the crime scene, I have to say it felt like I was pushed back — as if to keep me from entering.

“In my mind, I found myself saying to myself: ‘Oh no, you have to go.’ I instinctively began to pray in silence: ‘St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Protect us against the wickedness and snares of the devil.’

“Then, I noticed the absolutely most stunning hotel room view you could imagine. I found there was no way to hold any of this together rationally. I kept saying this is just evil, raw evil.

“So I blessed the water according to the Roman ritual and then began to bless my companion and me, and then each and every corner of the suite.

“I blessed each bullet and room going back down the hall. I used the prayer for the blessing of a house and extended the prayer with an invocation to the Holy Spirit to descend in this place with light, joy, peace, hope and life."

Multinational Force West
Battles/wars
Persian Gulf War
Operation Desert Storm
Iraq War
Awards Defense Distinguished Service Medal
Defense Superior Service Medal
Legion of Merit (2) with Combat "V"
Meritorious Service Medal (2)

Kelly is a retired United States Marine Corps general and the former commander of United States Southern Command, the unified combatant command responsible for American military operations in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. He had previously served as the commanding general of the Multi-National Force West in Iraq from February 2008 to February 2009, and as the commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North in October 2009.[2] Kelly succeeded General Douglas M. Fraser as commander of U.S. Southern Command on November 19, 2012

In March 2003, while in Iraq, Kelly was promoted to brigadier general, which was the first known promotion of a Marine Corps colonel in an active combat zone since that of another First Marine Division assistant division commander, Chesty Puller, in January 1951.

In April 2003, Kelly took command of the newly formed Task Force Tripoli and drove it north from Baghdad into Samarra and Tikrit.

His next assignment was as legislative assistant to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Michael Hagee. In January 2007, Kelly was nominated for major general,[12][13] and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 11, 2007.

In a 2014 speech regarding the War on Terror, Kelly said:

"If you think this war against our way of life is over because some of the self-appointed opinion-makers and chattering class grow ‘war weary,’ because they want to be out of Iraq or Afghanistan, you are mistaken. This enemy is dedicated to our destruction. He will fight us for generations, and the conflict will move through various phases as it has since 9/11."

In an April 2017 speech at George Washington University, Kelly said, "If lawmakers do not like the laws they've passed and we are charged to enforce, then they should have the courage and skill to change the laws. Otherwise they should shut up and support the men and women on the front lines."

In May 2017, Kelly said of terrorism, "It's everywhere. It's constant. It's nonstop. The good news for us in America is we have amazing people protecting us every day. But it can happen here almost anytime."[31] He said that the threat from terrorism was so severe that some people would "never leave the house" if they knew the truth.[31] In July, Kelly blocked Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke from taking a position in the DHS.

Both USMC 4 Star Generals......

Did they play Good John Bad John?

Coincidence.....

Two Johns?
Is John the Theologian - of Isle of Patmos fame, who wrote Revelation, one and the same person as John the Evangelist, John the gospel writer, or are these two different Johns?

Two different Johns
These are two different "Johns." That is, the book of Revelation was almost certainly written by someone other than the author of the Gospel according to John.

The author of Revelation identifies himself as a man named John (Rev 1:1, 4, 9; 22:8), and so he has often been called "John of Patmos" or "John the Seer." But the distinctive style and theology of Revelation (and also, perhaps, its probable date of authorship) strongly suggests that its author did not write any other books in the New Testament. Notice, too, that the author never suggests that he knew Jesus or was among the original twelve apostles.

The author of the Gospel according to John is never identified; that document is anonymous. Traditions in the early church linked this book to the Apostle John, one of the sons of Zebedee, and considered him to be "the disciple whom Jesus loved," as this character is frequently named in the Gospel. We cannot tell who wrote John's Gospel, and it is unclear which disciple is the one singled out as "beloved." Nevertheless, the unknown author is often referred to as "John the Evangelist."

Not everyone in the ancient church went along with the idea that John's Gospel and the book of Revelation were written by the same person, even though that idea (which was first expressed in the late second century) gained currency and became assumed for a long time in Christian tradition. It is interesting to note that this association may have given Revelation greater credibility in some quarters, for many in the ancient church found the theology of this book objectionable. (We see a similar thing happening when some in the early church ascribed the Letter to the Hebrews to the Apostle Paul, as a means of vouching for that book and its theology.)

Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through.
An' just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.
Georgia, Georgia, a song of you,
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines.
Other arms reach out to me;
Other eyes smile tenderly.
Still in peaceful dreams I see,
The road leads back to you.
Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find.
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.

In 1642, Dutch explorer Abel Tasman became the first European to sight New Zealand.

Today, the majority of New Zealand's population of 4.7 million is of European descent.

Queen Elizabeth II is the country's head of state and is represented by a governor-general, currently Dame Patsy Reddy.

The introduction of the potato and the musket transformed Māori agriculture and warfare. Potatoes provided a reliable food surplus, which enabled longer and more sustained military campaigns.[33] The resulting intertribal Musket Wars encompassed over 600 battles between 1801 and 1840, killing 30,000–40,000 Māori.[34] From the early 19th century, Christian missionaries began to settle New Zealand, eventually converting most of the Māori population.[35] The Māori population declined to around 40% of its pre-contact level during the 19th century; introduced diseases were the major factor.[36]

The British Government appointed James Busby as British Resident to New Zealand in 1832 following a petition from northern Māori.

In 1891 the Liberal Party, led by John Ballance,[50] came to power as the first organised political party and passed many laws.

A Māori protest movement developed, which criticised Eurocentrism and worked for greater recognition of Māori culture and of the Treaty of Waitangi.[60] In 1975, a Waitangi Tribunal was set up to investigate alleged breaches of the Treaty, and it was enabled to investigate historic grievances in 1985.[40] The government has negotiated settlements of these grievances with many iwi,[61] although Māori claims to the foreshore and seabed have proved controversial in the 2000s.

Much of the remaining forest fell after European settlement, being logged or cleared to make room for pastoral farming, leaving forest occupying only 23% of the land.

The country's diverse scenery and compact size, plus government incentives,[326] have encouraged some producers to shoot big-budget productions in New Zealand, including Avatar, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong and The Last Samurai.

Communications Interoperability Training with Amateur Radio Community Set

Communications Interoperability Training with Amateur Radio Community Set

10/24/2017
Elements of the US Department of Defense (DOD) will conduct a “communications interoperability” training exercise November 4-6, once again simulating a “very bad day” scenario. Amateur Radio and MARS organizations will take part.

“This exercise will begin with a national massive coronal mass ejection event which will impact the national power grid as well as all forms of traditional communication, including landline telephone, cellphone, satellite, and Internet connectivity,” Army MARS Program Manager Paul English, WD8DBY, explained in an announcement.

During the exercise, a designated DOD Headquarters entity will request county-by-county status reports for the 3,143 US counties and county equivalents, in order to gain situational awareness and to determine the extent of impact of the scenario. Army and Air Force MARS organizations will work in conjunction with the Amateur Radio community, primarily on the 60-meter interoperability channels as well as on HF NVIS frequencies and local VHF and UHF, non-Internet linked Amateur Radio repeaters.

Again this year, a military station on the east coast and the Fort Huachuca, Arizona, HF station will conduct a high-power broadcast on 60-meter channel 1 (5330.5 kHz) on Saturday from 0300 to 0315 UTC. New this year will be an informational broadcast on Sunday, on 13,483.5 kHz USB from 1600 to 1615 UTC. Amateur Radio operators should monitor these broadcasts for more information about the exercise and how they can participate in this communications exercise, English said.

“We want to continue building on the outstanding cooperative working relationship with the ARRL and the Amateur Radio community,” English said. “We want to expand the use of the 60-meter interop channels between the military and amateur community for emergency communications, and we hope the Amateur Radio community will give us some good feedback on the use of both the 5-MHz interop and the new 13-MHz broadcast channels as a means of information dissemination during a very bad day scenario.

Sixty-four is the square of 8, the cube of 4, and the sixth power of 2. It is the smallest number with exactly seven divisors. It is the lowest positive power of two that is adjacent to neither a Mersenne prime nor a Fermat prime. 64 is the sum of Euler's totient function for the first fourteen integers. It is also a dodecagonal number[1] and a centered triangular number.[2] 64 is also the first whole number that is both a perfect square and a perfect cube.

Since it is possible to find sequences of 64 consecutive integers such that each inner member shares a factor with either the first or the last member, 64 is an Erdős–Woods number.[3]

In base 10, no integer added up to its own digits yields 64, hence it is a self number.[4]

64 is a superperfect number—a number such that σ(σ(n)) = 2n.[5]

64: Number of demons in the Dictionnaire Infernal
The Dictionnaire Infernal (English: Infernal Dictionary) is a book on demonology, describing demons organised in hierarchies. It was written by Jacques Auguste Simon Collin de Plancy and first published in 1818. There were several editions of the book; perhaps the most famous is the 1863 edition, which included sixty-nine illustrations by Louis Le Breton depicting the appearances of several of the demons. Many but not all of these images were later used in S. L. MacGregor Mathers's edition of The Lesser Key of Solomon.

The cover page for the 1826 edition reads:

Infernal Dictionary, or, a Universal Library on the beings, characters, books, deeds, and causes which pertain to the manifestations and magic of trafficking with Hell; divinations, occult sciences, grimoires, marvels, errors, prejudices, traditions, folktales, the various superstitions, and generally all manner of marvellous, surprising, mysterious, and supernatural beliefs.

Influenced by Voltaire, Collin de Plancy initially did not believe in superstition. For example, the book reassures its contemporaries as to the torments of Hell: "To deny that there are sorrows and rewards after death is to deny the existence of God; since God exists, it must be necessarily so. But only God could know the punishments meted out to the guilty, or the place that holds them. All the catalogues made herebefore are only the fruit of a more or less disordered imagination. Theologians should leave to the poets the depiction of Hell, and not themselves seek to frighten minds with hideous paintings and appalling books" (p. 164).

In later years, De Plancy rejected and modified his past works, thoroughly revising his Dictionnaire Infernal to conform with Roman Catholic theology. This influence is most clearly seen in the sixth and final 1863 edition of the book, which is decorated with many engravings and seeks to affirm the existence of the demons. de Plancy collaborated with Jacques Paul Migne, a French priest, to complete a Dictionary of the occult sciences or theological Encyclopaedia, which is described as an authentic Roman Catholic work.

Many articles written in the Dictionnaire Infernal illustrate the author's vacillation between rationalism, faith, and willingness to believe without evidence.

In 1846, he published a two-volume work entitled Dictionnaire Sciences Occultes et des Idées superstitieuses,[4] another listing of demons. The set cost 16 francs.
