Not a big fan of war movies, cause most are just based on some fantasy shit. If it is realistic, good...
It's Christopher Nolan. Needless to say it will not be your typical war film.
Plus, it's Christopher Nolan. Even if the plot is an average war movie, he's going to bring something unique. His films are quite often pieces of art, if nothing else. Big fan of watching his work and to me, he's never made a bad film, everything he's made has been interesting and he's made a couple of my favorites over the past 20 years or so (The Prestige, Momento, Inception).
This is about The Battle of Dunkirk, which didn't involve Americans. Big Hollywood WWII films rarely ever focus on non-American battles (Enemy at the Gates is one that comes to mind, dope Russian vs German sniper movie), so it's nice to see something from the French/British perspective. Something like 450,000 casualties, although the movie is about the evacuation which saved 330,000 lives.
Good actors too, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, mark rylance, etc. And thry have the Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema again, who is fantastic at what he does.
Blade Runner could be hit or miss. Kinda like Prometheus...
It definitely could be but Ridley Scott sucks now. He's a past prime director. Denis Villeneuve on the other hand is entering his prime right now and a massive Sci-fi fan himself, so I'm feeling good about it and from what I've read (lots of talented people making this movie). Have you seen Arrival? He directed that. I hear he's also going to make Dune, something he's wanted to do for years (which shows how much of a nerd he is haha). I have a good feeling about it and I initially hated the idea since I was a huge Blade Runner fan but the more I read about it and found out who's involved, everything seems very positive.
