De La Hoya: After Malignaggi, I See Broner Going To 140

By Luis Sandoval

Golden Boy has made everyone aware of their 140lb tourney that will begin on April 27th when Danny Garcia takes on Zab Judah and the second part will be May 18th when Lamont Peterson faces hard hitting Lucas Matthysse. The winners of each fight will be scheduled to fight each other while Amir Khan will fight the last man standing according to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.

One fighter who might get thrown into the mix is Adrien Broner who is jumping up two weight classes to fight Paulie Malignaggi for the WBA Welterweight championship. BoxingScene caught up with Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya who said only because Broner is fighting at 147 this fight, it doesn’t mean he won’t come back down.

“Yes, absolutely. Look, the fact that Adrien Broner is moving up to 147 and challenging Paulie Malignaggi – who is a live dog, don’t count him out, it’s a tough fight for Broner - but the fact that he’s doing that it doesn’t mean he’s not wanting to fight the best at 140. I can see Broner going after a title and I don’t know what’s going to happen against Paulie Malignaggi but [I can see him] coming back to 140” De La Hoya would tell BoxingScene.

Many didn’t like the idea of Broner skipping the Junior Welterweight division which houses opponents who would be considered real threats to Adrien who is being groomed as boxing’s next big superstar. While Broner will be fighting for a Welterweight title, De La Hoya sees him coming back down to take on the best possible opposition.

“Broner, he wants to fight the best. He wants to fight the best and he’s going to fight the best. There’s no doubt about it. He just wants to make news, skip a couple weight classes and challenge a champion there. So do I see Broner going back down to 140? Yes, absolutely” said De La Hoya.

But I thought Broner was ducking the guys at 140lb (even thou they all already have fight lined up). The so-called boxing fans are too funny. Going from 135lb to fight a 147lb champ is a duck move. But Manny moving up to fight David fucking Diaz at 135lb while ducking the real champ Nate Campbell is called making history. Double standards at it's finest..

Seriously man, Oscar DLH will forever get clowned for the fishnets thing. Broner is hinging on going into a whole new category and will probably exceed DLH in gayness at this rate. Yet dudes all the sudden don't care about his "out of the ring" persona and actions? Get outta here with that breh

B @bigface I said it before, Broner will drop weight once everyone at 140 is washed up and beat up, passed their prime just like Oscar said. I don't even think a lot of people will watch that Paulie fight either. I don't care if he's gay or not really, but GBP is protecting Canelo and Broner records to hopefully get them to fight when they are 30 yrs old. Canelo will destroy Trout within 6 rounds and Canelo will be the next big draw. broner will dodge him til later in his career or just not fight him at all.

I don't have to go far since there's a giant thread about his fuckery on a boxing forum. One click and its all there.

I can't support fruitcakes man, I'm sorry. Boxing skills or not dog is a fag.
U keep apologizing for not supporting him??? Dude stop apologizing. I dont any of us care if u support him. I dont support Pacqiaou but I wont apologize for it. We like who we like just like in any sport. If we all supported the same shit then sports would be very boring. Yall can shit talk all yall want to about Broner but he is a beast and wont no one beat him any time soon so he will get the last laugh. Got Em!!

I just don't like the fact that he's always calling mofos out and hasn't fought none of them. Anyone that doesn't oppose a threat to his record "CAN" get it. But if you do oppose a threat, you "CAN" get tweeted about by Broner.

DE LA HOYA CLAIMS MAYWEATHER IS SCARED TO FIGHT CANELO
April 7th, 2013 | by admin

“Canelo didn’t fight on the undercard of May 4 because Floyd didn’t want to sign to fight Canelo in September in advance if they both win their fights…Unfortunately, Floyd didn’t want to sign a contract in advance to fight Canelo, so ask yourself this, is Floyd scared to fight Canelo? I say he is,” stated Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya in a recent video posted Elie Seckbach. Check out what else he had to say about a future showdown between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather.

Difference is Golovkin has tried to fight all the best guys. Sergio, Sturm, Geale, Ndam and Quillin all turned him down and Dmitry Pirog got hurt. Finally Macklin stepped up so props to him.

Another thing about Golovkin is he was a great amateur, beat guys like Lucien Bute, Andre Dirrell, Andy Lee, etc etc etc., so it's not as if he came out of no where the man had over 300 fights.

Dude Bute & Lee are bums. Dirrell is decent though. I dont care what the reasons are and excuses. Fighting no one is fighting no one. If GGG was able to fight Serg, Ward etc... he would get destroyed simple as that. Got Em!!

You obviously don't know what you're talking about as far as Golovkins amateur and Olympic resume goes, Dirrell, Bute and Lee are just three names that you would recognize. I can name top Russian and Ukranian fighters he beat but you wouldnt know who they are. As stated he had three hundred fights and beat top opponents for years (his amateur record was reportedly 350-5). He was a highly decorated amateur and Olympic medal winner.
