Adam Schefter ‏ A @AdamS chefter

NY sports-talk radio host said he would trade Revis for SF's top 2 picks AND Aldon Smith. Why stop there? Why not have them throw in Iupati?

lolwut
lol fuck NYC, they don't realize they have to sell revis for less then he's worth. They're the ones in a critical situation, the 49ers will be fine with or without Revis. The 49ers front office has already made that clear. With that said I would gladly give up the 1st and 2nd round pick for Revis. He's not deion in 94' but he will make that type of impact on this team.

As for goldson i think he's gone, the 49ers just can't keep goldson and whitner. They both have the same fucken mentality, they're both aggressive as hell so it exposes the 49ers slightly above average DB's. This secondary gets beat to often deep for biting on everything. I would rather keep Goldson over Whitner but since Whitner is still signed it looks like Goldson is the one who is going to kick rocks.

49ers tender CB Brock, sign WR Hastings
The 49ers tendered a one-year contract to restricted free agent cornerback Tramaine Brock, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Brock joined San Francisco as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2010, and went on to earn a spot on the team’s opening day roster. He appeared in three games, totaling three tackles.

In 2011, Brock set a career high with two interceptions in 11 game as the 49ers advanced to the franchise's first NFC Championship Game since the 1997 season.

This past season, he appeared in all 16 regular season games, and tied for the team lead with 15 tackles on special teams.

The 49ers also announced the signing of wide receiver Joe Hastings on Thursday, who originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in July, 2011.

He spent most of the 2011 season on the practice squad, before a promotion to the active roster for the final game of the regular season.

Hastings was not with the 49ers during the 2012 season, after being released during training camp.

49ers release kicker David Akers
The 49ers released record-setting kicker David Akers on Wednesday after he struggled with more missed field goals than anyone else in the NFL in 2012.

49ers GM Trent Baalke offered this statement:

“The 49ers would like to thank David for his service, dedication and leadership over the past two years. He is a true professional who represented himself and this organization with class. We wish him, and his family, all the best.”

Akers set an NFL record in 2011 after signing a three-year, $9 million contract with the 49ers with 44 field goals in 52 attempts. He opened the 2012 season in impressive fashion with a record-tying 63-yard field goal against the Green Bay Packers.

However, Akers, who underwent offseason surgery on a double sports hernia, fell on rough times. He made just 29 of 42 field-goal attempts during the season. He missed field goals in overtime against the St. Louis Rams in both games this season in games that resulted in a tie and a loss.

The 49ers signed veteran Billy Cundiff at the end of the regular season to compete with Akers for the kicking chores in the playoffs. The 49ers stuck with Akers, who made four of five field-goal attempts in the postseason.

The move saves the 49ers $3 million in cap room. The top kickers scheduled for free agency are Phil Dawson (Cleveland), Lawrence Tynes (New York Giants) and Shayne Graham (Houston).

49ers interested in cornerback Sean Smith

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired wide receiver Percy Harvin in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, according to multiple reports, and the 49ers are looking for help in the secondary.

The 49ers are expected to make a run "at the right price" for Miami Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith, who is scheduled to hit the free-agent market on Tuesday, a league source told CSNBayArea.com.

The 49ers are expected to face competition from the Philadephia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Smith, a four-year veteran from Utah. Smith was a second-round draft pick in 2009.

The 49ers struggled in the postseason against big wide receivers, such as Atlanta's Julio Jones and Baltimore's Anquan Boldin, and Smith would provide the 49ers with tremendous size (6-foot-3, 214 pounds) on the outside.

Smith has started every game the past two seasons for the Dolphins and recorded four interceptions with 19 passes broken up during that time.

49ers believed to be interested in Tynes

The 49ers are expected to strike quickly to secure one of the top free-agent kickers available when the free-agent signing period begins Tuesday at 1 p.m. (PT).

The 49ers are believed to be interested in free-agent kicker Lawrence Tynes, who is not expected to return to the New York Giants. Tynes has a history of kicking in inclement conditions. He has also experienced success at Candlestick Park, including a 31-yard field goal in overtime to send the Giants to the Super Bowl two seasons ago.

Brad Seely, 49ers special-teams coordinator, worked two seasons with kicker Phil Dawson, 38, while with the Cleveland Browns in 2009 and 2010. Dawson made 29 of 31 field-goal attempts last season.

Tynes, 34, was an NFC Pro Bowl alternate after making 33 of 39 field goals last season. Tynes is proven in the postseason as the kicker on two Super Bowl champions.

Shayne Graham (Houston), Jason Hanson (Detroit) and Steven Hauschka (Seattle) are among the other top kickers scheduled for free agency.

The 49ers released kicker David Akers last week after he struggled during the regular season. Akers, who set the NFL record with 44 made field goals in 2011, connected on just 29 of 42 attempts.

49ers Extend NT Ian Williams

The San Francisco 49ers have signed NT Ian Williams to a two-year contract extension through the 2015 season.

“We are very pleased to extend the contract of a young, talented player like Ian,” said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. “He will have the opportunity to continue to grow in our defense, and we look forward to his future development. Paraag and Drew deserve credit for working hard to put this deal together.”

Williams (6-1, 305) originally signed with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in July of 2011, and went on the make the 53-man roster. He has played in four games and registered seven tackles over the past two seasons.

A 23-year old native of Altamonte Springs, FL, Williams played at Notre Dame where he tallied 161 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions and 13 tackles for loss in 45 career games.
