Mosley Rips Mayweather For Not Fighting Pacquiao

By Mark Vester

"Sugar" Shane Mosley took a few shots at Floyd Mayweather Jr. for not accepting a fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. Mosley faces Pacquiao on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He feels like he's doing Mayweather's "dirty work" by fighting Pacquiao in May.

"I don't know what to make of Floyd not fighting this fight. It's mind-boggling to me," said Mosley to the AP. "It's like I said on Twitter, it feels like I'm doing Floyd's dirty work."

Mosley believes at least pary of the reason why the fight has not happened is Mayweather's past troubles with southpaw fighters. And there are also the ongoing legal issues. Mayweather is accused of felony grand larceny, coercion and robbery from an incident last September, and also faces misdemeanor domestic battery and harassment charges

Roach Doesn't See Any Quit Ahead For His Career

By Michael Marley

WASHINGTON, DC.-- Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao's beloved from Boston to Bacolod trainer, turns age 51 come March 5.

Despite his medical issues, Roach looks healthy and stays in fighting trim.

On a Valentine's Day when sweet love was in the air, even in boxing circles, Coach Roach and I spoke about death.

Not that either of us are in a rush to meet the Grim Reaper or anything like that but my fellow Bostonian has already figured out where he wants to finally drop his battle sword.

Roach wants to “check out” not in a hotel, not on an airplane and not on Malibu Beach. Other places he is not planning to expire are any fancy golf courses or any fishing holes.

Roach despises wakes, funerals and the usual trappings of mourning a loved one in a formal way.

But, in thinking about his own physical demise, he knows where he wants to take the ultimate 10 count.

“People ask me about retirement, I will never retire from doing what I love,” Roach told me in New York after the Sugar Shane Mosley-Pacquiao presser at Chelsea Piers.

“What would I do other than this? What could I do? I hate golf, I hate fishing. As far as I'm concerned, can just drop in the gym and that will be enough.”

I asked ex-fighter Freddie how he rated the movie, “The Fighter,” based on Lowell, Mass., product Irish Micky Ward.

Roach is a movie buff who watches flicks every Sunday night.

“I liked it, it was good,” Roach said. “But I know a lot about Micky and about his family.

“I'll tell you a funny story, my mother (Barbara, first women boxing judge in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts) scored the Dickie Eklund-Sugar Ray Leonard fight and she gave it to Leonard in Boston.

“One of Micky's crazy sisters went looking for her. She was intending to beat my mother up,” Roach said.

“My mother saw the sister coming after and she did something smart. She looked around ringside and she spotted a priest she knew.

“My Mom went over there, sat with the priest and that was the end of that.”

When Freddie's end comes, he won't mind a bit if it occurs with his boots on at his own Wild Card Gym or another fistic factory.

Maidana’s ex-trainer sees him easily beating Morales on 4/9

By Dan Ambrose: Marco Maidana’s ex-trainer Miguel Diaz sees Maidana easily beating 34-year-old Erik Morales (51-6, 35 KO’s) when they face off on April 9th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Diaz was recently replaced by Nacho Beristain as the head trainer for Maidana.

Speaking with Chris Robinson at examiner.com, Diaz said “Of course I wish him [Maidana] well. A young lion fighting an old lion [Morales] who has been through a lot of wars. [Morales] is coming back but in the last fight he fought a kid who came in at the last minute, the Dominican, Lorenzo, and he struggled with Lorenzo. I don’t think it’s going to be any problems for Maidana to win that fight. It’s a no-brainer, let’s put it that way.”

This fight does look like a huge mismatch because of Maidana’s huge punching power and because of how shot Morales has been looking in his last three fights. Morales doesn’t have the size or the power to compete with Maidana in this fight. And Morales’s style of engaging with his opponents may end up disastrous for him against a hard puncher like Maidana.

Morales stands to gain a lot if he can out-box Maidana and capture the vacant WBA light welterweight title, which will be on the line on April 9th when they fight. A win by Morales will put him in the driver’s seat for at least one big money fight against Amir Khan, Timothy Bradley or the winner of the Zab Judah vs. Kaizer Mabuza fight.

Alvarez vs. Hatton to fight for Pacquiao’s old WBC title

By Sean McDaniel: Unbeaten Saul Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 KO’s) and Britain’s Matthew Hatton (41-4-2, 16 KO’s) will be fighting for Manny Pacquiao’s recently vacated World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight title on March 5th at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California.

Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya petitioned the WBC to have Pacquiao’s vacated WBC title at stake.

This is going to be a big chance for the 29-year-old Hatton, because he bypassed a possible future chance at getting a fight for the WBA welterweight title by taking the risky fight against Alvarez on 3/5.

It was thought that Alvarez and Hatton were to fight for Alvarez’s WBC Silver junior middleweight title. But with the better known WBC title being on the line for this fight, this is going to be a huge prize for Hatton if he can somehow beat the 20-year-old Alvarez and bring back home to England the WBC title. Matthew’s younger brother is Ricky Hatton, a former two-time world champion.

It was thought by many boxing fans that Matthew Hatton didn’t have the talent earlier in his career to ever win a world title. But in the past two years, Matthew has made a ton of progress, capturing the EBU welterweight title and beating guys like Gianluca Branco, Lovemore N’dou and Yuriy Nuzhnenko.

Alvarez is a much harder puncher than those fighters, and it’s going to be difficult for Hatton to get through this fight without getting knocked out or hurt. If he can keep away from Alvarez’s right hand, Hatton will have a real chance in winning this fight.

David Haye close to deal to fight Alexander Povetkin - 5/21/11

BoxRec News can reveal that very positive negotiations are taking place with regards to WBA heavyweight champion David Haye defending his title against 2004 Olympic gold medallist Alexander Povetkin on May 21st.

The 31-year-old Russian is 21-0 and the number two ranked challenger with the WBA behind Uzbek Ruslan Chagaev who, reportedly, would have difficulties being approved to box in the UK due to a former diagnosis of hepatitis.

Haye and Povetkin have one thing in common – an intense dislike of Wladimir Klitschko after both men failed to share a ring with the Ukrainian due to contractual difficulties. Povetkin was all set to face Klitschko last year but withdrew leaving a rather bemused ‘Dr Steelhammer’ putting his fist up to a cardboard cut out of Povetkin at a press conference.

In the Russian publication ‘Arguments and Facts’ (translated by Ruslan Chikov of Boxing Scene), Povetkin said, "An important step towards achieving the major goals of my career would be for me to fight with Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko. We had already discussed the fight with Wladimir, but we wouldn't accept the terms of the contract. Klitschko wants to decide everything for you: the hotel in which I live, where and what to eat, and even what gloves I can wear during the fight. Why? By what right? Am I a slave to the Klitschko brothers? Maybe he even wants to arrange my breakfast menu? Boxing against Klitschko is primarily an event which is organized under him. But the event should also be honest and fair to all."

Sound familiar?

Povetkin’s most recent outing was a ticking over bout against Nicolai Firtha in Germany which he won on points over ten after sustaining an injury to his right hand in the early part of the fight. He is now being trained by American fight guru Teddy Atlas.

The Russian is promoted by Sauerland Events which makes the contest about as easy to make as such things are these days. Hayemaker Promotions and Sauerland Events have ties arising from Haye’s victory over their man Nikolai Valuev in Nuremberg back in November 2009.

Kalle Sauerland said, “Haye versus Chagaev would be a massive fight, probably the fight of the year in the heavyweight division. But it is not up to us. It´s a matter of the BBBoC and the WBA to see whether Chagaev will be able to fight Haye. If not, Povetkin is ready to step in. He is fit, willing and able and more than qualified.”

Dirrell says he’s ready to get back in the ring and show his stuff

By Scott Gilfoid: Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) is ready to bust loose on the super middleweight division after a year away from boxing to recover from a late hit by Arthur Abraham in the Super Six tournament last March. Dirrell, 27, has since had a lot of time to recover from the neurological symptoms he was suffering from the shot he was hit by while he was on the canvas.

Dirrell wants to fight WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward and IBF title holder Lucian Bute in the near future. Those are couple of fighters on Dirrell’s target list. Those are really the only ones that frankly count, because WBO champ Robert Stieglitz isn’t well known enough in the U.S and WBC title holder Carl Froch will likely have lost his title after facing either Glen Johnson or Ward in the Super Six tournament. There’s no point in facing Froch if he doesn’t have a title other than to clear up the controversy from their fight in October 2009, in which Dirrell lost the fight by a questionable 12 round decision.

Speaking with writer Eric Woodyard from the Flint Journal at mlive.com, Dirrell said “People want to see the fight [Dirrell vs. Ward], but they just won’t see it when they want to see it. But it will come. I can’t wait, I know he can’t wait and that’s definitely going to put a stamp on who’s the best, and I’m ready to get in there and show the people what’s up.”

Dirrell speaks the truth. The winner of the Dirrell-Ward fight will be the top fighter in the super middleweight division bar none. The only fighter remaining for Dirrell to knock over will be Bute, but that guy doesn’t compare with Dirrell. Bute had problems with Librado Andrade, and that’s a fighter that Dirrell would easily beat.

Dirrell needs a tune-up or two before he takes on Ward or Bute. Dirrell will be back in the ring by April, but it’s not going to be a great fighter. You have to take things slowly while Dirrell gets his fighting legs back under him. Once he destroys one or two fighters, he’s going to be ready to get back in there with the best.

Klitschko vs. Solis to be televised on Epix in U.S – Boxing News

By Jim Dower: For American boxing fans hoping to see the March 19th bout between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KO’s) and challenger Odlanier Solis (17-0, 12 KO’s) on cable, they’ll be happy to learn the news that the fight will be picked up by the American premium cable channel Epix on 3/19, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.

While this isn’t HBO, Showtime or ESPN, there are a lot of Americans that get the Epix channel, so it’s great that the fight will be shown by this channel. The fight will be taking place at the Lanxess-Arena, Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, in Germany. Klitschko, 39, is a huge favorite due to his size, experience and talent. Solis is Vitali’s number #1 challenger, but the Cuban has failed to beat anyone of note during his four-year pro career and seems to be regressing rather than improving as he puts on more and more weight seemingly with each outing.

At this point, Solis seemed like a much better fighter when he first turned pro in 2007 compared to the way he’s been looking lately. Unless I miss my guess, this fight is going to be a one-sided fight along the same lines as Klitschko’s win over previously unbeaten Kevin Johnson in December 2009.

Solis has beat everyone put in front of him as a pro, but his management hasn’t been eager to put him in with anyone even remotely capable of beating him. He’s been put in with guys like Monte Barrett, Carl Davis Drumond and Ray Austin, among others, but no one with any real talent that could test him. Solis is going to be taking a stratospheric leap up in talent on March 19th and I expect it to be much too difficult for him to handle.

Mosley’s trainer says Shane will have to knock Pacquiao down over and over to win

By Chris Williams: Photo credit Tom Casino/Showtime – Naazim Richardson, the trainer for Shane Mosley, thinks that Mosley is going to have to knock Manny Pacquiao down repeatedly to get the win. Richardson needs to tell Mosley to stay away from throwing punches to the head of Pacquiao if he wants Mosley to be knocking Pacquiao down over and over again.

Speaking to the Philippine Star, Richardson said “If you knock him [Pacquiao] down, he’s going to get up. Manny Pacquiao is the kind of guy that I firmly believe that I Shane Mosley knocks him down two times every round, then every round he gets back up. So my Shane must be mentally prepared to keep knocking him back down.”

Richard might be better off giving Mosley advice to knock Pacquiao down with a body shot. He doesn’t seem to handle it to the body nearly as well as he does to the head. The best way to get Pacquiao out is to stay away from throwing head shots and focus entirely on throwing to the body because Pacquiao takes shots to the head really well. You got to take a lot at his fight against Antonio Margarito where Pacquiao was hurt in the 6th from a hard body shot if you want to find a way to beat him. If you knock Manny down with a body shot, the chances are good that he’ll have problems if he gets up.

Roach: Amir Khan Has To Watch For Bradley's Head

By Chris LaBate

Freddie Roach has expressed his concern over Timothy Bradley's head use, after watching his recent unification win over Devon Alexander. One of Roach's stars, WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan, is possibly going to face Bradley in July. Khan has a defense scheduled for April 16 against undefeated European champion Paul McCloskey. Roach expects a very tough fight from Bradley.

"I am concerned [with his head use]. He does use his head a lot. He ducks low and comes in [with the head]. It's a tough fight for Amir. [Bradley] has a tough style. Amir would have to watch out for his head. I think my guy beats him, but it's not an easy fight," Roach said

the more I think about it it's a fucked up thing to do from Marquez he just took a very good payday away from Nacho. Nacho is very loyal to him so I guess can't really blame him but marquez, that's a bitch move, especially considering they aren't even in the same weight class and there really is no reason for them to have to fight eachother.

Pascal-Hopkins: Golden Boy wins purse bid

By Eric Thomas: Golden Boy Promotions has reportedly won the purse bid for the rematch between World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins. Golden Boy Promotions won the bid with a winning bid of $1,911,500. The fight will take place on May 21st, and with Golden Boy winning the bid, it’s likely going to be taking place in the United States rather than Canada you would have to assume.

However, Hopkins doesn’t have have much of a fan base in the U.S. and Pascal is virtually an unknown fighter to the casual fans. This fight might be better off taking place in Canada if GBP wants to ensure that a large of fans come see the fight. I can’t picture this fight drawing more than 3000 fans if it takes place in the U.S. But if they have it take place in Canada, it will easily bring in 10,000 fans.

Hopkins and Pascal fought to a 12 round draw last year in December. Hopkins, 46, felt he should have won but he was knocked down twice in the fight and that pretty much ruined his chances of winning the fight. Rather than having to wait like most fighters do when they fail to beat the champion for a rematch, Hopkins was given an immediate rematch when the WBC stepped in for him and ordered Pascal to fight Hopkins immediately rather than allowing Pascal to fight Chad Dawson, who he had a rematch clause with from their fight last year. Dawson will be fighting on the undercard of the Hopkins-Pascal II fight and is suppose be getting an opportunity to fight the winner of that fight.

Besides the WBC belt being on the line when Hopkins and Pascal fight, the WBC Diamond strap will be up for grabs. It’s unknown if there will be a separate sanctioning fee needed for this trinket or whether it was just thrown in by the WBC in a two for one deal.

Alvarez-Hatton for vacant WBC title, says De La Hoya

Contrary to a false report floating around the internet about the Saul Alvarez vs. Matthew Hatton fight not being for the WBC vacant junior middleweight title on March 5th; it will indeed have the title on the line when these two warriors step into the ring at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California. Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya confirmed that the World Boxing Council junior middleweight title, which was recently vacated by Manny Pacquiao, will be up for grabs for this important fight.

This is great news both Alvarez and Hatton, because it gives much more meaning to this fight than there was previously. Speaking with fightnews.com, Alvarez said “I am happy to dispute for the title…I have said this is the year that I go after big names.”

the 20-year-old big punching Alvarez is the favorite in this fight because of his punching power. He hits incredibly hard, and he’s facing a guy in 29-year-old Hatton who doesn’t have a lot of power and who has been facing British and European level fighters his entire career. Hatton is going to have immediate problems with Alvarez’s power. It won’t be so much his boxing ability that Hatton struggles with in this fight, because he’s been in with some fighters with superb boxing ability like Yuriy Nuzhnenko and Craig Watson.

However, Alvarez’s power is huge and he’s capable of producing a knockout if he lands often enough. This will be a different kind of fight for Alvarez because he’s been facing 39-year-olds recently in bouts against Carlos Baldomir and Lovemore N’dou. Hatton has more in the tank than those guys and will be able to box and move much more. Alvarez is going to have use his wheels go after Hatton if he wants to track him down and stop him.

If Alvarez can’t handle Hatton’s movement and hit and run style of fighting, we may see a big upset on March 5th. It’s not likely but it’s possible. Hatton is a very smart fighter and he could find a way to out-box the younger Alvarez and ruin his plans on trying to capture the vacant WBC junior middleweight title.

The winner of this fight is going to have their hands full, though. The #2 and #3 contenders are Alfredo Angulo and Paul Williams. Those are very tough opponents for either Alvarez or Hatton. I can see both of those guys losing to either Angulo or Williams. I know Angulo would want to go after this belt, and it would be a tough battle for Alvarez to beat a seasoned guy like Angulo at this early stage in his career

The Biggest Fights that never happened

By Mark Hepplestall: Over the past few years there have been huge amounts of public pressure on fighters to make super fights with their greatest rivals, unfortunately many of these fights never happen due to money, egos, styles etc. Many boxers allow the high amount of risk to dictate their fights, settling for fights that on paper seem good but realistically are handpicked to enhance their status in a division; unfortunately this is becoming more and more the norm in boxing. Below are some of the greatest fights that have never happened.

1 – Manny Pacquiao Vs Floyd Mayweather Jr – firstly there is no doubt that both of these guys are brilliant boxers and would be around the P4P title in any era of boxing, however this fight will not likely ever happen. Mayweather beat some good boxers including Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Shane Mosley, and when combined with his impressive undefeated record and possibly with nationality all of these propelled him to P4P no.1, however these were all fights he was never likely to lose. Then entered the boxer who gate crashed the P4P scene, Manny Pacquiao, he has beat the exact same people as Mayweather (except Mosley, but not long to wait for that) plus a few others including Miguel Cotto, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. Who is better? Not sure and due to these boxers not fighting I am not prepared to commit myself to an answer. Why did it not happen? Risk, there is too much risk for both fighters, if Mayweather loses his career is over and people would question what would have happened if he fought other boxers in other their prime, while Pacquiao would be remembered for being a 8 weight world title holder, but would these be paper titles?

2 – Roy Jones Jr Vs Steve Collins – At this point it is best to point out I consider Roy Jones Jr in the top 5 middleweights and a great light heavyweight but considering Roy had 6 fights and 1 catch weight at super middleweight and not against the best, I will go toe to toe with the biggest person in the world on the subject “Roy Jones Jr is the best Super Middleweight of all time”. Like I said top 5 middleweights of all time, great light heavyweight, maybe a paper Heavyweight title which is impressive in itself but not in the Top 5 Super Middleweights. With bouts with James Toney, Vinny Pazienza and Tony Thornton Jones did capture the IBF title defending it 5 times and then moving to Heavyweight. Steve Collins spent his whole career chasing Roy Jones Jr and unfortunately for the majority of boxers in the divisions Roy Jones Jr fought in they were totally in his shadow rightly or wrongly. Collins fought some at bouts including two victories over Chris Eubank and two bouts against Nigel Benn who were considered two of the best super middleweights of all time. The Celtic Warrior finally got his chance at the big time with a bout against Joe Calzaghe, unfortunately Collins suffered an injury. Later Collins was offered the fight he wanted with Roy Jones Jr but a stipulation included he had to fight Joe Calzaghe first, in preparation he collapsed during sparring and doctors said blows to the head could result in his death resulting in his immediate retirement. Who would have won this bout? Not sure but it would be great to see these two fighting in their prime.

3 – Erik Morales vs Juan Manuel Marquez – Marquez has always had bad feeling with Morales and Barrera, they took the limelight and never offered Marquez the big fights until later in his career. Now all three Morales, Marquez and Barrera are looking for Mexico’s illusive 4th weight world title and it looked like it was going to happen when the rumour mill had Erik Morales vs Juan Manuel Marquez for the WBA title until they were overlooked for Marcos Maidana, which seems to be an easy fight for Maidana, however don’t forget Morales successfully out-boxed Manny Pacquiao once. Who would win the Erik Morales vs Juan Manuel Marquez bout? Not committing myself but I cannot look past Marquez, he carries the weight so much better then Morales and still seems to be at the top of his game.

4 – David Haye Vs Wladimir Klitschko – firstly I think Haye only ever wanted a shot for the world title and once he got the title off Valuev in an impressive boxing display he didn’t really need the Klitschko’s as he accomplished what he set out for in securing a world recognised world title in the form of the WBA title. At heavyweight we see glimpses of what Haye possesses in great speed, decent movement and great power. However the level of competition isn’t great with Barrett his first victim, Valuev the second, durable Ruiz the third and lastly the awful Harrison the fourth, next looking at Povetkin which would be a decent fight, but not a Klitschko. Then there is Wladimir, beat everyone worth beating in the division and now left with the people who are clearly not ready. Great skills, good power and tactically brilliant, but looking at his record there isn’t a huge name to propel his legacy into greatness. Will a Haye fight actually change this? Doubtful, the fight that they need is Wladimir Vs Vitali but that would also never happen. Haye Vs Wladimir, who would win? It’s hard to look past Wladimir but with Haye’s Power and Wladimir’s weak chin anything could happen.

5 – Vitali Klitschko Vs Lennox Lewis – rematch – The original explosive bout was a reality check to Lewis and propelled Vitali into the big time. Lewis was out of shape, still a great champion with all the physical attributes and skills required to be the best ever, just not the nationality. With victories against everyone worth beating in the latest Golden age of heavyweight boxing including the scalps of Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Hasim Rahman, David Tua, and Shannon Briggs and of course Vitali Klitschko this guy must go down as one of the all time greats. Vitali caught Lennox cold, in a fight that was supposed to be easy for Lewis to win, Vitali was close to beating Vitali in the early rounds before Vitali slowed down, possibly gassed and Lewis was coming back staggering Vitali before the referee stopped the bout on cuts. The rematch would be great a primed Lewis Vs a primed Vitali but the risk was too high and lewis retired, possibly rightly so.

Manny Pacquiao: I'll Fight Mayweather, The Fans Want It

By Lem Satterfield

During Manny Pacquiao's recent media tour to promote the upcoming fight with Shane Mosley, scheduled for May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, we asked him the inevitable and inescapable question about the prospect of a mega fight with unbeaten, six-time champion, Floyd Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs).

"You know, I'm not picking my opponents. But if that fight were to happen, that would be good. And I will fight. I will fight," said Pacquiao.

"That would not only be good for me, but it would be good for the sake of the people," said Pacquiao. "People want that fight. The fans are always asking me about that fight."

Mayweather turned pro with Top Rank Promotions in 1996, but angrily severed ties with Arum's company in 2006.

Since then, Mayweather has aligned himself with rival promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, which has worked his past four victories comprised of those over Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and Mosley.

Starting with De La Hoya, Mayweather's adviser, Leonard Ellerbe, told FanHouse that Mayweather "has made over $120 million" with the promotional company.

Pacquiao's promoter, Top Rank CEO, Bob Arum, told reporters in Las Vegas that he is also keen on making the bout with Mayweather, perhaps in November, should Pacquiao defeat Mosley.

"Floyd is still our number one priority," said Arum. "We want to find out if he's available or what his legal status is," said Arum. "Right now I have no idea."

Among boxing's riches and most recognizable figures, the 33-year-old Mayweather has been dogged in recent years by legal troubles, allegations of violence at home and at Las Vegas clubs.

Mayweather was last in the ring for May's HBO pay per view televised lopsided, unanimous decision over Mosley, but won't face trial until at least April 25 on a misdemeanor charge in a November scuffle with a security guard outside Mayweather's Las Vegas home.

That will be after a March 10 evidence hearing on an unrelated felony domestic violence case that could get the undefeated prizefighter 34 years in prison.

The misdemeanor case stems from allegations that the six-time champion poked a 21-year-old homeowners association guard in the face during an argument about parking tickets. Mayweather's attorneys have denied wrongdoing on his behalf.

Negotiations between Arum and Golden Boy Promotions on behalf of Mayweather have twice reached an impasse over the notion of Olympic style drug testing.

Olympic style drug testing involves blood and urine, whereas boxing's current protocol involves only testing urine for illegal drugs.

For the first time in the sport's history, Mayweather and Mosley were subject to Olympic style drug testing of both blood and urine for their clash by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

Pacquiao has filed an ongoing lawsuit which seeks compensatory and punitive damages for defamation of character and which names names Mayweather, Golden Boy Promotions president, De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, Floyd Mayweather Sr., and Mayweather's uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, for their alleged accusations of steroid use by Pacquiao.

Haye, Povetkin, Chagaev Triangle Explained By Sauerland

By Ruslan Chikov

The heavyweight triangle between David Haye, Ruslan Chagaev and Alexander Povetkin was explained by Frank Bleydorn, a representative of Sauerland Event. Sauerland is the co-promoter of Haye and the sole promoter of Povetkin. Bleydorn issued a statement that Chagaev is still the mandatory challenger to Haye's WBA crown. Chagaev's participation in the fight has fallen under question due to his exposure to Hepatitis B. The British Board of Control is likely not going to approve him to fight in the UK.

If the fight moved to another country like Germany, Bleydorn doesn't see a problem taking place. Haye is likely not going to agree to a fight with Chagaev in Germany. If there is no solution to making a Chagaev fight happen, then the WBA's number two ranked contender, Povetkin, would fall in line.

"Currently, the official applicant to fight with Haye is still Ruslan Chagaev. If we find that a fight between David Haye and Chagaev is not possible, then there is a chance that a Haye-Povetkin match can happen, since Alexander occupies the following position under the WBA. Now, however, much of this depends on the venue for Haye's next fight. Take the battle to Germany, and there would be no problems with Ruslan Chagaev," Bleydorn told Alexander Pavlov.
